Take for example this Pitt/Packers game, why don't they just set the line at 20 or 23, whatever they think Pitt will win by, and let the players on the field decide the outcome and final score, and let the betting public choose a side?

The line tonight just screamed everyone taking Pitt, then Vegas needs to get there paws involved and fix the game so they don't lose tons of cash.  In my scenario, Vegas can stay the fock out!  Just sayin'!

Vegas less than 10% of football action on any given Sunday.  Offshores and bookies account for waaaaaaaaay more.

According to the know it all's on Covers, Vegas has nothing to do with outcomes of games.  They also never lose a bet and are experts in all aspects of sports betting

Have you ever worked in a sports book in Vegas?
    I have.
That's why I laugh at the tin foil hat club in this forum.
    Completely clueless.

Agreed with this assessment, I'm stunned how many "experts" are naive at this betting stuff...like Vegas just gives money away and has no involvement in the outcome of certain games (such as this completely bogus Sunday Night game).

You're a fraud! LOL So you don't think games are ever fixed in any sport?  Do you realize refs have been busted for fixing games?  Do you think Vegas was innocent in these fixed games?

The books sucked everyone in with -7.5 2H and all the live betting at -3.5 and higher.  My only bet was a tease on Pitt -8 and never felt good enough either way on live bet to cancel my -8 out.  Sucks.

The only thing I know is earlier tonight they spent 5 min talking about 53 yard field goals?

I would love it if it was all a script and they f up every now and then and talk about stuff they shouldn't

You are hilarious.  I worked for Harrahs from 1988 to 1999 in the sports book.  Was a ticket writer for 3 years and then a supervisor for almost 8.  You have NO IDEA what you are talking about.  Vegas makes their money in the casinos.  From a business standpoint sports books make squat to the corp bottom line.  They only have them to get people to the casinos so they can really take their money.

    You are young and naive.

The highest position you got to was supervisor lol.  The only naive one here is the guy pretending managers/supervisors know everything the CEO is doing/planning behind the scene.  You think the guy with the password to the sportsbook bank account is going to tell the guy making sure people do their jobs whether or not he paid off a ref to fix the outcome of a game?  Boy you sure are stupid if you believe it

Come on  on man , the biggest moneymaker for LV CASINOS FROM AUGUST TO FEBUARY IS THE SPORTSBOOK, especially NFL, SECONDLY ncaafb, they make their living off it. this was the last game of the night all the public favs had cashed and there was a world of money tied up in the Steelers with PARLAYS, TEASERS...THIS WAS THE BIG BAILOUT FOR THE SPORTSBOOKS, they had to determine the spread and the field goal was the perfect answer for them.

So basically what you are saying is that Vegas the collective so all books decide like 5 days in advance that they are going to fix a game and then put out a line on it,and all the books have a meeting and just decide this and then all the online books just follow suit and offer pretty much the same line on the games,And then the players who are getting paid multi millions are also in on it just to darn the general public, the books make money by offer 9/10 odds or even 8/10 on both sides so you basically need to win over 60% of bets just to break even and then they offer teasers and accumulators and then you get nights where they clean up and make fortunes because millions of people bet Conor Mcgregor because hes so good at hype and the public take a punt,im pretty sure that Vegas who's books belong to multi billion $ casino empires would not risk fixing a sports game to make whats small change to them in the scheme of things.

bet on both sides, not everyone was on 1 side and you taking a -110 bet so if the books can get even action on both sides they smiling and if they win big one night and lose big the next over the long term they making money by giving offering -110 odds or worse, flip a coin 500 times and get 90c on the dollar ever time you win but lose the full dollar when you lose its the same principle and now make that millions like you say on multiple bets on a weekly basis and suddenly that 10% adds up,and some places its worse like -120,they dont need to cheat its just simple maths really.

So how do you explain a couple years ago, Navy is favored by 5 vs Army, 4th and goal from the 5 yd line up 4 with less than a minute left...a FG puts them up 7, a logical choice.  But no, they go for it, the QB tosses it 10 yds out of the end zone, and Navy doesn't cover!  (That one stands out for some reason)! :)

Or a couple weeks ago, USC favored by 15, winning by 14, 4th down and 6 at the opponents 20yd line, and instead of kicking the FG to go up 17 (who's kicker kicked a 48yd earlier), they go for it and the pass wasn't close.  You can't make this shiat up.

I can go on and on, but dude, you are in denial if you don't think any of this shiat is fixed!  Maybe I'll write a book! :)
