I ran into Dutch at around 2 in the morning coming out of the Amazon room (I was playing some cash games) he looked out of it....you could tell the series was beating him up.
If you read some of my other posts in this forum you will see this is a common story....most Tournament pros are broke
Dutch's problem is he screwed so many people when the whole PokerSpot deal went down years ago that nobody ('cept for bax) will back him.......and yes I did lose money with PokerSpot, yes I have talked to Dutch about this (years ago).....but he still says it was not his fault......but the fact is he should have made good, something he did not do.....
So now he has put himself in a spot were nobody will back him and he is stuck watching from the sidelines.

Dutch is mostly famous for a few things... his decent run at the first ever largely televised WSOP, his youth (shades and hte bandana), the "chip tricks" ESPN clip, and when he took out Hachem heads up in the WSOP what 2 or 3 years ago.
He seems like a pretty ok guy, even though his business went real bad and he has a mean case of bipolar disorder.

Dutch just handled the whole thing with PokerSpot really really really badly....thats all.
My point basically was there is a reason he cant get backed.....
And there are more reasons than just PokerSpot that nobody will back Dutch, honestly I dont see the need to list them in a public forum...
Geez look at T.J. he owes everyone money and he can still get backed

Ungar died without shit and with a mean crack addiction... dude won 30 mill... but he had a mean action addiction...
i'm surprised dutch is broke as a joke. he graduated law school at like 19 and is supposedly smart. i know he has a bad case of bipolar but even then... he always rips on sportsgamblers and doesnt play table games so i dont know how he gassed thru his cash

Dutch opened an online poker room around 2000 or 2001
He was one of the first rooms to offer real money games
After about 10 months or so he closed up shop and never gave anyone their money back that they had deposited or won
He claims the bank holding the money screwed him
He owed/owes around $400,000 to players

and by bank I mean credit card processor company
he says the company was not paying him for the transactions (remember back then we could just use a visa card to fund our accounts)
and he fell way behind
his problem was he did not tell anyone about this....in fact he tried his best to cover everything up even when he knew he did not have the cash to cover his players bankrolls
he should have shut down right then and there and sorted it all out before things got worse
and in fact he used to come on RGP and tell all of us everything was fine and he was just a little slow in paying cashouts because he was growing so fast
nobody had any reason to not believe him.....he got way over his head and then finally had to close down when everyone started posting on RGP that they were not getting paid
it's a longer story than that even.....but you can get the gist of it

weathered, I understand. But many offshore books may take about 1 month for you to get your money, so hard to believe with that kind of float that he couldn't have made a go. The room is charging a rake, has everyone's money posted up, where only a small % of money will be withdrawn daily, seems like a serious drug problem or partying with a lot of strippers.

If you really want to know supposedly it's a bracelet from the 1994 $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha event.
The player who sold it is also a Main Event winnner.
Anyway I have seen the bracelet and I know this guy did not win it on his own....I also know it's a real bracelet from 1994.
You can do a little research and find out who the player is.
But of course he could have gotten it from another play who won that year and just told me it was this player since he was a "name".
Thats the main reason I dont want to post names since I dont know 100% for sure if it was him.

I used to play alot more than I do now....but I play for one reason, to make money....I do enjoy it but I would not do it just for fun....if I want to have fun and relax I go play Golf (I end up gambling on that as well, but not all the time)
Thing is I have been playing a long time....I have been playing in casinos since 1998 (when I turned 21) and online since 2000....i'm a "pre-boom" player....one of the reasons I play more games than just Hold'em
From 2001 - 2006 I used to play alot of tournaments and travel more often to play....I have a couple of kids now so I dont feel like traveling as much....I did just spend a week in vegas a couple of weeks ago and I played the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. and a ton of cash games
In Ohio poker clubs are HUGE....I can play in a game pretty much 24/7...and I also still play online as much as I can....the past couple of years I have really turned my attention to taking sports capping and gambling seriously....so capping sports has really cut into alot of my Poker playing time.....
But over the years you get to know alot of Poker players...thats the only reason I have so many stories and I know what's going on in the Poker world....I have a few friends who still travel the tournament trail and keep me up to date with the comings and goings
