It's pretty obvious that you'll believe whatever the police tells you. Like I said, it's a case of he said/ she said. Let the investigation play itself out. In the meantime, how come the police are suddenly defensive with their story?

For starters:
Why didn’t the SWAT team announce themselves as police BEFORE firing 71 rounds killing a US Marine?
Why was it necessary for SWAT (who uses top of the line defensive ammo) to fire 71 rounds to put down a single unarmored man?

The US Marine lived in area that is known for home invasions and he woke to discover men breaking into his house. Is he supposed to just assume this home invasion is a SWAT raid and take no steps to protect himself and his family?

That could explain why he didn't even take his weapon off safety. The suspect didn't fire his weapon. Initially the police said he did. I wonder why would they say such a thing. Hmmm.
If SWAT didn't identify themselves initially, then it's clear and obvious that they are in the wrong. Period.
And they only found ""evidence pertinent to the case." Whatever that is suppose to mean. The suspect has no criminal record, but a few traffic tickets. I'm sure that warranted 71 shots, right?
The good drJ gets it. ![]()
And in regards to ROE, you couldn't be any more right. Let's only apply such toward possible enemy combatants in Iraq and not toward American citizens at home. Gotcha!

I'll take the high road and lay off the insults, but answer this, why did the police initially said that he fired at them first? ![]()

So if SWAT lied and didn't initially introduce themselves, who is to blame here? The suspect has no right to defend his home and family?
so your telling me the swat team just broke into his house and just shot up 71 bullets
?
You don't find that at all plausible? Seriously? Well those are the fact. The let go of 71 rounds.
Perhaps you'd like to defend the police in this case as well? LINK

It amazes me how, despite all that’s happened in the past decade, some people still put blind faith in the police. What’s more is they see the “official police story” of what happened and automatically assume its 100% true. Because, of course, there is no way in hell cops would lie to protect other cops nor would a cop ever lie to avoid losing his job or even going to prison.

I don't think anyone who commented on this very sensitive topic has "blind faith" in the police.
This thread quickly turned into it being about the "victim" or "suspect" being a Marine & supposedly deserving some kind of special treatment because of his previous service to our country.
We've all agreed 71 rounds is absurd, regardless.
The bottom line is that the cops/SWAT were there for a reason in the 1st place. For all we know, our beloved Marine could've been tweeking out of his mind on METH. No way to know for sure, but common sense would certainly lean toward SWAT announcing themselves before busting in the guys door to find him pointing a weapon at them.
Final point - most good people don't end up getting shot by the cops, especially in they're own home. ![]()

The SWAT team IMHO were justified in shooting to death the former marine who raised a weapon at them regardless what his intention were by doing that. You just can't do that when law enforcement is confronting you for whatever reason. This gives them justification for firing at you before you can even think to fire back at them.

But then again if it's not true that this marine held a gun and raised it at the SWAT team then the SWAT team murdered this troubled man and would not be justified and so did he or didn't he have a gun in his hands and raised it at the SWAT team?...that is the question that needs to be answered truthfully. ![]()

“This thread quickly turned into it being about the "victim" or "suspect" being a Marine & supposedly deserving some kind of special treatment because of his previous service to our country.”
I don’t really think that requesting for police that are going to break into someone’s house to identify themselves as law enforcement PRIOR TO firing 71 rounds and killing someone is asking for “some kind of special treatment.”
“bottom line is that the cops/SWAT were there for a reason in the 1st place. For all we know, our beloved Marine could've been tweeking out of his mind on METH. No way to know for sure”
And for all we know the cops murdered him in cold blood and then doctored the crime scene. There’s “no way to know for sure.”
“common sense would certainly lean toward SWAT announcing themselves before busting in the guys door”
So because it’s common sense does that prove that the officers did it?
“Final point - most good people don't end up getting shot by the cops, especially in they're own home.”
And most women that aren’t person don’t end up getting raped, especially in their own home. What’s your point?

I hope the truth comes out and justice is handed out accordingly. But with the way police departments are run I doubt that will ever happen.
