man the Jets strong suit is stopping the run and the chargers will kill them through the air.
I am also wondering if the Jets have a chance in this game why the line isnt closer to a TD instead of practilly double digits
Vegas is trying to sucker u into taking a generous line with the jets. I would love to take the +9 but this makes me wonder if im being a square for doing so..
if revis can limit the big play from vjack (and being that WR1's are avging under 35 ypc against him this year i think he'll be ok), and kerry rhodes can limit Gates, I think they can limit rivers effectiveness. Their run-game is bottom-feeder NFL as KOAJ mentioned, the only thing I worry about is Sproles countering our blitz on some misdirections/counters leading to a big play w/ his speed. LT has lost a few steps, I dont worry about him.
Rhodes has been on a tear the last couple weeks. A lot of us have been on him all season for half-assing it, but since the blasting he received on twitter after the NE game, he has been on a tear and did a great job blanketing Gonzalez w/ help in zone coverage a couple weeks back, held him to 3 catches i think but that damn late TD was the killer.
Gonzo nowhere near the same class as Gates. Gates, Davis, and Clark in the top tier. Gonzo in the 2nd tier with Witten, etc.
Agree that LT is nothing to be worried about, Id be more concerned with Sproles. Rivers will not miss the open receivers like Palmer. The only question is will he have enough time to throw - will the line and backs be able to pick up the blitz, and will he be able to make the hot reads. Does anyone have stats on Rivers vs the Blitz? Please share.
San Diego cant stop the run/cant run the ball - something ive trashed them for the last 2 years, but you know what? it doesnt seem to matter as they just keep on winning.

Biased and going to the game ... the electric feel and vibe in this town is incredible ... this team is humble ready and focused, veteran core group of players been together many years, many playoff games together. They got off the mat early in the season , 11 straight although that means chit right now, beating the entire NFC East, traveling to TEN and spanking them in their own backyard. ready and battletested. now rested and ready to unleash on Sanchez. Watched every single play, been to every game, hard to beat the Chargers at the Q. This team could have run up the score many a time and puffed up the stats, team before everything else. Philip is mad the MVP wasnt close, he wants his ring, he needs his ring, eli and ben already got theirs.

This time of year ...any bye week is GOLD. San Diego is rested, and at home. The Jets will be facing a much different offense than Cincinatti. San Diego relies on the pass and screens. I doubt that Revis will be on an island with Vincent Jackson all day. He will need help. Jackson is one of the top 4 receivers in the league. I have been a huge Revis fan this year....he is fantastic but tough matchup for him. In addition, the Jets are 31st in the league against the pass! SD offense vs Jets pass defense is the # 1 factor in this game in my opinion. The Jets better get a GREAT pass rush all game.
On the other hand, can Sanchez put 24 to 30 points on the board? San Diego will put points on the board. Can Sanchez come from behind? Recent QBs who have made the Superbowl (Warner, Rothlisberger, Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli needed a few years before SB, McNab). A TALL order for a rookie with a shortened college career and really little NFL playoff experience. The Jets run game and defense will need to score touchdowns NOT field goals, and control the clock all game.
Special Teams -- the JETS kick coverage has been HORRIBLE. Their biggest achilles heel hands down. Darren Sproles should get 20+ yards per kick. San Diego's punter and FG kicker are the best in the league - no question.

Correction the Jets are # 1 in the league against the pass - MY ERROR. This is huge. If they can control San Diego receivers then, they can control the game.

Many said GB had a great pass defense- what happen? NE doesn't turnover the ball- what happen? Dallas can't beat Eagles 3 in a row- what happen? Stats are great but things do change- if they didn't, there wouldn't be any need for stats.
SD run D might not be great but thats because you have to worry about the pass also- does SD really have to worry that much about the pass with the Jets? The Bengals just didn't know how to do man coverage so they got burnt by a QB that was throwing lobs.
Please do not compare this Defense to the 2000 Ravens. That defense was completely dominant and I'm sorry but the Jets D is not even close. Ced Benson just torched u for 169 yards!!! I love everybody's enthusiasm on trying to dig up reasons why the Jets will win this weekend but lets face it....SD are the better team and will show it on Sunday. It was a nice gift u were given to even make the playoffs and play a weak first round opponent but now its time for the big boys and after Sunday we'll all know who didn't belong.
