Over the weekend in Chicago, there were 16 people murdered. Not by cops, and not protest or looting related.

Now, when is the protest for "THAT" starting?

I'm truly sickened by people at the moment. Destroying their own neighborhoods. No deliveries of any kind are happening. This includes water, produce, milk, gas, medicine...

Let's see what happens when they get hungry.

I don’t understand the BLM message. It’s only an issue if the life is taken by a white person, which is a very small percentage compared to the black lives that get taken every night in every city by other blacks. Where ‘s the outrage and protest about that?Every life equally matters, regardless of religion or race... This is why this message falls on deaf ears. You have to clean up your backyard before you complain about your neighbor’s backyard.....

Boy, I am glad I caught on. Living in Nevada and then Arizona I am used to BLM standing for Bureau of Land Management, a federal bureaucracy. If I had not caught on I might have been wondering all day, what does the BLM have to do with this rant? Good thing I had a couple cups of coffee before I checked in.

I'm on vacation. But my friends from work said no beer trucks went to the city Monday or today. We have 6 city routes. The company is still assessing if we work tomorrow or the rest of the week for that matter.

I've seen dozens of pictures of stores boarded up. Owners are parking cars in front of the doors and sleeping inside their stores, fully loaded.

My buddy who's a cop on the south side says that gang shootings are through the roof. At one scene, 6 dead bodies laid in the street for 5 hours because it took so long to assess the scene. 73 gun shells were recovered, 73! Talk about bad aim.

It's mayhem on the streets of Chicago. I don't think everything is being reported. News crews will not set foot on the west or south sides, as cops are not present. The only footage seen is from helicopters.

Many of the older citizens of these neighborhoods are furious at the behavior of their own people. Can't shop anywhere...walgreens, walmart, food4less, cvs, family foods, and fast food joints are boarded up. The news isn't showing that side of the story. 

People will be hungry soon.

Some of these "community" leaders need to step up and say, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Sac, i was meaning to ask you how was Chicago, because i know it's one of the cities with the highest criminal rates in the states.

Given the circumstances, there is no wonder the violence escalated in your neck of the woods, it's a pity this situation is being exploited by pieces of $hits who just wreak havoc and make everything needlessly so much worse...

Ok, so some baseball news. I heard on the radio that the MLB is looking into a shortened season of 50 to 60 games.

So is that counting playoff games?Were 2 months into season so 50 total could be the owner's trying to pay 25% salary which the players could live on,

Guys from other Countries,in America when we have Riots part of that is burning down the stores you shop at.

That's all I heard Jeg. I assumed without playoffs

In another month the argument may become irrelevant. College and pro football have been able to sit out the pandemic and make plans for the fall based on what develops in the next two months. If they come out with a strong, nearly complete, plan for the fall season the interest in baseball will wane and many fans won't care about an abbreviated season or playoffs. Some people don't know when they are slicing their own throats. 

Please, don't give me any "the players this, the owners that". When people do not reach agreement in times of danger for both there is always plenty of blame to go around. This is like fighting over who gets the last bottle of champagne while the Titanic sinks. 

I will pay attention again when they have a firm agreement on what to do and how to proceed. In the meantime, all the fantasy BS and review of 150 seasons has gotten boring. I used to get stats and news first thing in the morning from MLB DOT COM, now I don't even check to see what hey are posting. Bye bye Miss American Pie.

Radically different societies JEG. Not as much money, ego or stand your ground in those countries. Negotiation and compromise are a way of life. American billionaires and millionaires are unimpressed, and dollars are far more important than the game. Sorry.

I was done with this sport before all this happened because of the low talent levels and lack of fundamentals. I won’t miss it. For betting purposes, the NHL has replaced it for me. I have a family member in that league, so my interest has increased in hockey over the last few years, even though baseball is the only sport I ever played. At least in the NHL, there’s a lot of good young talent coming in every year because nowadays kids play hockey and soccer and only play baseball when they have a uniform on. I have empty diamonds across from my house all summer long in the daytime. They only play Little League and Pony League games at night. It’s like playing golf on the weekends and thinking you’ll be good enough to make the PGA Tour. I haven’t seen a pickup game in many, many years. Breaks my heart....

L.C., Some years ago I had a nephew that played professional soccer. I almost got interested enough to study the handicapping of it. Now I sort of wish I would have. Baseball is like a beautiful woman that is also highly abusive. How long do you put up with it?

mentally, physically, or verbally?

As kids, my generation might be the last of the ones that actually played baseball for fun. All though it was hard to get enough kids to do so. Sometimes, we could muster up enough kids to do 3 infielders, 2 or 3 outfielders and just take turns at bat. 3 outs then next batter up. Having 2 or more guys that could pitch was another problem.

I'll never forget the time my brother was playing catcher and took a foul tip right off his forehead. He shook it off and kept playing. When we got home my mom nearly had a heart attack when she saw the seams outlined on his bruised dome! I got my a s s whooped cause I'm the older brother.

From there on out, we found an old hockey mask like Jason Voorhees wore and used that. It was the only equipment needed besides gloves and a bat.

And when there weren’t enough players, there was always rundowns, pepper...many variations. We used to take turns to be the one to get to a field in the summer by 8:00 a.m. and put your mitt on home plate to claim that field before the rest of our players arrived.
