I hate to sound like a broken record, but does anybody have any idea how much money and how many jobs the legalization of Cannabis and hemp would create? Several hundred billion per year and millions of jobs. But why should we try something different and at the same time why should we stop denying peoples' civil liberties? Let's just keep doing what we're doing. That seems to be working... lol

I don't think the economy is getting any better btw. I hear things on the radio but I really don't believe much of what I hear. I think the economy is just getting worse.

I agree 100% lots of people barely making ends meet. Bottom line is people will be spending less. When people spend less, companies will make less. So the market will go down. They have been artificially holding this market up. You can only do that for so long. If the debt ceiling isn't raised then those bond buybacks aint happening anymore. When that happens, the markets will panic. I can't believe that anyone would be optimistic about the economy. Way too much hope based on nothing.
Summarized exactly to the point! I couldn't of said it better

Give people the tools to be good parents and have a good moral compass and these problems right themselves.
You cannot regulate common sense.
Yes you are right we do need education!!! That's the only thing that will make a difference, this market cannot sustain itself. Only problem i have with your comment is that good moral compass bit, how can you teach people that they should be "morally good"? This views like it is impossible especially in this economy market system ( the whole system is based on corruption, lying and deception, I personally cannot see how people will put the "common good" before themselves especially in this social - economic environment.)

I don't think there's anything immoral about taking drugs. When you walk into a bar and see 100 people drinking alcohol, do you consider them to be immoral? Alcohol is a drug make no mistake about it. So how is it immoral to come home after work and smoke a joint to wind down... or smoke some crack... or drink a beer? Some things that are immoral are rape, murder, theft, assault, etc. Things that hurt others are immoral. It is not immoral to take part in a mind altering substance. People have been doing it since the dawn of time and it will never stop. They do it for different reasons, and a big reason is that it feels good. There is nothing immoral about feeling good and using drugs to do it. As long as it doesn't affect others in an adverse manner you're good. If it starts to, then you need to stop. If you can't because of addiction, that sucks. That's the risk you take.
I have a good moral compass, but I enjoy alcohol from time to time, and herb from time to time. That doesn't mean I'm immoral.
I do know what you're saying though. You don't want your children doing any drugs. I think the mistake that many parents make is using fear mongering and telling their kids that all drugs are terrible (which isn't true). This I think just perks a kid's interest. You tell him to stay out of the cookie jar and... well... cookies will come up missing. Parents need to educate themselves on drugs, their effects, etc. And then they need to tell their kids the truth about them. Kids go out drinking every weekend and drink themselves to death (literally) because drinking is okay. Many times, it's at least partially due to a lack of education on the part of their parents. Their parents preach don't do drugs don't do drugs don't do drugs... so the kid chugs a bottle of 151 and... there ya go. Now you have a dead teenager.

You guys are on the same track. I do not think that drugs in and of themselves are immoral. I do believe to excessively use drugs in a self-destructive manner is immoral. Everything in moderation.
We have no education in this country on what is important. We have no parenting classes, we have little help for people on how to lead their families and guide them. Some people do not even understand, they must be the person, the responsible one and show the way through their words and THEIR ACTIONS.
After I had my kids, I had a tough time parenting them. I used the same unsuccessful methods of my parents and was getting nowhere. I had to take it on myself to teach myself (through books and parenting courses) what the hell it meant to be a Dad. friggin tough job but well worth it.
We have kids having kids with no Dads in sight. We have the dissolution of the modern family. We have latch key kids and kids that are ignored. You want to fix the country, it starts at home.
All that said, I am reading about the Debt Limit and the Republicans will not roll over like a bunch of pussies again. Look for them to get big spending cuts or they will run the guy off the road. Either way, it looks bad.
I am watching Super Bowl booking in Vegas and the hotels are $50-100 under what they normally are. Supply and demand. I think many are still struggling just to get by.
