These nba players are only human too. its pretty deflating knowing you that are losing by 30 in a basketball game. As well, the coaches has to bench the star players for pre cautionary reasons since its mathematically impossible for a team to come back from such a huge deficit.

whoops read your post incorrectly. bench players are mainly role players and i believe the lakers bench were playing pretty hard. the wizards have no bench, thats why it seemed effortless on there part.

my point was you see it all the nba games, when the bench players get in the game, they have no hustle in them where as you would think they would be putting in more effort then the first string. I know if i was an nba player and sat the bench and didnt really get in alot of games, i would put in my best effort every chance i got.

but you must factor in the risk of playing hard. it can cause injury.
No i realize that. But also realize not putting in some good effort, wont improve your game either. Look at the game the other night where phoenix got pounded by boston. Phoenixs bench players were throwing up airballs left and right. These guys make alot of money and should have to earn that money.
Lastly people in the stands pay big bucks to see players play, going thru the motions of just wanting to get the blowout game over, even if it means a risk of injury isnt fair to the fan.

Just wanted to make the point that I thought they would not play hard as well, but if you watched the game, the Wizards bench was playing plenty hard, Crittenton kept taking it to the rack, thats what got the over, not to mention Vladimir hitting some 3's from downtown. They didn't just go through the motions tonight like you see most the time in the NBA, this time they did play hard to the final whistle.

i just think bench warmers dont get enough playing time to warrant any type of playing calling from them. most of the time when they come in the game there out of sync. most bench players are used to defend, take fouls, or get in the game to give the starters a breather. but i can see what you re saying. i can make an observation of you and that is you being a hard worker. you seemed pretty passionate and determined to get your point across.

I didnt say ever bench player that gets in the game goes thru the motions. There are some players who do give it their all when they get the chance to play. The other night in the phoenix game, the guy who had the pony tail for the suns was playing his heart out, while the rest of the bums were walking the ball up the court.
I just feel if you are good enough to be on an nba roster, then you should pay to the max when its your turn on the court.
Let me clarify one other thing. When i say bench players, am not talking about the guys that usually get some action every game. Am talking about the guys who get no action and then get into the game and they stink.
Mihm, powell and yue for the lakers scored a whopping 4 points while playing a combined 22 minutes. Thats what i call a poor effort.

I agree with you 100 percent. In fact i think alot of it is the coaches fault. When a coach is able to get his guys that dont play many minutes into a game, you would think he would want to give those guys good plays to run, to help improve their game, so they arent just in games to take fouls or defend. At least thats my thinking if i was a coach. I would want to improve all my players play for real games.

they are scubs in the first place. its ridiculous how these players y they even have a roster spot on the team. i know hood basketball players who will get it their all for a chance in the nba. i mean they would jump for loose balls or take a charge from shaq.

If they were always shooting wide open shots, yeah there would score all the time. But when bench players who have practically no game experience are put into the game, the speed of the opposing defense, the various plays called, rotating and moving toward the ball, etc, is much faster than in practice. If you watch, they're missing because they always take difficult shots near the end of the shot clock because they don't know how to get open and create shots for themselves. Because pratcice speed that they are used to is nowhere near game speed. That's why washington's bench was scoring because they were in transition and shooting open shots, where the lakers bench didn't know how to execute in the half court.
