Saying an NBA game is "fixed" or "rigged"

I posted a link to the Wikipedia page for Tim Donaghy, but I this forum won't let me post links. He was an NBA official who pled guilty to wire fraud. Not only was he officiating games on which he had bets, but he was making money passing on inside information about players.

HOWEVER, I agree that calling all the games are fixed is really dumb. There's just too much chance, and whether a shot rims out or drops is sometimes as random as roulette.

You obviously don't know what goes on in "the ghetto" and you sound like an idiot. You think some gang banger is waltzing into a booking house, legit or illegal and just dropping some large bet without raising a flag? Do you think anyone, regardless of race or background, are waltzing in and placing large bets without raising flags? Do you thing scumbag players who know they aren't going to make the cut get many opportunities to influence the outcome of games? Not to mention that sports betting, in general, isn't as prevalent in the black community. Why do you think there's only like a handful of black regulars on this site? Plus, more and more players, even black, are coming from middle class backgrounds. It's like it was before. It takes money and an involved family to make it in hoop. Paying for AAU leagues. Traveling for tournaments, often in other states. It's not just a ball and a rim with a chain net anymore.

This is how shit really happens in the "hood". Guy makes it to the league. Maybe he's a d league player, barely on the outer rim of getting paid. Those same "low-lifes" don't hatch some elaborate plot to fix games. They say, "We should go rob that muthaf*cka!"

And if he's got enough respect in the streets to avoid this, chances are he never makes it to the league in the first place. There's only been a handful of players really about that life that make it to the league.

It is better just to come here pregame. Go to pages 1/4. When 80%or more is on one side and the word lock, unloading, no chance words are used take the other side and most of the time you have a winner. The site will then be filled with fixes, bad refs, etc. Sixers led the entire 48 minutes. The Rockets covered who cares about the final score. The Spurs not fouling didn't change the fact the Spurs covered. It was cool to talk about how dumb they were for not fouling but it wasn't a fix. Congrats. I thought the Sixers may blow the ML and I would not have wanted +7.5 with overtime. Jimmy Buckets was the best player on the floor and the Sixers had way more energy tonight. They played like crap in game one against the Nets then battered them on the boards the rest of the series.

You said, and I quote, "...a very large proportion of NBA players..." A very large proportion of NBA players. There ain't that many non-blacks in the whole damn league. We all know exactly what you were talking about. The fact you tried to switch it up and use Birdman as an example is freakin' hilarious. Let's leave race out of it though and go back to your point. A bookie is a bookie, legal or illegal. Do you think bookies just let dudes they don't know come in and out of the blue lay large wagers down? And if said large wager laid by out-of-blue stranger they don't know hits under questionable circumstances, don't you think they look into it?

sports are on TV. what else is on TV. Production, PAID actors, and oh lets see, PEOPLE PAID TO ENTERTAIN YOU AND CONTAIN YOUR THOUGHTS OR SWAY YOU certains ways. 

Its why advertisers pay billions to be on TV, its why athletes to people who host HGTV are all paid 6 figures. They have to keep them happy and in the "know". Everyone on that side of the spectrum lives a completely different and shaded life that you'll never know, and yes, for the most part it is all FIXED. But not just sports, everything you SEE on a TV SCREEN. Is there, to sway you, and steal your money. Sooner all of you realize youre living a completly differnet life than them the better

I wish sword fights would have gone 7 rounds every tournament! Too bad the best man killed his opponents and moved on! Today, the best teams are forced to follow a script before beheading their opponents, because at the end of the day, you make 6 x more money doing its 7 times as opposed to just once.
