Couple Thoughts

Just talking this one out, but the deeper I get into Tampa Bay, the one thing that has caught my attention is that the starting pitching gap may not be quite as big as it first looked. Mize has been bad since coming to San Diego, but his full season numbers are still serviceable, and the Padres loaded their lineup with right handed bats against McClanahan, which is exactly what you would expect them to do….anyway blah blah 

being in tampa i watch the rays alot, they make scoring runs look so fuggin hard. They are gold for unders but besides yandi and caminero, those bats scare nobody. Good luck truck, great job.

The more I look at the Fish, the more I like it. Washington’s lineup does not scare me at all with Eury Perez on the mound, and on the other side Miami gets Jackson Kent, who has been giving up traffic and has not shown he can consistently get through five clean innings 

No James Wood has been super detrimental to their offense

Miami has a nice streak going against wash. They have won 8 in a row.  am a big cat guy also Wife goes everyday to feed some feral cats.  They wait for her and know her car.

All right boys, that was a motherfucking grind. First off, I like the Fish tonight, and if I was a different kind of bettor they would absolutely be involved, but that just is not how I operate. Milwaukee in the first five checks a lot of boxes too, so this was a tough decision.

At the end of the day, I kept coming back to Tampa Bay. McClanahan gives us the pitching edge at home, Tampa has the lineup I wanted to see, and while Casey Mize has put together serviceable numbers over the full season, he has not pitched well since getting to San Diego. That recent form matters to me in this matchup.

I like Tampa to control the early part of the game, which is why I like them in the first five. And over the full nine, I still trust Tampa more at home with the better overall setup and the more reliable path to finishing the job.

Over the last 30 days against right handed pitching, they’ve been around a .267 average, .329 OBP and .749 OPS, while scoring a little over 4 runs per game overall in that stretch. So yeah, I know the last week has been a little dicey, but that is a small downtick, not some collapse.

They’re back at home, where they’ve been excellent all year, and I think they can get to Mize
