Rivers won alot of $$$ for me when he was @ NCST, talk about your road warriors back then, the Pack was it, but I'd go Pennington or maybe even Joey Porter before Rivers. same thing @ Tenn, Collins or Haynesworth, gotta' give these defensive guys their props too. They were outstanding. Remember again, stats alone won't win you an MVP, oh yea, sorry steeler fans, Harrisons been a genuine stud too. Peyton clear a place on your mantel, you've got another trophy coming.

Pennington, Porter or Collins ahead of Rivers? Give me a break. You flop spots with each QB on their teams Rivers is without question producing more than the original starters.
Rivers has 3800 yards 32 td's and 11 picks with a QB rating of 104. He has been the only constant on that team.
Hey, he won't win it, and he shouldn't because they are at best 8-8, but Pennington and Porter? C'mon.

electric, that's about the third time I've read where your talking about hypothetically interchanging players with other teams. That my friend doesn't always work, plenty of good players over the years have gone to other teams and not performed as they previously had as have other players who were perhaps mediocre on one team, ended up somewhere and greatly succeeded. Team chemistry, different philosophy, different styles all contribute to that. Rivers had a good year statiscally, no doubt but remember where MIA was last year and what they have the opportunity to accomplish, NFL history, the greatest turnaround from one year to the next. You can say that shouldn't matter for this years MVP, and you'd probably be right, the fact is EVERYONE knows the turnaround this team has accomplished and try as you may, it won't be ignored. By the way, Pennington is behind only Rivers in QB rating, and bested SD head to head earlier(17-10) as a 7 point underdog, Rivers was 13-28, 159 yds 1 td, Penny was 22-29, 229 yds, 1 td, and 1 very important win.
Yea, absolutely I'd put him ahead of the QB of a major underachieving team vs the QB of a major overachieving team. Truth be told, lets face it, after Peyton it's a crapshoot.

Interchanging players is a huge way to see who would perform vs others, much better way than saying if you remove said player. You discount it because it puts a huge hit in Pennington and Collins MVP votes.
Pennington doesn't even have 20 td passes this year and it's week 17.
Miami has had a HUGE turnaround but Pennington is only 1 part, if they just added him I would agree but they add much more. Porter avrages just over 7 sacks a year now he is at 17.5, get Jake Long, Parcells, new coach, not to mention Ronnie Brown is back for the entire season. To mention they are probably the healthiest team in the NFL. That better give you a huge turnaround.

just a quick baseball analogy for you as far as these writers are concerned, Terry Pluto, writer for the CLEVELAND PLAINS DEALER, voted for Ron Gardnenhire, Minny Twins mgr, for MANAGER OF THE YEAR over Joe Madden of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Twins didn't make the playoffs, the Rayz won the AL East (red sox, Yankees) and went to the World series, and we all know how bad the Rayz have been and were expected to be again this past year. My point being, hard to say what some of these numbskull writers are actually thinking. Sure as hell don't know what Pluto was smoking...

electric, I discount it because it's hypothetical, you don't know for sure in a different situation on a different team how an individual would truly perform. You can only guess, I prefer to deal with with now, the facts. But playing your game, right now there's only 2 QB's I'd interchange with Pennington and feel fairly confident about, Manning and a healthy Tom Brady. That's it. Penny's leadership and the team chemistry with him at the helm, again is very critical to their success and cannot be measured by numbers, only wins.

In all seriousness I wouldn't have a problem with a defensive MVP this season in the NFL...maybe DeMarcus Ware or Ray Lewis or James Harrison or even Ed Reed.
I would go ahead and give the nod to DeMarcus Ware, not just because I'm a Cowboys fan either. Not only does he lead the league in sacks with 20, but, he also has 80 total tackles, 6 forced fumbles, and 7 'stuffs'....

Binka what book did you see that on? Sportsbook.com has had odds up but a friend of mine tried to bet Peyton and they said they were no longer taking action. I am seeing -200 on BetED.

Manning lost ground today to be sure. Williams, Turner, AP, Brees all with better games. Hopefully he had a cushion. I couldn't vote for him at this point and I have considerable $ on him. Don't count your chickens yet. His team won a wc and he doesn't have the best stats either. I'm

Esplande who are you worried about? Williams and Turner had good games and they will get a few votes at best. Brees has ZERO chance on an 8 win team. The closest is Pennington.
