Van- I mean keyboard worrior please understand this. The touchdown was called a touchdown and the steelers were up by a point. Theres a rule and please look it up . Its in instant replay. If the review doesnt change the outcome of the game then it is not reviewable at the ending of the half and game. This play was not reviewable it doesnt change the outcome of game. What does it change? It changes the outcome of the spread. I will no lnger bet on NFL. I am staying with college and basketball. This is Bull shet. Also i love your Avataar. Isnt that the dude that exposed you on you tube and made an azz of you. Well tool you may have your opinion but it is a fix no matter how you look at it.

good point, why wouldn't many teams at the end of halfs try this, no harm if they fumble, so worth the risk.....to me, the NFL wants all of these forums to get everyone confused so no one will ever know.

I realize emotions are high and I posted before I knew for 100% which rule was applied.

I lost bigger than all of you on this game.
 
They reviewed it for some reason at the end of the game - not sure why - and LT's lateral probably did go forward - but it is so close.  I think its just one of those things.
 
The rule about the line of scrimmage I posted above is a real rule - but not the one applied here.

They simply called that the first lateral - LT's first lateral to Chambers went from the 26 to the 26.5 - so once it went forward - it was an illegal forward pass.  I have no idea why it cant be run back and then the penalty refused, but apparantly that is the rule.
 
Sorry for the confusion of the thread - I was trying to figure it out with everyone else - Bermand and the SD radio announcer said the same thing and I was passing it on.....
 
And the rule about the line of scrimmage came from a friend who is a college ref an explained what he though - and is still a rule - but not what was applied here.
 
It was a simple forward lateral, and when you watch it it is very close - but I have no idea why they would choose to review that and overturn it.

 And I feel myself f*cking stupid betting it.

Yawn. "it is still a rule" Whatever man. You're wrong. Backwards passes can be advanced.
 
You finally figured out they called a forward pass here, that is the official call. What everyone is complaining about is it doesn't look to me that there was. At least not by indisputable evidence.
 
As for the rest of the crap about line of scrimmage, whatever. Learn the rules. Its been posted. You can advance BACKWARDS laterals anywhere on the field.

Not sure where this bs about the backward pass going back past the line of scrimmage comes from.

You can go to nfl.com now to watch highlights of the steelers game, they include this play.

Rivers passes to LT past the line of scrimmage, he runs up and flips it to number 89, who laterals back, but no where near the line of scrimmage, troy bats it back, recovers and scores.

So the vanzack lateral back behind the line of scrimmage after crossing the line of scrimmage is all bs.

BUT

the LT lateral was probably a hair forward, so it was called an illegal forward pass by the booth, play is dead, no TD.

Sucks, but that is what they called, it probably was the right call, look for yourself.

But, I still cannot believe they actually reviewed it.

Van, you need a new t.v. if you think that ball was passed forward.
Maybe to many hits on the bong today for you.  That was a backward pass if there ever was one. 
 
Only thing i agree with you on is, why the refs would review that. 
 
NFL is corrupt, you just have to hope every week you can land on the outcomes the nfl wants to happen.

The lateral did not go forward.  No way.
 
San Diego got penalized once during the game, Pittsburgh 13 times.
 
You can draw your own conclusions on the rest.  I'm not a big "fix" guy, but....

No way either one went forward!!  Have it on DVR and have watched it numerous times, a lateral can be advanced, period!

FYI:  A backwards lateral is a live ball, and yes, can be advanced
        by either team.  I know this as a fact.  So whoever is telling
        some of you differently, their wrong, and don't understand
        the rules of the NFL.  This was not a Muff, which cannot
        be advanced.

I have watched it about 10 times, and it is very close to going forward.
 
I think it probably did, but it is one of those calls that usually wouldnt be "conslusive evidence".
 
It is my opinion that it did in fact go forward - but I have no idea why they reviewed it - much less overturned it.
 
Once again, I am sorry for the confusion of this thread.  I was trying to figure it out along with everyone else, and posted too early.  Give me a break.  I apologize.
 
One of the worst / best / wins / losses I have ever had.   Just goes to show you that if you gamble long enough you will see everything.  That is a 40K swing for me, so Im licking my wounds too.

I agree.  I do think it went forward, but am unclear as to why they would review it, and overturn it.

Maybe we will see a different angle sometime soon that will clarify it.

CD329 - it does appear that LT starts at about the 26 and chambers gets it at about the 26.5.
 
It is very slight.  Im not sure why they reviewed it.
 
But that is their call.

Definitely integrity issues with the NFL.  The only piece of this whole thread I am willing to dispute is whoever called out Polamolu for betting on his own team .... R you serious? ... Troy is one of the few good guys who plays with a passion and plays hard every play .. as a Steeler fan who watches every game .. this is quite obvious.  There was also another shady play in the game where Ben was out of the pocket and the refs picked up an illegal contact flag on SD stating you are allowed to interfere with the receivers if the QB is out of the pocket .. never heard that one before either ... Big reason why I am a CFB fan.  I think penalties were like 17 - 1 in Pittsburgh favor .. oh wait 2 .. the last one was on SD.

agreed, why review it, and even then, it was so close, really one of theose if they call it one way or the other, it should not be overturned, but they did.

Van, I am not a conspiracy theory, nfl is fixed guy by any stretch, but this was very very shaky

The real question everyone here is missing is "WHO ARE THE BOOTH PEOPLE?"  and "WHEN DO THEY GET TO STEP IN AND OVERRIDE A REFS CALL".   Did the Ref call for a review?  You all are right, seems a very fishy call...by the Booth People

The ironic thing is that SD finally had a penalty called on them, and it fucked Pitt backers.
