My Dilema...

I've been playing really well lately in tournaments and turning a profit., but afterwards I always go and donk my money away in cash games. I just can't learn my freaking lesson. Does anyone have a similar experience? I just get frusturated and go on tilt and thats the end of me. I want to

If you've read any sort of poker literature in the last 5 years it tells you NOT to do this.  Stay away from cash games and savor your tournament winnings.  Play cash games on days your not in a tournament.  GL

Ya they're 'different' games if that makes any sense.  You gotta take a bit different approach to cash games compared to tournaments.  Going on tilt is the worse thing you can do, after I take a bad beat I like to go for a lil walk and take a piss or something.  Come back and go at it again.  Just like betting sports you gotta have discipline.

Thanks guys. I think your right. The two different styles of play require such a change in gears that it is hard to change mindsets. At least one day in between tourneys and cash games!!! TY

you need to have 2 different bankrolls also,,,,keep your tourney winnings away from your ring game money. Also keep internet money seperate from live poker money, ect.

They are so different they should not even be called the same name. I will play tournaments and NL cash games at the same time but each requires a different strategy. NL cash games is where the skill is though, tournaments often end up as a lottery.
