I have a small pick'em wager with a friend.  Just a half unit.  It's only to make the game more exciting for me to watch, because of the lackluster pond hockey playing style. 
 
And I think there's value in my half unit... Well, as much value as there is in literally flipping a coin.  This game IS a pick'em (unless of course Thomas plays net like he did in the elimination shootout tonight...).
 
Enjoy the game tomorrow all!  For those who are curious by the way, I tossed a coin, and ended up with the East, and my friend has the west.

weeble finds the good recent stats... scorpio looks into lines (often too much)... who's to say

as long as were all still winning, right

im betting the under last year they scored 15 and now this year crosby is not playing and the east got better goal tenders.. bet the under big

there is something to play for the winner gets home ice advantage in the stanley cup finals..............or at least that is how it was before to put the players to play with little more effort

is that still the way it works?.........if so, I am going with West to win this game.......since Sharks and Det are probably going. I like Scorp's analysis........tough game to call but PL +170 looks nice but dont think it will happen

No way, never heard of such a thing. That's how baseball plays their all-star game which is what the NHL should do.

This could be the lowest scoring all star game in history. not that the players arent good, its a night of superior goal tending.

2 Equal teams

Lines of -110 to -135 just cover the homefield advantage and leaves the impression of a fair price. Usually a loser.

2 Different teams (one good, one bad) 

If bad team is favored in that -110 to -135 range,more than likely a winner.

There's always different scenario's to consider when reading lines.but hope you understand where i'm coming from.

Scorp I'm a fan of yours, but IMO you cant just pick games that have fishy lines every night.  You have to take everything into consideration

Don't waste your time taking a side.  Put some fun money on a few props and enjoy it.
 
If I had to take a side I would take the West.
 
But for a +170 payback and with the OU so high I say what the hell and lay some cash on that +170
 
The all star game is just a dog and pony show anyway. Not a real game, just something for the die hard fans of pucks.

I didnt know that Lipps, good info.... there are a ton of good guys out there tonight but great goaltending..... maybe I will bet the under.

I actually had a dream that I saw the final.  The East won 2-0.  That would be fun

About a third of these things end up being one-goal games, so I might stay away from the puckline. It's not unusual to see the side with the big lead let up a little to keep the game close/entertaining. I'd probably just take the dog.

In the past 9 years the goal totals in the all-star game have been 15, 14, 13, 26, 13, 11, 10, 21 and 15. The under is 7-2 in that span.

That said, if I were betting, I'd be throwing a wee amount of money on the over. Don't ask me why...
