Well, right off the bat how about a designated hitter in Coors Field ? W/winds blowing out ? Season beginning in July when heat and winds will matter to begin with . I may be wrong, but against all practical thinking, I believe the hitters will be ready from the get go . Conditions will force early bullpens w/all the heat . I think a big dog a day will cash daily . I'm starting to feel a little fire. It's hard to even get Spring Training info down here on the bayou . Still living it large after LSU's season . Please post news , or just a thread or web page on the stovepipe league if there is any such animal this year.. Thanks ,![]()

on their shoes and dog shit on fire stinks, not that I ever did it but my friends that thought it was funny to do told me,I thought it was wrong to do that kind of stuff.

Naw. If one of the pitchers is scratched then the bet cancels.
There's a lot of questions about a whole bunch of aspects of the game right now. I'm not sweating it.

Unfortunately the only 2 games I can bet now are NYY/Wash and SF/LAD . I was going to blindly bet O's just for the action , but not up yet . I'm in the process of buying a motorhome , and have spent endless hours looking at them , and just no time for sports. My yard is immaculate , honey do's finished , & once the M/H deal is done will have lots more time to dedicate for sports. I think I'll poas my picks just for grins this year. ![]()

Michael Kopech of the White Sox has decided to sit out the 2020 season. It's unknown if the Tommy John surgery is requiring longer rehab or not. As of now the decision is being reported as "personal reasons"
Word around town is that Kopech has anxiety and depression issues. On top of the covid19 pandemic it has him scared of participating in baseball. Sheesh, did the White Sox pick a bad apple? First he blows out his arm, now the mental stuff. And the mental stuff could be worse than the Tommy John in the long run...hopefully he overcomes his issues alla Zack Greinke.

Well, if that is true sac, it's not his fault, mental health is not a choice, in the sense that we don't pick our brains architecture, unfortunately. Luckily for the guy, he is young and I'm sure the team will provide him the help he needs, be it therapy or even something pharmaceutical, but it's gona be mostly on him to workout his own issues.
As for the season, I don't see how they will see it through.Looking from the outside, and from afar, the display of willful ignorance in the usa is just mind-boggling, to see such a large swath of the population act in such down right stupid way is scarry, to refuse to use a mask as a political statement is pure idiocy, so many needless lives have been lost, are lost and will be lost, because people wont obey some simple rules...

No doubt yaongingy.
How are the guidelines in Romania? My mom has been dealing with strict quarantine stuff just to try and get back there to bury my dad. She finally got on a flight on Sunday and is there, with no quarantine, mainly because she has dual citizenship. But from what I'm hearing, Poland(and Europe for that matter) is not f*cking around with the pandemic.
They want their people safe, they want to get through this with the least deaths possible. And they enforce their guidelines hard. Unfortunately here in the USA, a ton of people see the guidelines(like wearing a mask) an attack on their personal rights. And the more extreme kind of people see the whole covid situation as a ploy to get Trump out of office. That is incredibly selfish, this pandemic is GLOBAL.
Hope you are safe out there![]()

