I hit the bad beat jackpot at foxwoods on March !9th for 158,877.00 dollars. Was delt 3,4 of diamonds. Flop came,5,6,8 of diamonds. Next card was 2 of diamonds. The other player was delt 7,9 of diamonds. He made 79,000 and every player at the table got 13,000. It happens all the time you just have to be at the right place at the right time. They don't need too, they already attract a good amount of customers.  Also, many people prefer no bad beat jackpot vs. the Casino taking an extra dollar out of every pot.

All of those rooms you just mentioned are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tiered poker rooms that need to do that in order to attract customers.

And? Bad beat jackpots are awesome. Why not have a chance to win big while doing something you were gonna do anyway? So they take a $1 out of each pot. Big deal. So it cost you a few bucks a session. If you're good, it shouldnt matter.....

...and good luck finding a game at the quad, PH, or Harrahs.  They may have two tables tops going in the middle of the day, otherwise those poker rooms are ghost towns.  Ceasers is the only one out of that group (though I never heard that had a BB).

Rake is something that every good poker player takes into account.  Even one dollar per hand adds up when you play thousands of hands.  To the average losing Poker player, you're right, it isn't a big deal.

Its not the rake that's contributing to the Jackpot, it's the DROP.
Rake is separate from the drop.
Games & tourneys running all day every day at PH. Same with Harrah's. I'm not ranking the poker rooms, just answering a question.
The odds of winning the jackpot are in the millions when its J's or better.
It's like buying a lottery ticket every hand.
....or look at it like you are only paying into it when you win a pot (which is a bit of a stretch)

Places like Treasure Island & Monte Carlo drop for a monthly or weekly freeroll, where all the drop is redistributed.
    I prefer that.

    Bling; Wrong again.

I was at Ballys June 2-5.  They had a bonus game combining all LV CET properties. Needed badbeat over quad 8's. 4A beat 4K's. 4k got $800,000. 4A got $500,000. Everyone else playing at ALL LV CET casinos got $6,000. It happened at like 7am. They shut down all the tables until everyone got paid.

Can you imagine having $30/$40 left and you get $6,000

Ballys wasn't one of the Poker rooms I was talking about.  Of course they would have a BB JP.
