OPEC+ regulates the supply of oil to influence the price of the commodity on the world market. So why did oil not explode when Texas boys were in office for 12 years, and actually decline? BUT if you look at that chart, the decline into the increase in finance costs AND the oil shock was minor until other players stepped into the chasm and started producing. The lead time for that shock and the drop in prices means that production will take 6-9-12 months to show that in domestic output, it takes time to get permits, lay the production ground work and see production results. Now even with higher finance costs, the increase in crude prices has given incentive for companies to increase capacity, so they are producing at high rates where in the past with lower prices companies will slow down the production as to help supply drop and prices to go up. The news has reported and that chart shows that domestic supply within the last few weeks is at an ALL TIME HIGH. So how is that possible?