We, as Poland, are also a member of the EU, so all the states tried to coordinate their response, which means we all have the same restrictions, more or less. When we were in the emergency state, when everything was shut down, people who came from the EU would go in an automatic 14 days isolation, at their own home and sign a decleration they would not leave their home, for those 14 days, but some of them didn't care and when the police went to check on them and didn't find them home, they would get a fine. This was the procedure for the people coming from areas in the EU, where the virus wasn't so spread out, for the people that came from red zones another protocol was in place, they would be placed in a 14 day quarantine in a hotel or public institution, while being monitored 24/7, by the authorities. After we left the emergency state, the restrictions got a little loose, now we are in an alert state, everything is open, except cinemas, night clubs, theaters, restaurants. In the emergency state we had 200 cases a day, tops, at a population of 18 mil, now since 10 days we have an average of 500 cases a day, because it's summer and people want to enjoy their vacations, so they travel to the seaside and in the mountains, with no regard for social distancing. Now if we want to travel in the EU, most of the countries will require a 14 days quarantine, we are considered and orange zone, because of our spike in cases. Even if we have universal healthcare here, our hospitals are not great, we have 3000 ICU bedsin the whole country and not all of them have ventilators.
Stupidity is universal, besides the actual pandemic, the whole world is fighting another one, the stupidity pandemic. The same happens here, as in the usa, some people think it's a hoax, just the "flu", the goverment wants to control them etc. The worse thing is that many of our outbreaks are in hospitals, old peoples homes, public institutions mainly, because their staffs are careless in their free time and in the outside world, so they bring the virus in the institutiom they work and kill their already vulnerable pacients. And of course we also have our stupid politicians who make things worse, with their rhetoric, saying the goverment can't keep pacients in hospitals, even if their asymptomathic, so now they let people go, in the outside world if they demand it, with no assurance they will go home and avoid other people.
It's sickening to see this rights debate everywhere, everybody talking about their rights, but what about responsability, why do they never talk about that?! There are no rights without responsabilities, that is the social contract. The selfishness of some people, the lack of empathy for others, these things are enraging, and ultimately depressing. And all these problems stem from the same place, everywhere around the world: lack of education. The less educated an individual, the more ignorant he is, the easier he is exploited by scumbag politicians. As for the orange moron, it is beyond me how people can still support him, he is one of the worse pieces of $hit ever, his incompetence has gotten so many people killed in this pandemic...
Anyways, sorry for the long rant, I'm fine where I am, no outbreaks in my town, but a nurse managed to infect over 70 people in an old peoples home, in my county. Otherwise, things will get a lot worse in the future, for sure, people are just that ignorant, selfish and ultimately stupid.
If anything, you take care sac, considering the place where you live and this pandemic... also, glad Key is alright, Arizona is an absolute mess... ![]()

In Arizona some of us remember Trump's promise that the heat of summer will kill the Covid, just like the flu. Yeah, right, Donnie boy; we are setting records for heat and Covid both. Is there a Plan B?

On the topic that this thread was originally intended for: How embarrassing is it for MLB to have to implement putting a runner on 2nd to start extra innings because these Pony Leaguers are incapable of moving runners around to score? This sport deserves the fate that is inevitable from declining attendance and TV ratings....

Dallas Keuchel looked sharp in the White Sox intra squad game. His change up was great. Grounded out most of the batters.
After watching a few of these "pre season" warm up games, I'm not buying the narrative that hitters will be ready to go right out of the gate. As usual, good pitching always beats good hitting.
As Cheeser pointed out about Coors field, yea that's a whole other beast.
People will be hammering overs, I'm not so sure. I mean you can buy Scherzer/Cole for U7(+111) right now...

We must not forget about the 3 batter rule for relievers. If anything is going create more runs this year, this is it. The MLB says that they did it to speed up the game, but I call BS.
Think about how unfair this is from a strategic aspect. The manager can get strapped pretty bad on the defending side.
Let's say he makes a call to the pen for his lefty to face a lefty batter(or a guy who sucks vs lefties). At that point, the opposing manager can call for a pinch hitter. That southpaw now has to face a new batter(most likely a righty), and the 2 guys behind him.
If there is any silver lining to the rule, once the inning is over, the pitching team can go to another reliever the following inning. So they aren't completely adherent to the "3 batter minimum" rule at all times.
The closer, for instance, usually comes in for a clean inning which is the start of the 9th. They should be in the same routine. Unless if a manager like Joe Maddon thinks that Chapman can pitch the 8th and 9th for 3 days in a row...

I dislike the runner on second rule, and the 3 batter minimum for a reliever. My opinion is, as I have stated before; at the end of 9 innings the game becomes sudden death. If the home ream, with home field advantage, has not accumulated a 1 run lead in 9 innings that is their fault.
I could even live with; a runner on first and sudden death. The home team has blown home field advantage, live with it. Tough crap, be more aggressive earlier instead of relying on last bat.
