I don't care if anyone believes this but I post for the following economic reality:

Real wages are not keeping up with inflation.

That means when you go get your annual raise (if you work in a union you're worse off as those contracts are not generous, given how unions have been crippled in recent decades), in your white collar or blue collar job, you are LOSING money every year.

That is, your purchasing power decreases ever year.

    The impact is pernicious.

It's only felt over 5 years and 10 years and 20 years. So it's not immediately seen. That's the worst part. And prices slowly but surely increase.

A half a gallon of organic milk is now $6. That's fairly insane. Eggs can run as high as $5 a dozen (and more for cageless). I used to look at eggs as the bang for your buck in a grocery store at a little over $1.40. Not anymore. Not it hits ya. Now when you check out the grocery bill can easily be $200 if you are buying for more than one. That' serious money when you have to pay a mortgage, utilities and everything else.

Then all of a sudden, you'll have a wife and family and making more money than you ever had in your life, and you'll 'feel' cash poor and for the worst of the worst, economically unstable.

I do believe smart capping can make up for that 'donut hole' in your wages that has been hollowed out..

You're more productive than ever before (that is, the output you provide on your job is greater than it ever has been) and your wages are in general, flat.

This is not debatable. And not a cry for socialism. It's a simple reality that is occurring as I type. The labor struggle is about employees and employers. Employers want to pay as little as possible. Period. Not debatable.

Now if you OWN a business, this does not apply (but still impacts business owners because capital and overhead are are more expensive compared to a weaker dollar).

So I absolutely LOVE siphoning off this MASSIVE pile of offshore and now recently, domestic cash from the books to funnel to the general populace.

And I don't really give a shi* who you are or what you think.

I just want to supplement the decreasing dollar for the masses and I take great pleasure in using the books, who sit on a Mt. Everest pile of money, to do it.

Why this brings me pleasure? Can't explain that. It's similar to explaining why I like horseradish. Who can explain such a thing?

So rest assured, when I post, I'm looking for a winner with this one and all the others. Period. Or else it's pointless. All this other bullsh* about 'seeking attention' from anonymous goombahs who fancy themselves as an extra in the Sopranos is laughable.

And my local paper, The Star Ledger, also has two of three cappers picking RU to win outright. Making it 6 of 7 picks for RU. Wonderful!

James Kratch RUTGERS 25, ILLINOIS 24
Keith Sargeant RUTGERS 20, ILLINOIS 17
Steve Politi ILLINOIS 34 RUTGERS 24
Star Ledger Readers pick RU to win outright 62% to 37%

Hope you get this pick right. So many games on the board to pick from. And you think coach  Lovie Smith to pull thru with a win ? I believe he has a (7-21 record)?Todd Bowles , Hue Jackson, Jim Caldwell ,Lovie and Marvin Lewis made all time trash coaches list.

I would never wager a penny on these coaches.

BOL..I will be rooting for you.

    Make Illinois great again!

If you’ve seen Rutgers offense it’s almost impossible to like them covering anything anytime.  I still believe the team has given up on the HC.  I’m joining you but at -5.  Good luck to us.

So pumped for another term for Trump. Nothing better than seeing a bunch of close minded clueless liberals fail at every attempt to oust him and only make him more popular.

"And I don't really give a shi* who you are or what you think."

Are you that dim a bulb?

That comment related to WHY I post, hence the lead in.

It's actually COMPLIMENTARY as I DON'T discriminate when I post.

Again, set a higher bar for yourself in life.

You tried to make an as* of me and ended up looking like one yourself. Tell me after all the education you've allegedly received in life, you came away from that statement, in the context it was written, and said "Spoken like a true liberal.,,,"

And you wonder why you are viewed as a 'deplorable' by many...Because your mindset is deplorable and you outwardly exhibit that.

    Vern 165

And to those CONSTANTLY questioning why I cap such 'bad' teams, do you buy only Amazon stock at its 5 year high?

Good lord. With risk comes reward. These teams are risky but you'll be rewarded as the lines are typically poor, like this one is, if you dive in and get your feet wet.

