The last 2 sins in the movie 7 are ENVY and WRATH, not "jealousy". Brad Pitt becomes Wrath, and kills Kevin Spacey who was guilty of Envy. Spacey's twisted and orchestrated story ends the way he planned it, the bad guy won.

Brad Pitt(wrath) is the only character representing a deadly sin left alive by the end of the movie. Although, (sloth) was technically still alive, but he was brain dead and tried suicide by chewing off his own tongue. Yummy.

Only 2 characters were given a choice between life and death. The model(pride) was disfigured by Spacey. In one hand he left her a phone, in the other a bottle of pills. She chose the pills.

And Pitt(wrath) at the end, had a choice to kill or not kill Spacey.

The other characters, gluttony, greed, and lust had no choice and were murdered by Spacey.

If you haven't seen the movie...sorry bout the spoilers. It's good, check it out.

Don't doubt me on the Pentagon Papers, JEG. The military tried to crucify Daniel Ellsburg for being a Patriot. H.R. McMasters book Dereliction of Duty is a good example of just how the Pentagon led MaNamara and Johnson down a primrose path and lied all the way about our probability of success in Vietnam.

While folks wanted to crucify McNamara and Johnson, It was McNamara's successor, a crusty old Washington lawyer named Clark Clifford, that finally lifted the veil and exposed them to Johnson, making him too ashamed and embarrassed to run for another term.

Some of the younger guys here probably don't know what the Pentagon Papers were, but they were the Pentagon's own assessment of why we could probably never win a in a civil war in South East Asia. That is why they were classified and that is what made Daniel Ellsburg a hero.

In a sense, you could lay the Vietnam War responsibility on Lee Harvey Oswald. As a congressman JFK had been to South Vietnam twice, knew the corruption and probability there, and was not about to get deeply involved. Thanks to the "mutual defense pact" John Foster Dulles had signed while working for Eisenhower, we were committed to doing something, but JFK was going to limit that involvement to some arms and advisers, he was not going to take over the war as McNamara and Johnson wound up doing, thanks to the Pentagon.

    peace

We've reached May 10th, and the Hot Stove thread is still running hot...there's no baseball in sight, and we had a high of 37 in Chicago today. Bass have not begun to spawn yet as the water is still too cold in the midwest. I can't go to the store without a mask, sharks and tuna are endangered species, and last but not least, Key is running for president.

What on earth is going on?

37? No sh/t? If I split the difference with you we would both be at a comfortable 69, but no real need, 101 is not desert hot anyway, just warm.

37 sounds like a refrigerator around here, nice temp for beer. an_cheers

Yes it was Envy they called Kevin, very correct on that miscall by me,was kicking Brad out because he lived I guess and jealousy-Envy have some sameness to them, though Key would want the Correct word which is Envy, sac good to see your watching the right movies, the Post is a good one though I believe they did not talk much about all the stuff in the reports and the guy that leaked those Papers also worked for Nixon guys in the 1968 and 72 elections. So he was the guy that took the Pentagon Papers and was involved in the Nixon cover up.

One of the movies on LBJ has McNamara pushing LBJ more into the war with the President trying to resist as he wanted to do his new deal program for the middle class and every budget increase for Vietnam and troop increase took away the money LBJ wanted to use for his programs and if he knew about that report from before JFK there is no way he would of changed everything he wanted to do,which as Key mention he let the Military and McNamara take over his term and in shame he walked away in 1968 election which with the knowledge of report his first term is different and we do not get Nixon in 1968 and then in 1972 he uses ending the war to get elected,I wonder how different everything plays out if McNamara is not the scum he was or LBJ made his own decisions. Also LBJ might have let the Pentagon Papers get reported by the times so they come out in 60s instead of 1971 by Post. Then Daniel Ellsburg is not doing black ops for Nixon so he could of been a Patriot always,of course if JFK was not talking about the CIA being involved in Vietnam in the 50s and how a secret society can not exist in a free nation and that Nation stay free.

The different Country we could of seen with about 10 different things happening, only God knows how it could of been, sure would not be locked up at home in a cold war with China now.

Hello my friends.  Been to long.  I am very greatful to have this lock up time.  It has allowed me to collect UI and stay at home with family.  I am one in no rush to get back to work LOL.  We may also start to reopen the beaches which means we can enjoy more of Hawaii.  Problem is with this more and more visitors will come here.  That I know will bring the Covid in huge ways.  Anyways I know I am preaching to those that don't care LOL.

I enjoy watching KBO as it goes live for me 11:30 every night.  Not so bad.  I get to watch LG beat the crap out of a horrible SK team tonight.  Also enjoy watching them play the game right and with respect.

How nice! A surprise visit. Your ears must have been ringing from the short discussion we had about you the other day. It was sort of a "gone, but not forgotten" memorandum. Not too insulting, but as usual it came up around Cinco de Mayo and we were reminiscing about your days of celebrating a Mexican holiday in Hawaii with Margaritas, followed by a stint of rehab. Most of us have paid little or no attention to KBO, but some of the boys on the board are following it. We even mentioned the origins of the original 5 Inning Discussion Thread, with MrOPC the originator. Twelve years ago. Doesn't seem possible does it? JEG is approaching retirement now and we are busy grooming him for that. He may get lucky and get to cruise in  UI and his company benefits if the pandemic lasts long enough. Hope the family is well and we see you more often, but that may not be likely with the BoSox headed for a disastrous year, when and if they get to play. At least no team, including my Royals and JEG's Giants, will be given a chance to lose 100 games this year, LOL.

Well, JEG, it is not the “Big One” but 6.5 on the Richter scale ain’t bad. Right where it has been expected. Central California-Nevada border. All those years in Las Vegas I waited for the big one; apparently, I just did not wait long enough. Next Up! California falls into the Pacific Ocean, the population of the U.S. goes down by 40 million, and Nevada and Arizona gain about 600 miles of ocean front beach. You may want to get out now, or at least on the day you officially retire. What more is there to wait for? You will not escape “The Big One” and you know it. I think The Almighty has convicted L.A. and S.F. for being the modern Sodom and Gomorrah and has HAD IT with the whole mess. If you value your life, and more importantly, your soul, DO NOT DELAY. Forewarned is forearmed. Repent and be saved.

Somehow, I just can't conjure up an image of a little redneck shotgun shack under 400 feet of water being worth that much. Obviously you did not build your 401k with profits from land speculation.

Wisconsin is open for business. So much of the state's income relies on pleasure boatin, fishin, campin, and water parkin folks from the south.

It reminds me of the movie Jaws, when the Mayor of Amityville wouldn't close beaches, despite the man eating shark.

When covid19 began in March, Wisconsin told everyone from Illinois that they aren't allowed to come up to their summer homes. Stay out of our state they said, don't spread that sh*t to us.

Suddenly...as the weather turned(literally last week) someone realized that Memorial Day is next week and that the summer is about to kickoff.

Now they are telling us to "Come on Down! Your the next contestant on the price is right"
