You should look into the Monday night game with Philly laying 7 to Washington. I think it's a great spot for Philly coming off a road loss, then coming back home to a packed house on monday night. Washington is slightly improved from last year but there defense looked so good because they were up against a terrible Miami offense. Philadelphia is certainly the better team even at a neutral site, and now coming back home off an ugly loss. I'll take the Eagles laying a td at home vs. a so so Redskins team anyday.

I just want to say that I am new to the site, although i've been viewing the forum for years and am very appreciative of your capping ability over that time. Keep up the good work, love the value lines.

I dont know about Miami's defense not being good, I mean some of Randle El's catches were circus catches, that i dont think could be repeated. Washinton only had 3 points at the half @ home. Miami's redzone defense certainly is strong and the pass rush has to be top 3 in the league. Campbell got a lot of pressure. Dallas's defense was just as bad as New Yorks. They still rushed for 114 yards on em, playing catch up and with their Backup RB. Eli threw for 312 and 4 TDs with ease and would have surely got that 5th TD and made the game more interesting if he was able to go. This is a great situation for Trent Green who needs a trashy secondary to get his confidence up. Chambers will be just like Burress out there, since Dallas doesnt have a shutdown corner
Is Miami's redzone defense that good? Or is Washingtons redzone offense that bad? Just like they were last year.
No way is Dallas D as bad as NYG. It was just bad tackling. Dallas D actually made some plays. Their coaching philosophy is that of San Diego last season. Get ahead then go after the QB.
Chambers is overrated...how many drops did he have against washington? I watched the whole game. All Trent Green did was dink and dunk to death. HALF of his completion were to the runningbacks.
The Giants had a good gameplan against Dallas, short drops and get rid of the ball quick before the rush got to Eli.

A secondaries best friend is a strong pass rush. Dallas was able to get pressure on Eli and force a couple errant throws and eventually knocked him out of the game. Along with a few other of their players. The Dallas front 7 is very physical and should feast on this trashy oline.

EDizzle... what exactly do you mean "Dallas was able to get pressure on Eli and force a couple errant throws and eventually knock him out of the game"??
I mean, the knocking him out of the game is about right since they slammed him to the ground... that could happen to any quarterback on any play... as for the pressure that caused errant throws... well, Eli did have over 300 yards and threw for 4 tds. He also completed 28 passes with only 11 incompletes... and the one interception where Plaxico fell down on his route... don't get me wrong, I agree that Dallas' defense is physical and will be okay on the long run, but Eli was picking them apart alot more than they were pressuring him. I think Dallas has a good offense and will be able to move the ball on alot of teams, but don't expect them to face defenses that are going to leave the middle wide open for them all night long like the Giants did. Kiwi is still learning the linebacker position and their secondary is horrible... the cowboys are going to struggle against tough defenses.

XFL, this is the perfect team for jax to face as they look to rebound. 10 points is alot. I definetly wont lay it. Im under the assumption that they have a good defense, but Atlanta is a real rushing team, they may wear the Jags down if their backs get like 40 carries
Not quite so sure my Falcs will be able to run this weekend. Tennessee ran what I think will (if it already hasn't) revolutionize football (at every level): the spread offense. Vince ran it in college and he's doing it again in the pro's. JAX couldn't defend it. ATL does not run it and doesn't have the personnel to. I don't know how their going to move the ball at all... JAX D will bounce back.

I never said Eli didnt pick them apart, Eli was taking 3 step drops and getting the ball out real quick to beat the rush. Once again....good gameplan.
My point was that Dallas was able to get some pressure, they had guys running free, it was just that Eli was able to get the ball off most times.
They were able to force a couple rushed and bad throws. This all came after the first bomb to plax on the first series. They didnt do much in the 1st and 2nd quarter after that till the 2:00 warning.
Here are some examples from KEY downs in the game for the Giants.
1st Quarter 4th and 2 at DAL 34(3:20) (Shotgun) E.Manning pass incomplete short left to J.Shockey (K.Hamlin).
2nd Quarter 3rd and 7 at NYG 23(12:15) (Shotgun) E.Manning pass incomplete short left to D.Ward. Pass tossed in left flat; Ratliff heavy pressure.
3rd and 7 at NYG 29(7:52)
(Shotgun) E.Manning pass intended for P.Burress INTERCEPTED by J.Reeves
at NYG 41. J.Reeves to NYG 23 for 18 yards (D.Ward).....I know Plax slipped but still a key down and the play was still made.
3rd Quarter 3rd and 8 at DAL 30(5:58)
(Shotgun) E.Manning pass incomplete deep right to P.Burress (J.Reeves).
Reeves broke up the pass 5 yards deep right corner of the end zone.
Ware heavy pressure on the quarterback.
3rd and 3 at NYG 26(3:23) E.Manning pass incomplete short middle to R.Droughns [A.Spencer].

