 I do think the credit cards will prosper because people are going to finance their holidays one way or the other, but I think I am very lae with that idea.I do not think I expressed it weeks ago, but I felt the same way then as I do now. I did not act on it, however, as I did not want to cash out previous positions.
 I do think this is a dead cat bounce. As WSC says however, exporters will benefit from the continuing weakness of the USD, so any company that derives most of its income from abroad should hold up well for the short term.And as WSC says it does make all American stocks cheaper when bought with stronger currency holders.
 
 

  PS I bought a few stubs of GOOG myself even after the sage from Omaha said he really could not properly value it...I think it goes higher.

  What do you make of this comment on BAM? Excess from the  Cramer, as usual? I get worried anytime people start saying something is the next Warren Buffett, because Buffett is like Michael Jordan, there won't be another around for a generation.

I would urge you to buy more. This company is so smart. ... I think that Mr. Flatt [Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Flatt] , who runs the company, will be able to take that strong Canadian dollar and buy more American companies."

 I am paring down stuff but between this and BTU...am having a very hard time letting loose of either.

  I listen to a wide wide variety of people (including people here), and then make up my own mind. Always have, always will.

 That being said, I review every decision I make, and note where I got the idea from. I keep a diary. I am glad I do, and I am making it ever more densely annotated.

 As I posted before, I looked at one of Cramer's April recommendations, MOS, and understood, and even agreed with his estimate of why it was a buy.Did I buy it? Nope. But I mentioned it to my father, and he is very happy.wish I had bought a ton of it.

 I am eternally grateful that I listened to Jimmy Rogers years ago. Made a lot of money because his opinions on commodities were in every way correct.Had he been wrong before? Surely. He will be in the future as well.No one who stays in this game has a spotless record, including Buffett, who drove a company into bankrupty early on.Part of life.

  I think when I hear an opinion, be it politics, economics or any other thing, I never rule it out. I think about it, mull it over, sometimes for weeks, sometimes for the better part of a year, sometimes I know what I think in seconds (especially in politics... For example, if Charlie Rangel came into my house, I would count my silverware after he left).

  Usually I find myself ahead of the game, sometimes behind the curve. But I never rule anyone's opinion out.In economic matters, I will listen to anyone, rich or poor, but I listen more carefully to people who have and retain more money than I have, and I am not ashamed to say that Cramer has more than I do. So I do listen.You bet I do. Does he or anyone else on this planet make my mind up for me about anything? Nope.

 One of many reasons I got out of academia was that I realized I was surrounded by people who were A. certain of their righteousness and wisdom...and B.  had stopped listening to anything anyone had said or experienced since 1976. That is, your typical, garden variety Baby Boomer.

 Like I said, I listen to a lot of people...trust me, I have gotten  many good ideas from people much, much crazier than Cramer. (One guy, who traded cotton in Chicago, probably is living in a hut somewhere in Idaho, but he was right about ...oil...not cotton).

 And he was also right about: terrorist attacks on US soil. I will never forget the reception he got predicting that at a bash in 1999.

 

 
 

  Like I said, we all make up our own minds. I pick and choose.

 No one is never right, or never worth listening to, it simply depends on the times. And times do change, more profoundly, and more quickly, than people generally assume. Particularly, and tragically,  adults.

Keep in mind that I have been around Cramerica for almost 10 yrs on and off. The guy made his mark being a slimy hedge fund and he ADMITS it..

He now claims to be on the side of the investor..that is a ton of crap. He and this "charitable trust" garbage make me sick. Yeah he turned his acct to a charitable account but he screwed the average investor long enough to cover his needs for 5 lifetimes. He is on the dole at CNBC so he is hardly an innocent angel.

My advice after listening to him for years and watching him, is without the inside angle, the guy is a nobody. He knows nothing more than you or I do with some homework.

I also heard he strongly abused many associates and is a pain in the A$$ to work with.

I choose to laugh at Cramerica, not listen to him..and yeah he has made a few good calls, but MANY MORE bad ones, like Lucent, Charter etc..but you dont hear him discuss how he buried a ton of investors in those dog stocks.  

From my experience people seem to crystallize their ideas about a lot of things, at a certain point in their development, and see everything through that lens thereafter. Everyone knows of a person who has voted Democratic since FDR, or Republican since Reagan. No matter the profound change in world society and political party since either  man was around.

 Generals fight the last war, not the next. It is easy to get frozen in time. (The Baby Boomers still think it is approximately 1968, by my estimation. Not to pick on them, however...it seems every generation has to undergo such delusions.)

 The older I have gotten, the harder it is to shed beliefs seemingly "proven"  by  past experience. Given the rapid rate of change, which is getting exponentially faster, especially in business, it is easy to misjudge the profundity of change.

 One thing: has Rogers been right about the Fed the entire time? I think so, he just misjudged the length they could spin the magic act out. Of course he may have just lucked out and like a classic cut of cloth let the times come back to make him back in style.

 I don't doubt it for a second.Nor would that remark be off the mark for 95 per cent of American business types.Or any other "success story".Think his ego or arrogance tops that of, say Danny Snyder, or Steinbrenner?

 He would be truly exceptional if he were not all that and more.And again, you seem to confuse listening with admiration. I did not say I admired him, nor do I admire many many people.But I do listen to them.If I only listened to admirable people, I would have a lot of time to fill.
