SWAT team fired 71 shots killing US Marine acting in self defense

So your contention is just because someone has a gun, inside his home, and you come barging through without announcing yourself, you have the fucking right to kill him when he's trying to defend himself and his family? All because you're protected by the badge?

This isn't at all about good cops vs. bad cops. It's about protocols. And after reading those articles and how the cops are shifting their version of the incident, does that not smell like foul play?

What does you never having to grab a loaded weapon in preparation of someone barging their way into your home have to do with anything?

I mean damn, dude that’s right up there with your comment of “most good people don't end up getting shot by the cops, especially in they're own home.”

 

That’s not what you’ve been saying. You’ve been saying that if this guy didn’t do something wrong SWAT would have never been there in the first place.

It’s not that we automatically assumed this guy is completely innocent of any wrong doing. It’s that you automatically assumed this guy was guilty of anything and everything the police accused him of, that he deserved to get gun downed in his own home, and everything the police are saying is the gospel.

Once again: SWAT breaks into a man’s house and they don’t announce themselves as LE until AFTER they fire 71 shots killing him. I don’t know how you handle your safety and the safety of your family, but if some unknown person kicks down my door I’m going for my gun. I’m not just going to sit there smiling like a jackass while my home is broken into and hope the people invading my house don’t murder my family and me.

When five SWAT members broke through the front door Guerena was crouched down pointing the gun at them, said O'Connor.

"The suspect said, 'I've got something for you,' when he saw them," O'Connor said. Guerena's wife denied he said that.

Deputies began shooting.

   That's ALL I NEED  TO start shooting!   I'd rather be tried by 12 then carried by 6 !

the deputies also said he fired at them first? so do you believe what they just said? i surely do not. they are just trying to cover there ass right now

You, however, assured us “that NOT one member of the SWAT Team went there with the intent of killing this guy” despite the fact you don’t know any of them from Adam.

 

If a group of men facing the possibility of losing their jobs or even jail time who have already changed their stories multiple times say something unproven happened that greatly helps their case then God knows it must be true.

so basically armed robbers can just yell "SWAT" outside your door and you are supposed to back down and tie your hands back.  no they did it all wrong they probably just yelled swat. waited appoximately 5 seconds then broke in.  what they should have done is said come up with your hands high waited several minutes and kept doing hte same process over again . they fucked it up i mean bad and some attorney will definately take this case for the all the money to be made

A lot of this could be cleared up if one or more of the SWAT team members had a helmet cam or hell even simply a recording device, but they don’t want that because then there is an account of what actually happened. 

Hmm, I wonder why they don’t want to have an account of what actually happened.  

I have doubts about whether or not they announced themselves as police at all prior to firing 71 shots.

if you hear somebody yelling outside your door after 10 hours of working grave yard shift and 2 hours of sleep. you wouldn tknow what the fuck people are saying outside your door. your wife is just hysterical saying people outside with guns and you grab your gun first. just first reaction.  people can scream outside my door and i would be like what did you just say.  come on guys how can u defend the police for this incident. all bullshit they fucked up. remember we are all human and yes police do  make mistakes all the time.

 if there is a fund out there or something to back up and help this poor family let me know a website so i can do anything to help them out. or a petition to help them out let me know asap so i can post it have people who believe the swat team is in the wrong please help out this poor family. if he was home by himself i wouldnt be fuming but his own dam kid and wife had to witness it and they wouldnt even let paramedics help this man out. 

I am thinking this is my final point(s).

If he had not been a suspect in a drug related case, SWAT wouldn't have been there.

Had he not pointed his weapon & say "I've got something for you", he would not be dead.

Again, I'm not saying the Police are perfect or that things certainly could've been handled in a different manner in this case. However, if you point a gun at someone, it shouldn't be thought of as ridiculous or excessive if you get shot back. Seems pretty simple to me. Good debate gentlemen

It is so fucked that police departments do the investigations for their own wrong doings. Does no one else see the clear flaw in that design?  The investigations need to be a completely separate entity that is NOT law enforcement to provide a check and balance on a police department's power and provide accountability.

This is going to come down to another case of the cops making a huge mistake once again, in their rush to wanting to break down doors and arrest people, while hoping they get the chance to unload their weapons.

Why did it take so long for the cops to let the medics come in? Did they want the guy to die so there would be no real witness left behind.

These para military swat units are way out of control in our country.

You already said you’re ok with the idea of SWAT teams performing the function of hit squads so it doesn’t come as a surprise that you think he brought this all on himself by being a SUSPECT in a drug related case.
