Rays have solid pitching and bullpen relief I'll give you that, but as the season moves on there are other "factors" that will drive this team into 2nd or 3rd place overall in their division. But BOL. ![]()
What are those other "factors" ?

Yeah, Mariano is terrible. Who would ever want that guy as their closer. The man is 38 and is in better shape then some 25 year olds. He's a freak of nature and could probably pitch into his mid 40's.

Toronto's TEAM is garbage... they'll be battling for 4th place..
although as a team they sure, individually they have the best starting pitching in baseball.. so to compare it to the Yankees & say they're all better isn't such a big deal... when you can compared them to any other team in baseball & get the same outcome

Yeah Sparkey Bronx Bombers are not that great and won't make the playoffs, you and I don't believe that for a second, hey now we've got all the intangibles and tradition to get us where we going to be in the end of this one, you watch, Rodriguez finally gets his World Series win, the momentum will build and we will get stronger as the season moves on.
Tradition in the House that Ruth built, need I say more...![]()

Sparky I know your a passionate fan but comon man. I am a lifetime Yankee fan myself...I go back to Mantle. This is not their year...an aging outfield that has to be one of worst fielding outfields in baseball, a terrible starting rotation and first base is a horrible joke! These young pitchers have a long way to go and guys like Mussina and Pettitte are not going to carry this club through the summer. My bet is they are just above 500 when the season ends. 85 games seems right. This is Dave Windfield Era II with no chemsitry and a lot of fading players moving past their prime. Yanks need to shed all this dead weight now and move on.

Had to comment on this. First off...Halladay may be considered a better pitcher then Wang, but Wang has the most wins of any pitcher over the last 2 seasons, and that is what matters overall. His 4 complete games this season means really nothing seeing that he lost 3 of them. Next, I don't belive that Marcum is better then Pettitte. Maybe Pettitte hasn't started off strong this season, but if it went down to a 1 game playoff to decide the final spot of the playoffs, are you teling me that you would take Marcum on the mound to outpitch Pettitte? I know I wouldn't. Burnett is better then Mussina, but Mussina is tied for 3rd in wins with 7. I have no idea why you mentioned McGowan over Hughes when Rasner is obviously going to get the job over Hughes the way he is pitching, and I believe that although Rasner may not be a better overall pitcher then McGowan, he sure is this season in the games he has pitched. Litsch is better then Kennedy, but Kennedy did have a great start his last outing and looks to be coming out of his slump. The Jays bullpen probably is better then the Yanks pen, but there really is no telling what is going to happen with bullpens until after the all-star break because once Joba moves to the rotation, they are going to bring up another pitcher who is supposed to be this season's Joba Chamberlain such as Alan Horne or Scott Patterson. And as of now, I believe that the Yanks jumped over a few teams since your post on the offensive side. It's the A-Rod affect. Since A-Rod has come back, Lefties are hitting .439, with Cano and Giambi busting out of their slumps. And maybe right now the Jays have better pitching, but Burnett hasn't shown much potential this season, and if Joba's move to the rotation works the way they hope it does, they have an awsome top 3 starters. The season is young, and the Yanks can easily come back and take the lead of the division. Hell...they already took 2 games from the Sox in 2 days. ![]()

This has got to be the stupidest comment I have seen in a while. They did no such thing last season and came back, what makes you think that they will do it this season. If they would refuse to give up young talent for Johan Santana of all people, they won't go after anybody else. And besides, relievers are way to expensive now-a-days. No way will they go after anybody else. The only reason they got Hawkins was because he didn't demand a multi-year contract.
Also...just for the record, the Yanks have only played 8 games this season where Jeter, A-Rod, and Posada have played in the same game.
