After updating myself on the recent posts, I see there is no need for the winter meetings. The owners and gm's can just read this thread and see what they are doing right/wrong or whatever. As I predicted, Judge got his enormous contract and some questionable players are laughing all the way to the bank to make their big deposits. 

Two future predictions. 1. The Royals will get their completely unnecessary downtown stadium, and

2. The A's will very shortly be in Las Vegas, downtown doubtful in their case. LV is a suburban town now and infrastructure required for roads and accessibility (downtown) would be a total nightmare.

We seem to have this trend now, where all these big FA signings these get lengthy contracts, right around 40, because teams probably want to keep the AAV down, so in order to do that they offer more years, but this basically means the last 2-3 years of that contract will be useless, performance wise...

Other than that there is no way I see a downtown park for the A's. The penny slots and $1 blackjack tells you all you need to know about downtown and the creatures it draws. All the money is suburban. Creating freeway accommodations would be near impossible downtown.

 Think you have to have  seen downtown Oakland to understand how difficult a freeway entrance would be and the cost, plus it would have to go on the water which would put you in the middle of 2 ghettos. East 14th St. goes from downtown Oakland to the City of Fremont, I know they changed the name but I have been told it is the same. Then the other side is not safe to walk thru and if you find your self there by mistake it would be a problem.

Telegraph Ave. which starts in Berkeley from 60s fame ends at end of downtown Oakland, no freeway exit when I lived there in late 70s, closest one would be East 14 but it is many miles from downtown, other exits are in better areas of city.

Oakland is dead on the issue. They can't afford a new stadium by today's standards and the A's are as good as gone right now. The last famous thing to come out of Oakland will be Eminem and I am not so sure that is a source of pride either. Big city, no future.

If you want to talk about a major MLB problem is cohen paying so much lux tax that the league is basically forced to let the mets in the playoffs.  Not saying they wont win their way in but in 85 days or so do a little research on who paid what to mlb lux and come find me in September.

Future is all laid out this season for Ohtani.  Come play for the Yanks with Aj or go to the mets.  Its NY or nothing at this point. Why would Ohtani go anywhere else, maybe LAD or maybe the padre can happen. Its down to 4 choices and its a year away. Hes not going to braves or phillies.

What concerns your followers and friends (both of them) is probably the sheer volume of whiskey and the ratio of whiskey to tea and honey. Have you sobered up yet? Make it back to work by the third? 

Not claiming to an expert on hip-hop or rap, but isn't Eminem a rapper? Oh well, if Oakland doesn't want to claim him I guess Detroit is the next best place. They haven't had anything to shout about since the "Motown Sound" died and Verlander headed south. Jackson Five and Denny McLain are their legacy.
