i play low end cash games and like check-raising

Forget the check raise.

Up to about $50 buy in online or $2/$5 live, wait for good hands and play them aggressively. Don't get tricky and NEVER bluff.

You either want to be betting on the lead or getting out of the hand. If you can't raise then fold.

Dummy up and play ABC poker.

I've been playing ABC poker online for years. Here's the problem with that. "It's a f-ing grind" very slowly making money over time. this method works best at low limit tables (as low as possible)Most money I've ever made in short periods of time is when I prey on peoples weaknesses (bet when they check or just call) and "act" the opposite of my real position ( act weak when strong and visa versa) . Use chat to talk trashy and act like an idiot to get people in the mind frame of "I really want to bust this guy" .  Bluff and then show your cards then tight up. Durr didn't make 185K on full til.t playinjg ABC poker. Especially at high limit table people are actually
"playing" poker... not waiting for the best cards. doesn't work at the highest level of play because if you fold 50 hands in a row and then raise on one... everyone folds. ABC is probably a good way to start though. Watch as many pros play as possible. the more hands you watch and play the better you get.

check raise tip...  only do it if you have a hand worthy to check raise otherwise they may come over the top of you and raise again/put you all in.
in most cases you should check raise on the FLOP when a combo of these are true:
you have a the other person outstacked,
you know they are bluffing,
you have a up-and-down straight draw,
you have a flush draw,
you have top pair with high kicker (rarely do this),
you have two pair (on a rainbow board with no flush/straight draws)

dont check raise.

if you check raise a hand, its telling the other player you have a monster.

if you flop trips with a rainbow flop and you check and the other player bets and you raise 9 times out of 10 the hand is dead and he will fold.

if you lead out with the same set, it will confuse your opponent into thinking you have top pair or mid pair, or a hand that can be beat.

I make more money leading out on monster flops then I do with check raising.

check raising makes me think "wow this guy was willing to let a free card come off because he has a monster hand"
