Is it just because they are a huge public team like the Patriots being favored in games no matter what? Both teams playing like crap.

Feels more like a pk game but since at Dallas they get 3 points.

I do like Dallas only because of letdown for Lions. They just won their superbowl last week against the Patriots. Also, they play GB after Dallas so a look ahead as well.

On the other side, Dallas struggling and they are playing tougher teams coming up like Jaguars. They need to win the easier ones against teams like the Lions. Jaguars game will be sad for them.

Zeke is extra motivated after turnovers last week and maybe has monster game against Lions.

    What do you guys think?

Also, Seahawks - 3 line bugging me. How the hell they - 3 against Cardinals with rookie qb with no weapons. I know their true line would be - 6 but since on road, give 3 points to Cardinals to make it - 3.

I think Seahawks crush them 9 out of 10 unless Rosen pulls a Josh Allen.

I've been a Cowboys fan since I was 6 and i've been capping and wagering on football since elementary school. I haven't capped this game but at a glance I would say you answered your own question in the first paragraph. One of the biggest factors in oddsmakers setting a line is public perception. At the end of the day, on most games they just want to draw equal action on both sides and pocket the juice. Every now and then, theh use the public's perception against them and try to draw the majority of the action on a particular side.

Now to the Cowboys. As you mentioned, teams like the Cowboys are gonna draw lopsided action. They have huge fanbases and they are often perceived to be better than they are. (This is more so true of the Cowboys than the Patriots.) If the oddmakers installed the Lions as a favorite, or even made this PK, they would get lopsided action on the boys.

Long story short, Dallas wins.  Why?  Because they saw the performance of the Lions on Sunday Night Football and this line is clearly bait for the public.  Ask yourself, "Why would a good team get points and a bad team give points?"  It doesn't make sense right?  As with sports betting, you have to go against your gut sometimes even though you don't like it.  My advice is to wait for the public to pound the +3 down to +2.5 because that's as low as it's gonna get, then take the -2.5 for Dallas.  Vegas and the books are predicting a fg victory by the Cowboys so that "hook" will come in handy..

They're favored because Dallas oline will eat Detroit front 7 alive.  Dak sucks, but this game will be a zeke game.  Dallas defense is solid enough to hold Detroit to 20ish, and they should be able to run the ball effectively putting Dallas in a lot of short third down and red zone opportunities.  Keep in mind the Patriot's team we've seen recently is extremely thin/injured on both sides of the ball.  Look at what bortles did to them.  Dallas prob wins a 24-20 type game.

Dallas is playing with a garbageman as qb, they have no talent at wr, and Zeke cant win all by himself...Dallas should be faded indefinitely until Garrett gets the boot

Dallas is playing with a garbageman as qb, they have no talent at wr, and Zeke cant win all by himself...Dallas should be faded indefinitely until Garrett gets the boot

    Lazy line by the books.

They can throw 3's on almost every game.

Detroit will load the box against Zeke and make Dak throw. Have you seen Dak theow? It's not working. Aikman made a comment last broadcast he doesnt even think they have a down field pass in the playbook for him. Im destroying teasers currently so im taking lions +10 and +16. BoL

Beating New England right now doesn’t add value like before - an_violin NFL is week 2 week - Dallas will run all over the Lions -Zek will come close to 200 yards rushing - case closed

Dallas Oline banged up and sucking right now. Dak sucks. The WRs suck. Garrett sucks. Secondary is ok but you can get behind them. Front 7 is legit.

Stump believe me- lions get roll - Dallas defense is way better then New England -even with a bang up O-line it’s still going get tremendous push vs the lions

    D-line on Sunday

Not sure if the lions defense is coming around or just that patricia knows the Pats. But I think the lions are getting it together. I am leaning so far to go heavy on the lions. Stafford has the firepower to come back if needed also

The defense is way better but the offense sucks. Dak does not look like an NFL QB, Zeke has not had a real monster game since he came back from suspension, last year. These WRs all suck and the o-line, which was the strength, is a shell of it's former self.

I'm not saying the Cowboys can't win, I hope they do. What I am saying is I wouldn't bet on them with this offense.

I said in another thread that Dak looks afraid to pull the trigger downfield. He's so afraid to make a mistake that he holds the ball for 5 seconds, which you can't do in the NFL. And Garrett's offense is stagnant. He lacks the creativity to get these subpar WRs open.

Like I said, i'm just a die-hard Cowboys fan. So I watch almost every game. There are plays that I watch multiple times and even in slo-mo. And i'm not sold on Dak, and i've never been sold on Garrett. I thought Sean Payton would've been a better direction to go in over 10 years ago. I though Wade Philips was headed in the right direction but Jerry was all about Garrett. That's how Jerry Jones is, he locks on to guys.

And Granted Wade Phil is a better D Coordinator than a head coach, and granted Garrett has had some decent years, but it just seems as if the game has gotten by him. And having Dak as a QB isn't helping.

I think this is actually a pretty good breakdown.

Schedule spots are very important to consider, and letdown/look ahead spots ARE very real.

The NFL is a "Stock Market" League (Buy Low/Sell High)

I'm not saying the Cowboys are a bad pick. I'm saying there are better things on the board. It's true, people are reading too much into the Lions beating a bad NE team but this is a bad Cowboys team. I like the defense but the offense lacks personnel and over all identity.

Initially, I do not see either side as a good play. Since I am technical handicapper, lets look at the win loss records. Cowboys are (1-2-0) and the Lions are (1-2-0). Cowboys average points for is 13.66 and their points against is 17.66. Lions average points for is 23.33 and points against is 29.33. Garbage In ... Garbage Out ...

My usual analysis is more sophisticated than this. I just did this basic example as an illustration.

I have a new performance metric where I examine the difference between offensive yards per play and defensive yards per play. I also use points for and points against in the formula. Both teams have 2 games where they had a negative delta factor rating and 1 game with a positive delta factor rating.

As a KISS concept, I would fade a poor performing visiting team and just go with the home team considering the line. As a betting recommendation, I suggest skipping this contest.
