San Miguel is still king after 2 playing weeks. They played an out of town game against a scrappy Globalport and Meralco team winning both by double digits. They were in control of both games and never looked back after establishing control. Junmar has been a monster on both outings and is pretty much the best player in the league.
Rain or Shine (2-0)
Current: 2
Previous: 4
Rain or Shine jumped two spots up. They were a bit sluggish in their opener but was able to regain their composure routing Mahindra Enforcers. They look deadly in most stretches as seen in both games winning by 9 and 14. They are a lot deeper this year and could be a real threat to win it all this conference. They are averaging league best 104ppg in 0.498 FG%.
Alaska Aces (2-0)
Current: 3
Previous: 2
I pegged an SMB-ALA finals this year. They were a revelation in their opener running the Texters to the ground by 16 turning them away in every run they made. They were however pretty shabby and looks out of it against a feisty Blackwater team. Vic Manuel and Chris Banchero have been great for the Aces with Jayvee Casio finally breaking out of a conference long slump.
Ginebra San Miguel (0-2)
Current: 4
Previous: 2
Ginebra San Miguel had glimpse of what is to come and two early setbacks dropped them to the 4th spot. They were a dud in their opener against the Hotshots and looked a bit lost in the triangle. They fizzled hard against Barako but saw a 21-point lead which is all from well executed offense, a stamp of a Tim Cone-coached team. Give them 2 (I personally think 3 more) games for them to start clicking. They look to be the best team defensively only allowing 84ppg. Fearless prediction here is that they'd barely make it in the playoffs.
NLEX (2-0)
Current: 5
Previous: 8
Leaped up 3 spots and tied in with everyone else up top in the standings. NLEX fought back from double digit deficit against Blackwater in their opener and have to hang on hard to fend a dangerous Barako team. Asi Taulava has been the MVP for this team with Sean Anthony averaging double-double for the squad. They'd get better as the team gel with the new comers. They have a very favorable schedule pitted against the cellar-dwellers.

Tropang Texters dropped down one spot but still look as dangerous as ever. They lost to Alaska but were in it the whole game. Box would tell you that they were all even in all 3 quarters. They lost RDO in what seems to be a conference ending injury to the back. They bounced back against Mahindra but definitely not the way they'd like. They were behind for most parts of the game and was even about to turn the game over. TNT will compete but will have to wait for their young core (Moe and Troy) to mature some more.

Jason Webb-lead Star have nothing to go but up. Despite a 1-2 start they were in it to win in both loses. Three early games is great for the newly coached team and could turn the conference around fast. They look good with the new system with almost 4 or 5 players averaging double figures in scoring. It looks like they still have a hangover with the loss of their multi-titled mentor.
Globalport (1-1)
Current: 8
Previous: 9
The early lost to an out of town game against San Miguel and their convincing win against the Star pushed them one rank up. This team is able to compete and if they keep improving will no doubt crack the upper half of the league. Stanley Pringle has been sensational in both games as well as the addition of Joseph Yeo on offense. Keith Jensen is starting to look like the player he was drafted years ago and this team will get better as they start gaining momentum. They'll be tested in the next weeks against a dangerous Barako and RoS team.
Barako Bull (1-1)
Current: 9
Previous: 10
Barako Bull came from a 21-point first quarter deficit and stayed within punching range until they were able to get a jump on and steal one against Ginebra. They have a good core in RR, JC and Wilson with a slew of new recruits finally being intergrated in head coach Koy Banal's system. They are a dangerous bunch who'll be in every game even against the top teams in the league.
Blackwater Elite (0-2)
Current: 11
Previous: 12
Blackwater despite an 0-2 start has been playing their best basketball after their maiden season. They were in it to win it against the Aces and even made late scares against a veteran team. They are in the bottom of the league in PPG with 82ppg but have improved tremendously defensively only allowing 88.5ppg. Leo Isaac finally made his mark on the team producing 4 players in double digits in both games.
Mahindra Enforcers (0-2)
Current: 12
Previous: 11
Mahindra Enforcers also improved from last season. They are a lot competitive now without an import. They already played tough teams in RoS and TnT losing by 16 and 4 respectively. They were in control of the game against TNT until the last few minutes of the game. With an out of the country game against Alaska then back at home to play NLEX, this Manny Pacquiao team looks to stay at the bottom till they can punch one in the win column.
