And their AA roster isn't worth a shit either.... The Orioles were banking on Jones, Weiters, Matusz, etc... Accompanied by Ty Wiggington, Tejada bla bla... Crap surrounded by more crap
Honestly the Pirates have MCCutchen and Garett Jones and Neil Walker SOLID young players
The Nationals... I don't even need to name their young talent

So once again, since Sparky still doesnt believe me and niether do you, Markakis is your prototypical #2 hitter. He doenst like batting 3rd and has said this in the past. He has said when he bats 3rd he tries to hit ofr more power and feels he is in a need to change his approach and he puts more pressure on himself. He has said he prefers batting 2nd and is most comfortable there.
Oh yea this year he is on pace for 56 doubles. He is not hitting homeruns but he is hitting hte ball well. Only you woudlnt be able to see that or acknowledge that the Runs and RBIS have absolutely nothing to do with his play and has everythig to do with the players batting before him and behind him.

Have you even looked at their AAA roster, there is NOTHING to look forward to for the Orioles...
You know nothign about prospects an evaluating players.
The Orioles are very slim on positional prospects and have no real superstars in the making. However they are one of hte deepest and most talented farm systems in pitching.
Im not going to even waste my time naming the pitchers who are highly spoken of by publications and outside organizations.

How about we take a break and come back at the All-Star Break NEXT Season and see where ther Orioles are as that will be Year #3 and the final season in which jpero said the O's will start to be competitors.

The bottom line is there is the Yankees and then there is everyone else... as far as competitiveness goes in the AL East... there is the Yankees the Red Sox and everyone else...
The Rays are good and young... but when it is all said and done this year... they are not going to the playoffs

Not even close to a professional scout but I am constant contact with scouts on a weekly basis as this is what I am trying to do.
I go to about 2-3 minor league games a week, depending on if one of the scouts I know is going, so that I can get a better understanding of what to look for and what professional scouts look for in grading players.
So for all intensive purposes I have a better understanding of scouting and evaluating young players, especially ones i have seen personally while with scouts.

Exactly.
Its the Yankees and everyone else because no one can operate the same way. The Red Sox can operate close to the Yankees but the Yankees are still superior.
Dont count out the Rays. They have a great pitching rotation and it will get better when Hellickson comes up. Their offense also holds it own.
Its gonna be a close, 3 way, race all the way to the end.

Anyway, those 4 all came up around the same time when the Yankees built through the farm system and they had a great run. However, they are also all going to be HOFers and for you to expect the Yankees to produce 4 HOFers out of Cano, Hughes, Joba, Cervelli, Gardner or get the same produciton out of those players as the other 4 is ludicrous.
The Yankees got extremely lucky. Add Bernie to the mix as well. They had a great core come pu together who produced 4 HOFers. That is not going to happen again or anytime soon.
Also why does Hughes get a pass from you after sucking for his first 3 years. I always had his back and said he would better than overhyped Joba because I knew he had great stuff and just needed to work on a few things.
Gardner will be lucky to have a Johnny Damon career or even half that. Probably more like Pierre if he is lucky.

Dude if you only knew.... I played against and or with Evan Longoria, Troy Tulowitzky, John Lannan, Matt Laporta, Ryan Zimmerman, BJ Upton, David Wright, DArren O'Day, just to name a few I can go on and on... the point is I'm not impressed that you hang out with scouts on a 2 to 3 day basis, I know more about the game than you can learn from you scouts at minor league games... if I wanted to be a scout all i would have to do is make a phone call

I didn't read the pages and pages of banter here but if the argument is about the Yankees can't buy success... That is the funniest thing ever. Wins to team salary has an extremely strong correlation in baseball... The Yankees have produced some decent farm players... So have the Red Sox... but the bottom line is those that can spend the most... have the most success bottom line. There is always a down year or a year with injuries... but it balances

Well you might have played the game but you are a terrible evaluator.
Playing the game and being able to evaluate are not hand and hand. One skills does not mean you have hte skill for the other.
Also if youa re as good as you say you would have been drafted at one point in time. And based on the names you named you had to have played in the Virginia area as I know people who are friends wiht Zimmerman, Wright, and the Uptons.

Oh man...you missed it. The last 4 pages have been about Markakis. And this is an Adam Jones thread.
