Rare POY brewing in the Forecast for Week 9
Nice record ,floyd.
Uriss, if any of us gave a flying @#$% about your opinion we'd be reading your thread. For someone who claims to "only be worried about the integrity of this forum", one would think you'd do your best to avoid all this drama.
I'll take this opportunity to speak for the masses. We come on this forum to see how other cappers( perhaps better cappers) are picking games we'd like to bet. The vast majority of us rarely or never post. If we wanted to listen to know-it-alls and drama queens we'd quit gambling and hang out with our wives. 10+ posts on this thread and not one helpful bit of info. That, my friend, is an attention person.
Excellent post. I'm here to see what smarter capers than I have to say about certain games. I take it all in and then decide how I'm going to bet. Having so many different opinions forms the best decisions for me, and I appreciate everything FF and the like have to say. Tout or no tout. If someone has a strong opinion on a game, I want to read it. Plain and simple.

It's not just that the Jets played poorly last week. For those who watch the games and don't just look at the box scores or win/loss records, one could see the tide turning in their game against the Vikings, a game the Jets were somewhat "lucky" for winning or at least covering. The Vikings dropped at least a couple sure interceptions thrown their way. If Favre hits Percy Harvin who was wide open with about 40 yards in front of him instead of throwing it over his head, the Jets probably lose that game outright. Alas, Favre throws a pick six the next play and the Jets are still untouchable world beaters. Their next game at Denver was an even worse performance by the Jets, a game they were truly outplayed in and did not deserve the win and subsequent cover they received. Not only did the Broncos drop several potential interceptions thrown directly into their breadbasket (at least one of which was a guaranteed pick six), a botched snap on a short field goal deprived them of 3 easy points. In addition, the miracle 4th and long throw where the Broncos DB pulls the facemask, setting up the go ahead touchdown, happens maybe 4% of the time. The Jets were getting every bounce, every break in those two games at critical moments.
Maybe the Jets bounce back this week or maybe the Jets aren't as good as everyone thinks they are. Maybe the teams in this league have started to adjust to the dynamic things they were doing on offense weeks 2-4. Maybe the Jets make the proper adjustments to rectify the poor offensive showing of late. It's questions like these that remind us that sports handicapping is no sure thing, otherwise we'd all be billionaires.
Regardless, it's still tough to win on the road in this league. What have the Jets shown you in the past 3 weeks that makes you think they are a dominant team capable of just turning the switch on for their offense. The Lions have played their hearts out week in, week out. They will continue to do so with a big challenge coming into their building. This line is saying the Jets would be a 10 point favorite at home against the Lions. How many Jets backers would be on the Lions in that situation?

The NFC North has not been kind to the Jets so far. From just a glance, Lions look like the play. Its nice that theres no rush for potential Lions backers.

For all the posts about how opportunistic or "lucky" the Lions have been in their recent games the exact same thing can be said for the Jets. The Jets are a good team, they are not an elite team. They played extremely well for a three game stretch against the Pats, Dolphins, and Bills. During this stretch, the Jets went away from their normal offense and opened up the playbook for Sanchez. As a result I think teams were caught off guard. Sanchez played brilliant during that stretch with no interceptions.

I couldn't have said it better. And when u have the Broncos outclassing u...ur not that good! I'm not saying the Lions will win this one for sure, but its def. not gonna be the blowout that some of the Jets backers seem to believe.

I also appreciate the kind words members have offered that have either seen or contributed in my threads the past few years, and know how I have represented myself around here through my posts and picks.
I am pretty confident in my play, but to try and keep things fun around here, if a cold front pushes through in the forecast and the POY doesn't work out..... this is what you will see as my avatar for the forecast next week https://oi52.tinypic.com/vdpmdk.jpg . Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Let's keep things fun, and all have a profitable Week 9.

Don't be a baby bro, you brought in on yourself with the title of the thread and the way you went about everything...delaying the pick, saying ur record speaks for itself, and so on... You are not on that level man... Be a man... and if you win your bet you get to be a hero..yay for u
Lol dude you are a huge hyprocrite. The only baby i've seen so far in this thread is definitely you. The guy has less than 400 posts and on top of that he was #1 in nfl on covers contests picking ats and you actually had the balls to say he doesn't know sh*t about the nfl he is just craving attention....
Dude nobody cares about your opinion just stfu and let him say what he wants. We don't need someone like you looking out for us like a parent because we are too "stupid to see the real truth" like you claim to know. You have done nothing to help anybody ![]()

There is a system that goes against the Lions here.
From 1992-2009 there have been 18 times this siutation has occured. A Non-Division road team that was shutout at home the previous week.
The results? The Non-Division road teams have covered 83% of the time 15-3.
Tough for me to back the Lions here but I respect your research.
Good Luck
and of those 18, how many of the non-divisional road teams were the favorite? i bet not many.
Its when a shit team that the public already dislikes gets shutout... they normally catching too many points the next week... this is a reverse situation. the apparent 'better team' was the one shutout, and are still laying points and the public is still backing them heavily.

For those of you that were wondering earlier, this is my documented record on here as far as the NFL goes. And yes, I do bet every single game on the card. There were brief mentions earlier about fading my fades, that's fine, and I wish you the best of luck As I have always said, go with your first instinct and never second guess yourself, and hopefully we are all winners in the end.
I guess we can consider this a preliminary write up for the unhappy camper that's decided to dampen the mood in here.

Totaly disagree with your post. Personally, I had Vikes against the Jets in that game and lost on that pick-6.
That situation was completely different from this one, in the Vikes game the Jets came into that on an "unsustainable roll", in this game it's the Lions who come in on an "unsustainable roll".
All teams, bar none, including the Jets produce "luck based plays" during the season, the question is, which team is on an "unsustainable run of luck based plays".
Looking at "luck based plays" is not enough, you must also look at "repeatable skills", the ratio of "luck based plays" to "repeatable skills", in this regard the Lions are the 2cd most "overvalued team" in the league, in other words their "repeatable skills" are no-where near as good as the Lions appear.
The Jets remain one of the most "undervalued teams" in the league, ranking as the 7th most undervalued team, in other words the Jets out-play their opponents in "repeatable skills" better then they appear.
