The main thing for me this early in the season where starters are going only 1 to 2 maybe 3 innings, and positional starters about half a game, is to study the farms.
And as Key has eluded many times, there is NO home field advantage. But yet the books open lines with 15 or 20 cents favoring the HT as a baseline.

Really liked the Padres at +141 but stayed away since Lamet hasn't thrown a single pitch before today. Luis Castillo better get his act together before April.
Has anyone else noticed the Orioles bats on steroids this spring? Could they have something in their farm that no one knew about except them? This year they have the #2 overall pick in the draft, and 2 more picks in the first round. GM Mike Elias was formerly with the Astros and built them up when they were terrible. Looks like the O's are set up well to obtain talent, who they get and how they pan out is yet to be seen.
The O's should be bad this year, but let's keep an eye on their pipeline. If they get some arm talent, 2021/2022 will look brighter.

St. Louis (+115) *1/1.15
Lance McCullers did not pitch in 2019 for the Stros having Tommy John. He hasn't thrown a pitch in Spring yet.
Austin Gombers for the Cardinals went 6-2 with a 4.44 ERA/4.03 FIP in 2018 against major league talent. Then he ran into injury problems in 2019, bicep and shoulder problems. They did get him up and running in AAA eventually where he went 4-0, 2.98 ERA/4.00 FIP in 45 innings.
He has all ready thrown in Spring, giving up 1 run on a solo HR. He's ahead of McCullers, way ahead. He's a 4 pitch southpaw who's still young. He was well on track to being a starter for the Cardinals last year, but as mentioned he was derailed by injuries.
The Stros lineup is probably a bit better today. All starters might play 5 innings worth or so. After the 3rd inning when the bullpen carousel begins, who knows what happens? But I think the Stros will be the team behind the 8 ball at that point.

John Lester and the Cubs talent void farm vs ANYONE laying -160 is absurd. As John Lester gets older, the harder it has been for him to get going early on, especially spring. Since 2015, his Spring Training era is 9.12.
Graveman looked good in his first start, 2 innings of 1 hit and 1 walk ball. Vs an opponent quality of 8.8. The Cubs lineup isn't even close to 8.8.
He also missed 2019 due to Tommy John Surgery. In 2018 his #'s were jacked up with the A's because his elbow was all ready in poor condition. He tried to pitch threw it while avoiding surgery.
He actually made the Cubs AAA roster toward the end of the 2019 year, made one rehab start, and one AAA start. Then the Cubs dumped him.
Revenge?

Pirates RL(+155) *.50/.73
By far the most illogical bet of the year.
First off, betting the RL on a home team in Spring training is beyond stupid.
The Blue Jays are 5-1, 3-0 otr, with a run differential of +8.
The Pirates are 1-7, 0-5 at home, with a run differential of -31.
Hitting this spring:
Jays .258/.789
Bucco's .254/.768
Pitching this spring:
Jays ERA=4.97, BA=.245, WHIP=1.34, OPS=.736
Bucco's ERA=4.83, BA=.266, WHIP=1.41, OPS=.786
90% on Jays RL, 63% on Jays ML. The action on spring training is minimal. But, there's no way the books can be this careless with this game, I think. I'm ready to lose $50 just to see.
