ESPN: EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson did not practice on Thursday because of an injured hamstring.
Coach
Brad Childress calls the injury "a concern" because Peterson was able
to do limited work in practice on Wednesday, but was too sore to go a
day later.
Before practice began, Peterson told reporters that he is hopeful of playing Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. He was injured late in last weekend's loss to Indianapolis, but did not specify which leg was hurt.

to do limited work in practice on Wednesday, but was too sore to go a
day later.
Before practice began, Peterson told reporters that he is hopeful of playing Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. He was injured late in last weekend's loss to Indianapolis, but did not specify which leg was hurt.
Three of the team's top four wide receivers -- Sidney Rice (knee), Bernard Berrian (toe) and Aundrae Allison (foot) -- were listed on the injury report. Rice, who has a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, did not practice. Berrian and Allison had limited participation.
Veteran Robert Ferguson said he was told by the coaching staff that he likely will play more Sunday against Carolina because of Berrian's toe injury, which is clearly bothering him. Berrian played all 16 games with the Chicago Bears last season with the same toe problem.
An eventful Wednesday at Winter Park included running back Adrian Peterson's name being listed on the injury report.
Peterson had limited participation in practice because of a hamstring injury. Peterson carried the ball 29 times for 160 yards against the Colts on Sunday. He also had a team-high four catches for 20 yards.
The team doesn't have to list Peterson's status until Friday. Peterson and backup Chester Taylor worked with new starting quarterback Gus Frerotte on handoff exchanges after practice
Please don't put money on the vikings this weekend!! This team is a mess right now. They are one bad half away from completly imploding. The coaching staff has lost this team and injuries to a suspect wide receiving corp will make them even more one dimensional then they already are. Not to mention injury to All Day and the QB change.

this is a trap game... the vikings are nothing but hype and the public are easily persuaded to believe the same.. UHQB is absolutely right about the power of the hook.

60% of the coin is on CAR and the line is not moving. Even the news of Furotte (sp?) did not move the line. Vegas is banking big on this game. Someone knows something that we don't

Vikings have two pro bowlers in that secondary, I'd hardly call it one of the weakest in the league. They have three pro bowlers on the defensive line and Henderson probably makes it in the next year or two at linebacker. Despite their red zone struggles I like this team this year and think they'll beat Carolina by seven, but that's why they play the games.

its observations like this that wins $$$. will hope the line goes down to 3 or lower (if it ever does), then maybe, just maybe, put a small wager on minny. better games out there imo.

Carolina gets receiver Steve Smith back to boost its offense, Smith will eat up Minnesota's secondary..."I eat em up like pac-man". says smith. This line is a joke, T. Jackson has looked horrid and i dont see him playing any better in just a week. He doesnt have it in him, Carolina stacks 8-10 in the box to stop AP leaving 1 on 1 coverage and he still won be able to get the ball to his receivers.....but
Why is a 0-2 team against a good 2-0 team the Fav? Min-3.5 is a JOKE. Line should be Car-2.5 to -3 or if im giving Min any credit at all would be at PK, just cause their at home.
First of all Jeff Sagarin ranks this matchup with Carolina as a 1 point favorite over Minnesota taking into account Home field for the Vikings.
A couple of stats on the 2-0 vs 0-2 teams since 1992 :
2-0 Road teams vs 0-2 Home teams when the Road teams are Underdogs are 4-3 SU & 5-2 ATS
2-0 Road teams after allowing more than 15 ppg in weeks 1 & 2 are 14-7 ATS in week 3
However , 2-0 Home teams are 16-8 ATS in week 3 when the line moves in their favor during the week ...If the line opened @ 3 and moved to 3.5 in favor of the Vikings this stat would apply ...

this is a tough game b/c i don't know what to expect from the Vikings. They could be 2-0 if they had a QB who could move the chains on 3rd and long (or even 3rd and short).
Panthers got great linebackers that should be able to limit Peterson ( i say that holding my breath ). Panthers won't be able to run, so it will be up to Delhomme and company to keep the Minny defense on the field and loosen up the running lanes.
Panthers are a playoff team with a QB that is coming off a bad year and surgery, and I think he looks better than ever. Add Steve Smith to the mix (you know he's gonna have 6 rec. 100 yds 1 Td at the very least), and u got a good team again. Not to mention the linebackers. Peppers needs to get to old form still.
Vikings are a team that is NOT playing up to their potential and has controversy at the most important position in football. Childress is playing for his job, and trying to make sure he is at least a .500 team so he has a chance to get a new QB.
Panthers have the momentum here and your getting 3.5 points. Not to mention a +170 ML.
The big question mark is at QB for Minny. What kind of game can you expect from Gus Ferotte? Once you make up your mind on that, then you can bet. Personally, I don't know what to expect from that dinosaur. I (almost) never bet on a team when they are coming off a QB switch. Whether is a bench guy starting, or a starting QB coming back from injury.
Strongly considering Panthers ML though. Think about it guys, Minny aint doing shit this year. GB's gonna win the division, and Bears are their only serious competition. Panthers will win their division too. Who's gonna win it? New Orleans? lmaoff !!!
Visualize the game guys.....predict the future by using the past......I can hear Chris Collinsworth's voice.....he's saying pound the Panthers +170 for $250
Panthers 3-0 ?
or Minny 1-2 ?
Which will Bob Costas & Co. be talking about during the highlights/pre-game on SNF ?

Let's all take the pacifiers out of our mouths. This game screams sucker bet for Joe Public. Like has been mentioned majority of pub money is on Carolina and the line hasnt moved. Carolina is not as good as their 2-0 record and Minny is not as bad as their 0-2 record.
Minny will pound the ball to control the clock and keep the Carolina offense off the field. Pretty easy pick here with Minny. I will watch the lines at my 2 books for added value but Minny will be on my card this weekend. BOL everyone

definitely a good point drk... if it is this obvious and everyone thinks its gonna be easy as pie (i mean everyone)... then its obviously not that obvious...
very simple rule to avoiding bad bets... if it is so easy a kid can pick it... its probably wrong...

this will be a good matchup.....but i'll gladly take the 4 pts for the panthers against the vikings.....traditionally the panthers have always been a better road team than home team. If the panthers end up losing, i imagine it will most likely b on a fg at the end of the game....honestly though i see the cats taking this one by around 7-10 pts......i like the balanced attack, and although the running game isn't gonna go nuts for the panthers, i see delhomme to smith happening time after time now that they have muhammed and hackett to take off a lil attention off of smith. The oline is much improved and should give delhomme enough time to get smith some nice numbers. On the other side i see the vikings having some success running the ball, but it will be nothing like last week against the colts. The panthers will stack the line and force frerotte to beat them. I'll gladly take the panthers corners going one-on-one w/the vikings receivers, especially w/berrian not being compltely healthy. GL all but i don't see how u don't grab the points in this one
