    The write-up with evidence is supposed to help you move away from intuition (your 'feel') and towards solid ground.

    You could go read LC's write-up and choose a side you like. Many lines every week always appear a bit sketchy.

    If Jags has been tackled like a football team, Dallas would have never been up so much points in this game. That's what I wanted to say.

    Dolphins needed two pick-sixes (is that right?), otherwise it would have been a close game in the fourth quarter. Dolphins had problems with the Jaguars' pass rush even though they have a good o-line and Eli will face these problems also. Yes these turnovers are an indicator of how bad the Jaguars are, but interceptions can destroy a game, like we saw with the Giants against SF.

    Have a good weekend

    But Summa, that is why they are a one win team. They can't tackle. Bortles is going through growing pains throwing INT's that result in Pick-6's because he doesn't take his eyes off his targets. That's what rookies do.

    That is why I have to put up with 3 INT's in the first quarter with the Jets.

    We can't dismiss bad tackling. It is part and parcel of who the Jags are and what bad teams are.

    And when you need an outright win (because 3 gets you a push only), you need a lot to go right otherwise.

    I agree the Jags will pressure Eli. But will a pass rush be enough? I say no.

    Scal, I liked the Giants before your writeup, but LC is putting more than 2k on this game. He must be certain or crazy.

    @Action:

    And finally to your Eli is a Russian Roulette QB comment, here is what you have behind center after the 'great' defense (that has given up the most points in the NFL) leaves the field:

    "You shouldn’t jump to conclusions with any rookie QB playing behind such an abysmal offensive line. The bad news: Bortles has tallied 15 picks, five fumbles and just eight passing TDs, along with an impossibly low 21.8 QBR. That’s really, really, really, really dreadful. Since 2006, only six qualifying QBs dipped under 25 QBR.

    2013 Brandon Weeden: 24.7
    2007 Kellen Clemens: 22.3
    2011 Blaine Gabbert: 19.1
    2006 Andrew Walter: 17.4
    2009 JaMarcus Russell: 11.6
    2010 Jimmy Clausen: 11.0"

    @Action:

    And finally to your Eli is a Russian Roulette QB comment, here is what you have behind center after the 'great' defense (that has given up the most points in the NFL) leaves the field:

    I don't know. One of my favorite cappers (a guy who is spot on 80% of the time) gave the Giants out as one of his free picks:

    "Sure it's been a hugely disappointing season for the Giants. But let's not get carried away. The Giants still are at least a level higher than the Jaguars.
    Eli Manning versus Blake Bortles is a mismatch. Bortles has been a turnover machine and is getting worse the more he plays with his confidence shot. The Jaguars did not do him a favor by rushing him into the lineup. Bortles has become Geno Smith South with 15 interceptions while being sacked 27 times in nine games.
    Manning has his best running back, Rashad Jennings, back plus Odell Beckham Jr. is developing into a star with 31 catches for 503 yards during his last four games.
    The Giants' record is so poor because they have played a murderous schedule. This is their first easy opponent in eight weeks. Jacksonville's record is so poor because they are legitimately horrible.
    This likely is Tom Coughlin's final season as Giants head coach. Coughlin still has enough pride to keep his team from suffering an embarrassing loss to this bad of a team."

    sigh, I always get thru your first paragraph and think the same thing: you seem to have or think you have magical powers that can see exactly what people are thinking

    honestly man you write very well and I enjoy your thoroughness but anyone who spends one second on trying to figure out how why and when other people are going to bet and why they make the line 3 is just adding more complication to an already complicated puzzle

    i do agree however that NY teams are always over priced. that's why you never win backing the yanks all season, but I digresss

    how about something useful like: the Jags offense is completely lost right now with a rookie QB with zero help, and they will simply be outscored..

    seriously anything tangible would be nice

    Well BB,

    You tried to warn him last week about the Lions/Pats and Ravens Saints (I believe) and said one of those two games might be a blowout against his pick ( I believe he was on the Lions and the Ravens).

    He shrugged it off and you were right both couldn't hit.

    Then in the NBA last week, I believe he was taking OKC over the Nets (who were on a losing streak) and the other game escapes me (he might have been fading the Cavs) and you said both games had a very low probability of hitting in those situations (I believe both teams were on losing streaks).

    He shrugged it off and you were right both couldn't hit.

    Now I'm here saying there is little justification for the Jags. If his 'black box' trends work out so be it. I'll bet on the team I know vs. one that needs a W 95% of the time at a number like 3 to collect any winnings. That is a damn tough spot for a one-win team.

    I'll tell you this. I would NOT be as confident if the Giants beat the Cowboys. The line would be 4/4.5 and the Giants could come down a notch after a quality win they yearned for. But I love this six game losing streak they have to break.

    Good Luck tomorrow SCAL!!

    What do you think about St. Louis -7??

    This is a tough St. Louis team, that should destroy an awful Raiders squad...Like to know what you think...I know you took a look at this game...

    Yeah, I beat you to the punch with that one. See post #61 (which is before your post #63).

    And by the way, I don't care about the line movement or where the public is on this game. I was addressing a comment that was made and that was more for conversation. You didn't see that in my OP for a reason. I looked at the line and liked it. End of story.

    What's also interesting (and perhaps a tad bit disconcerting) is that most of the money coming in is on the Giants but the line is moving against us.

    Looks like he thinks exactly like me. I said exactly the same thing in the OP (in addition to much of everything else he said):

    Look at the past 6 losses:

    @Philly L

    @Dallas L

    Colts L

    @Seattle L

    Niners L

    Cowboys L

    What a stretch! I'll bet that's the toughest six game stretch of any team in the NFL this season!

    I know they went 0-6. But damn, that's like a firing squad of excellent teams.

    And who did they beat up on before that?

    Atlanta Washington Houston - Bad and below average teams

    this is a weird game scal, the only reason the Giants don't just give up is because they actually love Coughlin and Eli is so good. They have no defensive line, the pass rush is absolutely pathetic, the run game is mediocre, the secondary only has one legitimate NFL starter, there roster is just barren right now

    They really should tank the rest of their games to get better draft position because they need a talent infusion. No they haven't given up yet but they should.

    Don't know why the Gmen aren't favored by more but it might be because this is the game they start playing the back ups to see what they can do

    also one of the hardest things to bet on in any sport is two bad NFL teams with nothing to play for at the end of the season, even in college football  they willl try their damndest to win even if they are 0fer on the season but in the NFL bad teams playing in december is just a crap shoot
