Independent voters are the most likely deciding factor in many elections. But in deep red electoral districts, those politicians who were looking for pardons would probably get away with it.
Republican officials testify against Trump. Even the white house counsel office knew the fake elector plan was illegal. But Trump and allies went forward with the scheme anyway. GOP senator Johnson tried to give a group of fake electors from Wisconsin and Michigan to VP Pence.
