Note: We'll be the first to admit the Panthers have been practically clawless this season. However, after opening the season 2-9 ATS in their first eleven lined games, Milwaukee has rallied to cash six of its last ten contests.
They have also been ultra reliable at home when playing off a previous home
loss, going 19-3 SU and 16-3 ATS in this role when playing on three or more days
of rest, including 11-1 ATS in conference clashes. With the Panthers returning
home off an embarrassing 31-point loss, and the visiting Detroit Titans having cashed in
only five of 14 tries as favorites this season, the points become the play here
today.
Washington is in California Thursday night, taking on a struggling
UCLA team that has lost three of four. The Bruins lost at home to USC in
overtime in their last game, getting out-rebounded 44-36, and hitting just
2-of-19 from beyond the arc. Shabazz Muhammad had 22 points in a losing effort,
despite suffering from flu like symptoms, and receiving two liters of IV fluid
before the game.
The Bruins have failed to cover the points in each of
their last three home games, and in five of their last seven overall. UCLA split
their two games with the Huskies in 2012, winning at home by a score of 75-69,
the six point margin of victory would not be enough to cover the spread in this
game. Prior to that victory, the Huskies had won four straight meetings with
UCLA dating back to 2010.
Washington has been a good bet versus Pac-12
opponents, with a record of 7-2 ATS in their last nine games within the
conference.
It is my opinion that the Bruins are one of the more
overrated teams in college basketball, and their poor performance against the
spread this season seems to support that opinion. They are giving up quite a few
points against a very good Huskies team, and I think Washington will keep it
close, covering the number easily.
Utah State Aggies -7
Friday they will be facing an opponent that is coming off a pair of losses to
both Seattle and Idaho. In fact, the San Jose State Spartans have lost seven
straight, beginning with a loss against the Aggies on January 11.
The Aggies have won each of their last 10 meetings with San Jose
State, and that includes back to back road wins, both by double digits in their
last two visits to San Jose.
Neither of these two teams have been a good
bet recently, with Utah State covering the spread only three times in their last
10 games. The Spartans though are even worse, covering the points only twice in
their last 10 overall.
The Aggies appear to have turned things around
after losing four straight, they have not only won their last two, but covered
the points in each of those victories.
The Spartans are winless since
they suspended their leading scorer James Kinney for violating teams rules.
Kinney was averaging over 20 points per game, but is listed as suspended
indefinitely, and hasn't played in any of the Spartans last seven games (all
losses).
Utah State is only giving up a handful of points on the road
tonight, and given the current form, as well as past history with these two
teams, it would be no surprise to see the Aggies win in a blowout.