that 1st quarter 4th and 2 play was not really defensive pressure... the Cowboys sent Roy Williams on a blitz and he was picked up... Eli had time but he took too long and spears had backed O'Hara into him... which forced him to throw a quick pass to shockey, but was never even touched... I think he was more scared that Ware or Spencer were behind him since he was taking so long, but nobody was close to him there...
on the 2nd quarter play with 12:15 left, Ratliff went in untouched... nobody picked him up... that was the O-Lines' fault more than it was great defensive pressure....
the third play was Plaxi falling, like we stated...
the funny thing about that 3rd and 8 play in the third quarter was that the play before that, when it was 2nd and 8, Eli threw a 20 yarder to the 10 yard line to Plaxi that he dropped right in his hands.. should've been an easy catch and a first and 10 at the 10... but the 3rd and 8 play was legit.. that's probably the only play you listed where Dallas really put pressure on Eli... Ware went through Diehl and got a hand in to at least touch Eli on the back.. enough to cause a quick throw...
the last play you have there was the play where Eli got hurt... Spencer went in on a blitz and again, nobody picked him up.. he went in completely untouched...
these are kind of plays that if a good defense picks up these blitzes, there would not be much pressure...
also, I could bring up a few plays as well where the Giants defense actually pressured Romo... that didn't mean there were any good that night... hehe.

Bufs/Pit will go over. Remember this post. Other than that I like your analysis. I took Tenn on the money line and made a killing so I still like them this week. i lost my ass on Baltimore though so i guess it all evens out right? anyway thanks for the info.

Slingzz---Minnesota has beaten Detroit at least the last ten times they have faced them(that's not a monkey but a guerilla on Detroit's back). That said, in those ten they covered the spread 6 of 10, to me that means that Vegas pretty much have these two teams figured out. So yeah, the spread looks about right. If I were to bet this, I would like to see the spread move to 4 and then take the Vikings. Vike's may give them a lot of yards between the twenties, but this defense won't give up the touchdowns easily. Winner should be in the low twenties.
Intrigued by the Jaks/Atlanta game, a lot of points to give up to a good running team like Atlanta.
Also like Dallas against the Dolphins, a lot of team's go down to Miami early in the season and have trouble with the heat, wouldn't expect this of Dallas.
Just some thoughts, GL this week

Becarful with Dallas. Romo did put up great numbers but they did it in the 2nd half..Giants "D" were gassed. They had no pass rush what so ever and still Romo turned the ball over at a critical time in the 4th Quarter. Also Dallas's defense really did a poor job both on rush and pass defense. Miami's D was not great but they still only gave up 17 points. I am not saying to pick Miami I just hope people don't get caught up in the offense that Dallas put up because there where definatley circumstances that contibuted to all those points for Dallas.

Dizzle....Miami's defense is that good. You have a defense full of probowlers in Taylor, Thomas, porter just to name a few. Washington scored 1 touchdown at home, couldnt run the ball at all through 2 quarters and really had a tough time catching the ball. How many times did Santana Moss drop balls that should be caught and would be caught against another defense. Miami was hitting hard and really dominated Washington's pass game. Take away that hail mary pass at the end of the 4th quarter that Randle El caught and he only threw for like 165 yards.
I know Romo is a little bit better and should provide a much more potent attack, but this is Romo on the road and this same defense at home now. I just re-watched the game last night, i wouldnt call his plays dink and dunk. Every pass to a RB is not dink and dunk. I think thats a great option for the Miami team as both Ronnie Brown and Jesse Chatman can catch the ball as opposed to most other teams running backs. When these guys get in the option field they can be very explosive. I didnt catch Chris Chambers dropping alot of balls, maybe Marty Booker and their Tight end, but give credit to the Washington DEfense, this defense is actually pretty good. Please do not look at the numbers they put up last year, last year there were injuries, locker room issues etc. The year before they were #1 in Total Defense and this year are much more focused and definetly, definetly much better than Dallas's defense.
You need to show me proof that Eli was pressured, because i did not see it at all. Eli was calm and cool in the pocket and he wasnt getting rid of the ball early, how do you throw passes for first down yardage that often by getting rid of the ball early ? I wouldnt call the Miami O-Line trashy either, young and unproven maybe, but they only gave up 2 sacks in week 1, which is pretty much league average. Personally, I've never known the Dallas Cowboys to be a sacking team.

Zonacats, I dont know about that Jacksonville D. Over the past 3 games going back to last year they are giving up 190 yards a game on the ground. There not as good as they were 2 years ago when they went 12-4 and made the playoffs. Some days they have these games where they give up 50 yards on the ground and some games they let 200 go. Atlanta provides a great change-up with Dunn-Norwood and Joey was a starter for years in this league. Im pretty sure Atlanta will score especially after last weeks performance. Im with you though, im just about ready to call for the Miami SU this week as well.
Stonepilot, i wouldnt put much stock into Minny beating Detroit 10 times in a row...thats a 5 year span..none of the Detroit offense was on this team 5 years ago. Last year Minnesota was a much better team than they are this year, having had the #1 rush defense and all. I agree with you, they are tight in the red zone, but i expect Detroit to be in there more often than not and with their passing game, they dont need to be in the redzone to score.

I play pinny and the game is offline but wondering what you guys think the line in the GB/NYG line would be with Eli vs Lorenzen? Also how much would it change the total?