I see your point about inflation, wages, and standard of living. Unfortunately, this simply isn't occurring:

    https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CUUR0000SA0L1E?output_view=pct_12mths

The U.S. is right around the FED's long-term target rate of 2%. Price of luxury items are increasing (believe me, in the process of booking the yearly trip to Hawaii and lodging is ridiculous), but staples are solid. Housing is a different matter altogether.

In any case, best of luck on your pick.

All understood but at the end of the day, you're betting on a very stupid lazy coach who gravy trained a reputation all the way down to here now...he's one of those dudes who's probably happy as long as he has enough money for barbeque, Colt 45 and toothpicks...so now you hope his team doesn't turn it over too many times, make stupid penalties, etc as they being ill-prepared usually do...

Are you kidding me? You send me a chart that verifys my point exactly.

FYI, when you read a chart about unemployment and when it goes straight down thats a good thing. So if you want to say things might of slowed from 2012-2013 , maybe. But there still are 3 more years of a downward trend that follow 2013.

Also you brought up the stock market. You boast about Trump's success while willfully ignoring Obama's.

Look I am not a political person at all. I can't stand that it made it to this forum. However if people are going to spew nonsense it needs to be checked.

Slowed a bit? A range of 9.1%-7.0% four years into a presidency? Please.

As for the markets, the growth in equities since election day 2016 has been robust. Perception became reality...a pro-business administration entered office. Investors went long. Simple as that.

By the way, who do you think drives our markets? Mainstreet mom and pop? Or international institutional capital?

The bottom line is this: The world is betting on US economic growth under Trump and didn't under Obama. Believe me, Rachel Maddow likes looking at her investment portfolio...and will miss Trump when he is gone.

As far as the economy and politics, thank Obama for wasting 7 years doing absolutely nothing to help the middle class and rebuild infrastructure...never created any incentives for companies to build factories here with better paying jobs including Tech..Trump is making better deals and our only hope is regaining the Middle Class...you got any suggestions on that, Scal??

Usually, the wife and I hit the Big Island or Kauia...the prices on Kauia are unbelievably high (about 300$ per night all-in), so it looks like the Big Island, Kona side.

Airfare isn't bad from Montana though...that is a plus.

6 years or 2 years or impeachment ()

I am completely gobsmacked by this line:

    Illinois -2 over Rutgers

    I'm riding with LOVIE.

    HOLY SHII****

For Rutgers to win this game, this is what they must overcome:

    1. Illinois is 2-2 and coming off a bye week.

All the time needed to study Rutgers flaws and there are too many to count on a team that lost 149-20 to OSU, Kansas and Buffalo before losing to Indiana this week. This is still very much the same exact team, if not a bit more confident with a very green QB still learning. Baby steps were taken. BABY steps. Not trampoline leaps...

    2. This is a revenge game for Illinois after RU broke a 16 game Big Ten losing streak to them last year.

RU couldn't beat anyone in the Big 10. That all changed last year.

They beat the Illini in their house 35-24 in an incredibly embarrassing loss for Lovie and Co.

Mind you, last years Rutgers team was a team that beat a bowl winning Purdue team (you think they'd be Purdue this year? Hell no!) and one that IMO, was a better RU team than this one by a tangible margin.

This is what Chris Ash said about LAST YEAR'S team:

"Nobody thought we could come in here and win this game"

He treated it like Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson, popping champagne in the city of Champaign. Literally, the scene in the locker room was like the 86 Mets after the ball got through Buckner's legs!

They didn't forget that game folks or the raucous celebration afterwards in their house.

    3. It's put up or shut up time for Lovie too...

Lovie is on a hotter seat than Ash, I can promise you that. Building on a 2-2 start to 3-2 will go a long way with the AD.

Good luck on the play and nice job getting a good number.

I still don't understand these "never post again" promises and contests.  So silly and juvenile.  Post/don't post, leave/don't leave, do whatever you want.  When add this dynamic to it it has an attention seeking theme to it.  I know you like the attention though, and that's fine.  So not knocking you.

    Hope you win though!  GL.
