ouch, I had a similar experience going all in $1700 and getting beat by straight flush, I had a straight.I quit poker after that and now I only capp baseball and some Rangers games.I sugest you stick with sports for awhile at least you can control your losses a little easier. We all go broke once in awhile, I went shit broke betting big on the Fing Avalanche a couple of months ago so i have to wait till April for baseball, first game will be Yanks vs Sox over.

Man, that sucks.  I hate playing cash games even when I'm sober.  Too much can be lost in a short time with bad beats or bad runs.  The highest I usually play now is a $30 tourneys or $30 buy in to a smaller cash game.  And I abhor PokerStars, as I think their software is dirty as fuck.  I do play at UB regularly now, and believe it or not, it seems as if the best hands before or after the flop probably win MORE than they should.

How do you figure that?  If you're playing at too high a limit in a cash game, that's your own fault.  It's the same as betting too much on a game, no?

It's more of a mental thing for me.When you drop a unit on a game, you do it before the game so you're calm, cool and collective. When your playing poker, you're in the heat of battle, usually tired, on some kind of substance and stressed. It's just allot easier for me to regulate my bankroll on sports.Quitibg poker has been the best thing for my bankroll.

took me about all of 20 minutes....i was tanked. Granted, I did take an awful beat to lose 2 gs and that opened up the flood gates....fuckin pocket rockets losing to pocket kings on a straight.  I was determined to get that money back and kept buying back in and making very dumb raises. O well...Back to grinding it out on the double or nothing turbos.

I don't know why they call them Double or Nothing.  You don't even double your money when factoring in the entry fee.  And I don't see the allure of them, but if it works for you, go get em'!

It sounded better than '1.985 times your money or Nothing Tourneys'.  Or because you get back double the money that you put into the prize pool.

i was once playing a cash game at the binions and this drunk guy came in.  he was  joking with everyone on the table.  he must have had about 2k behind him.  at one point it wasnt his turn to act and he joked and said " im gonna go all in"  the dealer binded him to an all in act.  he was saying no im not going all in.  i was kidding.   he begged everyone not to call.  he was lucky no one had a hand everyone folded.  he would have either won with a bad beat or get his bank roll taken out.  so what i learned that day is to never joke about going all in on tables you might no be so lucky

why dont you all then try LIMIT poker if you cant handle the swings and dont want to lose your bankroll?
or maybe just get better at the game

Never say "All In" at a poker game or "I have a gun" in an airport unless you meant it
