You finally figured out they called a forward pass here, that is the official call. What everyone is complaining about is it doesn't look to me that there was. At least not by indisputable evidence.
 
As for the rest of the crap about line of scrimmage, whatever. Learn the rules. Its been posted. You can advance BACKWARDS laterals anywhere on the field.

But my explanation is a very zealous NFL booth ref that was trying to do his job to the best he could.

In the end - he seemed to make the right call - and if it is your job to make that call - I guess you do it.

It sucks, I cant really feel good about any of it - but I choose to think that the most likely explanation is a guy trying to do his job rather than some massive conspiracy.  If the game was fixed - why would it have been close to begin with?  Doesnt make sense.

1.  Why review it?

and

2.  Why reverse it, when the evidence was far less than indisputable?

I watched the replay also and it does apparently appear that even though LT threw the ball behind his back that the ball did go forward.  It is deceiving to watch.

Question is, when will we get that apology from VanSack for making up his own rules since he called on someone else to apologize?

Even if it WAS an illegal forward pass, couldn't Pittsburgh just decline the penalty, or is the play automatically dead at the spot?

The refs called a slight forward lateral by LT at the 26.  Shit happens.

I did not "make up rules" and I wont apologize for that.  I cited my sources - even though in retrospect Berman and the SD radio announcers arent the best sources.

The heat of the moment got me, and I was trying to figure it out, with about 15 beers in me - after an emotional roller coaster with a 40K swing.  Maybe you can understand here.

Agreed - I got it wrong - my buddy who is a ref got it wrong - Berman and the SD radio guys got it wrong.

Vanzach is correct.  I lost but It was the correct call.  As far as reviewing the TD is concerned, they will always review a score regardless of whether it determines the outcome of the game or not.  For you guys that are crying because you think its fixxed you need to chill out and not factor your money into your decision making abilities.

So why did the ref say that the penalty is declined and it results in a touchdown? Then it goes from 17 - 10, to 11 -10 with no further explaination.
 
Not only that you can call holding on every play in the NFL. They never call holding in the last min of any game. How many times have you seen that this year? You wont see it again either unless there is another fix on. I just happen to be on the right side of this one.

I lost a bunch of money on this disaster as well but your above statement would be correct in my opinion.
Review booth should have let the play go. Instead they chose to review it and unitentionally create intense controversy fixing and gambling. Wooops.

it is absurd to look past the most obvious issue--the number.  when people throw the term "vegas" around, we realize that vegas doesn't take a huge amount of bets anymore, but other places do.  it's like calling a facial tissue "kleenex."  wow, some analogy.

but, as someone stated above, there is NO way that play would have been reviewed if pittsburgh already had the number.

whatever.  accept that many games are going to go your way, and many games aren't, and just hope you can pick more winners than losers.
in a hundred games, 50 probably come down to chance.  25-25.
if you're awesome, and pick at a 70% rate on the others, then you're 35-15.  that gets you 60% in the long run.

we should all be so lucky.

ok i didnt bet on this game and im glad i didnt. The holding call was very legitimate as the guys arm was being held when he could have made a tackle.  but come on guys everything else that happened was so fishy.  Only penalty sd gets is one in the first quarter on some bullshit call that they had got a first down on the play anyways so didnt even matter.  They immediately after give sd a free touchdown basically by calling a horrible passing interference call against pittsburg where antonio gates i think it was basically jsut runs right into a defender and somehow is defensive passing interference and sd gets the ball at the goal.  Meanwhile pittsburg gets penalized for over 100 yards in the game.  Anyways i can see all this stuff happening jsut because the refs are so shitty at what they do anyways.

But what happened at the end of the game solidified it for me the game was rigged.  There was no conclusive evidence to overturn that call, the outcome of the game remains the same.  And the only outcome it served was to decide who covers the spread. 

None of us are gonna be able to prove it was a fix but i think it was.  I dont get how people still dont understand that games get fixed on occasion.  We have solid proof that nba games were rigged for years and the commissioner allowed it to continue to happen for years for "proper investigation".  Also all the other refs involved like the ones donahue would call before and after the games have not been accounted for.  The commissioners are in on it too. 

And ya we dont have an nfl ref being tried by the fbi right now. but that doesnt mean everything is clean.  People seem to think donahue is the only ref to ever rig anything.  Hes jsut the only one to get caught.  There are plenty more of the same.  Also fixes happen so rarely that its hard to ever really know if it was a fix or jsut terrible ref who are terrible when jsut trying to do their job normally.  So think what you want but for me i know when millions of dollars get thrown around shady things happen from time to time.

I had Pitt myself, what you going to do ?? Not bet the NFL anymore ? Yeah right. I think they totally made the wrong call here, unfortunately there isn't a single thing any of us can do to change it. Tough to take, but chalk it up as "one for ages" fellas !
 
By the way, this is bringing back terrible flashbacks of another game that I lost money on...."the Music City Miracle" !! I lost more that than today though...I'll never forget that freakin' game !!

Listen people, if you don't know the rules how can you wager on the sport. IT is simple. You throw the ball backwards and it is a fumble. There is no excuse for the blown call, not reviewing it and not changing the score.

In no way can you be officiating in the NFL and not know the rule on a backwards pass. It wasn't even close. This isn't like a PI or a open hand or a holding penalty that actually occired to decide a game it was amade up call that could have been reviewed and they didn't do it to "get it right". That is the issue I have.

I lost a small amount on this contoversial call and that sucks...Vansack i feel for u...Be smart MNF, dont chase, but you already know that. I watched the replay about 8-10 times and I think that L.T.'s "lateral" did in fact go slightly forward. I guess as some stated that they have to review any play involving a score, and thats why this one was. It is one of the strangest endings I've lost money on in a long time. I dont like the glaring difference in penalties given to each team. But once again I've seen that on more than one occasion. So I dont buy into the "fixed" thing too much, actually not at all...I'am gonna set my sights on MNF and move on...

the rule is you can't advance a fumble in the 4th quater if you are on OFFENSE
if a running back, quarterback, wide receiver, whomever fumbles and the defense recovers they can run it back for a TD which they did
