Wow, kind of suprised about the passion/reaction here. It was just one race, first time two turns, slow pace and off a layoff. Again, the Derby is the goal.
Yea, if you're going to overreact to one race you could just as easily overreact to his Holy Bull Stakes race as you could this one. You just can't forget he ran that race because he didn't look that great this time.

Some people think Roused overreacted when he put money on this horse in the futures pool. Then after the Holy Bull he was a genius. Now he's a moron again.
Just kidding Roused, just using you're bet as an example of how people change their opinions based on one race.

Robert LaPenta's Dialed In, winner of the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes,
worked a bullet half-mile in :47 2/5 breezing at Palm Meadows March 24
in preparation for the April 3 Florida Derby (Grade 1). It was the
fastest of 19 works at the distance.
Working in company with stablemate Miner's Escape, Dialed In blew right past him, finishing seven lengths in front at the wire.
"He's just an amazing horse,"said trainer Nick Zito, who caught the
final eighth in :11 flat. "I've felt strongly about a lot of the horses
I've trained, but there's something about this horse that stands out.
He's been a gift from God. After what he did, winning the Holy Bull in
only his second lifetime start and off a 2 1/2-month layoff, we didn't
want to do too much with him.
"I hate to use the word 'bounce,' but that's what he did in the
allowance race (March 6 at Gulfstream, finished second), where the pace
was very slow, it was against older horses, and the winner (Equestrio,
who Zito trains) is a very good horse. I wouldn't be surprised to see
him win a grade I race some day."

Zito is reading my posts.
Just kidding.

this is it this coming weekend Rousy I am pulling for you baby. Dead serious. the numbers tell me no so far but I am looking for a closer that can run the numbers necessary to nail the guys up front in the KY Derby. Soldat likes to be up front and that horse that crushed that 7F G2 should among others set a swift tempo. Good luck in the G1 Florida Derby

Thanks Atlass. Yes, giant race coming up. Just want a nice run. A out of the money finish might not get him running on 5/7. I do feel he will bounce back because he is so talented.

That Sunland Derby, LA Derby, and race at Turfway really vaulted a few forward.
If for some reason three somewhat outsiders win the Wood, SA Derby, and Florida Derby then Dialed In might be on the bubble.
I think you're going to be ok. If he can run at least 3rd in the Florida Derby he should be fine. We know he can come from off the pace so he should be able to get up for 3rd if not up for the win.
I think you're set.

Rousy good point I just looked at the graded earnings list I hadn't checked that in a few weeks.

Thanks Atlas and DaCrusha. That Shackleford was one tough SOB, but Dialed in got there. Not super impressive, but I did have him to win and he should be second or third choice in the Derby. Appreciate the kind words.

great job roused i had a c-note on him just because of how much you liked this horse ..did not think he would pay 7.20 neither was thinking more on the side of 8/5 or 9/5..wish i would have had more in my DRF bets account at the time to put more on him...i am still kicking my self for not wheeling him on top for 2 bucks like i had written down.. instead i played to ten dollar ex 7/1 7/2 and missed the very nice 339 payout with the 60 to 1 shot hanging in there for the place money...great timed ride by JL..do not know if i will put him on top in the derby because his running style may get him in trouble being that deep of a closer but if he is 2 to 1 or better may lay the lumber again...good luck roused..

Wow, good for you UL. Yeah, he was favored in the early wagering, but floated up. I was sweating at the end and Shakle held well. Can wait until Mo runs Sat. Also, the pace in the Derby should be hot if the Factor goes.

What a long strange trip it's been .... wow NY Post today has an article about the derby hopefuls and their touting Dialed In to be the post time favorite, certainly not hard to believe, but dammit man Roused you caught a nice animal with your futures play, best of luck the rest of the way..... it will be cool to see ya make a nice score with this one

Thanks DaCrusha, you are one of the good guys. I hope to hell he wins, but please just make it into the starting gate. These injuries scare the hell out of me. He will be the post time favorite, but not by much. Wide open Derby.

agree with dacrusha... roused if this horse,, dialed in stays sound he could be the next risen star..being that deep of a closer kind of concerns me ..risen star would have won the triple crown if not for trouble in the derby,,yes EDDIE D knew he was the best ...i also like the horse that won the wood toby;s corner he may not be has far back and could get first run on the pacesetters with the under-rated eddie castro up...GL roused....

Thanks UL. Yeah, I am excited and nervous too. I just hope he stays sound and gets to run his race. Again, the field is wide open. Might be the best betting race ever.

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I will be shocked if he is the post time favorite.......assuming Mo runs. I think Mo will be three clicks lower than the rest of the field, if not more (like 7/2 and then 5 or 6-1). His back class lays over this field and there isn't one other three year old that could compare if he ever regains close to that form. Plus that 108 Beyer over the track is a huge advantage.....HUGE!
Crazy I know, but I can't get past the fact that this field would get crushed in almost any other Derby field.
Another observation. I wouldn't throw any contender out who arises from the preps in the next two weeks. This has every right to be a "Charismatic" type year.
Roused, this isn't a shot at your future wager, only an observation re: the betting line. I think Dialed In has every right to improve off that Gulfstream form and certainly in with a gigantic shot.
