Funny that no one has a story where they folded there AA and they would have won the pot.  I guess we will keep those to ourselves.

I folded the AA.  The 2 players showed KK and AK respectively and the monster chip leader who was big bling had 10J suited. Well the monster chip leader ends up with a Q high straight and the KK and AK were out. I moved up to top 3 ans was severely shot stacked and finished with 2300$ for 3rd place.

In a real life game I most likely won't fold the AA, but online with 3 or 4 players ahead of me all-in in a pivotal position which means more money or going home I would fold em. My 2 cents.

good move. especially on a pure rigged pile of shit poker site like full tilt.

You would NEVER fold pre-flop aces in a cash game.  Ever.  The only reason would be because of strange/rare situation in a tourney.

    Really?

If you jump up in stakes and sit at 100/200 NL with 100K, and the first hand you get pocket aces, 8 guys move in on you and you are the last to act; you call?

    That's bankroll management?

Even though it's +EV it could cost you a huge chunk of your bankroll when you are a significant underdog vs. 8 other random hands.

And what if the table is simply colluding to bump you by moving in on you continually to wipe you out?

If that happened you did a poor job of researching the site ahead of time because it's rigged or allows collusion.  Secondly if you sit down with 100K.....you shouldn't be the short stack, you would have 3 or 4 side pots.  And who sits down at a table with their ENTIRE bankroll anyway.....THAT is poor bankroll management.

Come up with another NON realistic example.

What if "Jigsaw" said "I wanna play a game"  if you fold the aces you live, if you call you die.  Yeah I'd probably fold.

I can't believe I wasted 5 minutes responding to that ridiculous comment.

Come up with another NON realistic example.

What if "Jigsaw" said "I wanna play a game"  if you fold the aces you live, if you call you die.  Yeah I'd probably fold.

I can't believe I wasted 5 minutes responding to that ridiculous comment.

    You're better than top pros?

There are professionals who do this for a living who openly admitted they would lay down aces preflop in a big tournament like the main event if there was a 4 way all in early.

That is NOT an unrealistic example with an 8k man field and pros have enough skill to pilfer chips from dead money players instead of sticking it in as an underdog in a multihand pot in a tourney they'll have to wait a year to reenter.

Stop trying to convince yourself otherwise.

Pocket Aces is the best STARTING hand not the best hand after the river card comes...

Folded AA once but there was a really arrogant prick going to be blinded out next hand and helped out the other short stack so he would be eliminated.

Anyone that has the knee-jerk reaction that you should NEVER fold AA pre-flop is not very bright, and is probably a lousy poker player.

I have folded AA SEVERAL times in SATELLITES, where I am on the bubble and have a comfortable chip stack, and realize that there is NO reason to take any risk when for example, coming in first is NO different than 50th.

In a REGULAR tourney, for example, if 4 players go all-in before me for some strange reason, I would have trouble folding my Aces  But I would possibly consider it if the prize money between a couple spots was substantial.

When it comes to gambling or life for that matter, Never say never or always."

Thank you for your contribution.  I must admit, however, that this poker forum usually sucks and is devoid of much logic.

I injure my head severely moments before.

I ate some really bad acid and now the aces look like 8s and they are talking to me in angry tones so I fold them to make the voices stop.

    Along those lines.

    That's bankroll management?

Even though it's +EV it could cost you a huge chunk of your bankroll when you are a significant underdog vs. 8 other random hands.

And what if the table is simply colluding to bump you by moving in on you continually to wipe you out?
I do not think this is a good example because you should never sit down in a No Limit table with an amount you are not willing to lose. So therefore in your example simply by even sitting at the table the player is employing poor bankroll management.

You have to move up in stakes sometime as you advance up the ladder in gambling and therefore, stretch your bankroll.

Similarly, playing in the World Series Main Event for 10k is poor money management for the average gambler. But playing Sit 'n Go's till wyou build a bankroll big enough to enter that tournament could take a year (or years depending on how frequently you play).

Even if you won the seat in a satellite to get a seat, it is unlikely you may ever do it again. Therefore, that seat should be treated with the utmost gambling care.

It is in those high stakes situations, where you move up in rank or have one shot to cash for millions, that you can lay down AA in a multi-way pot where you are a significant underdog to the table.

That is probably the one and ONLY time I would do so.

No, but I can find him a table of black poker players if he wants to fold all his money away to them. You can join him if you'd like...
