I wonder what Sheriff Arpaio has to say about this tragedy. I sense a major civil lawsuit coming up.
As a former marine, I just wanted to say Sempi Fi to a fallen marine. ![]()

I've already acknowledged that mistake 5FF. FWIW, we need more "Sheriff Joe" in this country running law enforcement. That man has a set of stones and isn't afraid of the politically correct crowd.

Regardless of this tragedy, I cann assure you that Not one member of the SWAT Team went there with the intent of killing this guy!

How can you? Were you there? You're painting with a broad brush there.
As a military man, I'm all for law enforcement. Having said that, they are human too and despite their many good intentions, all it takes is just a rotten apple or two among them to tarnish that image just like what jlt9889 stated above.

Straightshooter:
I guess what I'm saying is that if this guy was just another drug dealing scumbag from Tucson ( which maybe he was, just has a "Marine" label), no one would give a shit if SWAT blew him away, right or wrong.
2nd, dude (suspect) had a gun pointed at them. Shooting is justified, period, end of debate.
I am not in law enforcement but I've never heard of SWAT not making themselves announced before entering a home. THEY said they came in sirens blaring etc...I have no reason to doubt that this is the truth. Again, no way to no for sure but benefit of the doubt goes to law enforcement, just my opinion.
"And most women that aren't person don't end up getting raped, especially in their own home"
Dude, that makes no sense whatsoever. My point ,AGAIN, was that if this guy did nothing wrong, they wouldn't have been there in the 1st place, hence, he would'nt be dead. Pretty basic & easy to understand. ![]()

So what did this guy do wrong? According to those articles, they've got relatively nothing on the guy after going through his house. Ever heard of mistaken identity? And why the need to keep changing their story from SWAT being fired on first to now the suspect never fired a shot and his weapon was on safety.
Also you try working extra shifts over night and then crashing to sleep at around 7-8 in the morning only to be rudely awaken an hour later and see what frame of mind you're in. All the while living in an area that is notorious for home invasions. And you've got a wife and kid to protect in your own home.

Perhaps you don’t care if SWAT teams function as nothing more than hit squads, but most people do.
So police break into a man’s house and don’t identify themselves as police until AFTER they fire 71 shots killing a US Marine and its “justified, period, end of debate”? Perhaps in your dystopian society it is. Not in America.
You have no doubt that police officers that could be looking at losing their jobs or even facing jail time are telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? If that’s the case I have a few bridges I could give you a great deal on.
You said “most good people don't end up getting shot by the cops, especially in they're own home.”
I countered this ridiculous statement by saying “And most women that aren’t person don’t end up getting raped, especially in their own home. What’s your point?”
It's interesting that you think my retort makes no sense since it makes as much sense as your statement.
If your point in all this is that if people do nothing wrong then the police will never break into their homes and arrest or shoot them then you clearly don’t know what you are talking about.
The idea that “good” people are completely safe from the police and that only “bad” people need to worry about the police is one of the most naïve concepts I have ever heard.

We don't know what he did wrong aside of being accused of drug dealing. The Police did not disclose what was recovered from the home in relation to the investigation. I guess what he REALLY did wrong was to point a weapon at the SWAT team. Pretty big mistake.

I'm sure they feel bad the guy is dead, as do I. Maybe it's not politically correct to believe in the greater good anymore, but I still do.
And for the record, I do work 2 jobs & live in Phoenix only 2 hours North of Tucson & I do have a 14 year old daughter at home. Never once have I grabbed a loaded weapon (which I do own) in preparation of someone barging their way into my home. This is probably because I'm not a drug dealer or have anyone looking for me.
I would bet my left nut this guy was into some illegal shit ![]()

I realize it's a possibilty that an innocent person could become a victim. I'm not an idiot, or naive. I'm saying that USUALLY, MOST OF THE TIME, Police / SWAT don't show up at your house unless you've done something wrong. Why is this so difficult for you guys to see? You've automatically assumed this guy is completely innocent of any wrong doing. Is it because he was a Marine or because he's dead? Dude F-'d up by pointing his weapon at the SWAT team. I'd bet my right nut he knew he was in trouble...![]()

Did you even read the article? It appears you just formulated an opinion out of your ass.
And I do apologize for getting the counties mixed up.
Where is the poster shootupdaclub? This would go well with his "Another pig out of control" thread.

first and foremost none of us were there
second the suspect was armed
third the swat team took it upon themselves to self defend
fourth they claimed the suspect shot the first shot when it was a blatant lie
fifth now they are trying to cover there ass because they did this mans family wrong
sixth there is/was and will not be any drug connection with this man so it will even make this worse
seventh we do not know if he ACTUALLY pointed the gun at the swat team (so they claimed)
eighth you cannot actually KNOW 35,000 people and what they are capable of. you can interview 35,000 people and honestly say oh that guys is not a killer? at least 3 percent out of those are bad seeds
ninth i know one crazy mother fucker who just finished the marines and owns 7 guns in this motherfucking house. he would be glad to kill any mother fucker that gets in his way and would kill if he had the chance. that is why he joined the marines for combat. some men just love the power of holding a gun in there hands
tenth we will see how this story unfolds so whoever posted this article please update us with any information

Ok, a few key points.
1. The Marine was in trouble for something, or SWAT wouldn't be there in the 1st place.
2. Seems almost impossible that the fallen soldier didn't realize it wasn't a home invasion. He had enough time to get his wife & kids in the closet in another room before he posted up with his weapon.
3. I'd be willing to bet he was offered the opportunity to "come out with his hands up", before they busted in & saw him pointing his weapon at them.
4. The police/SWAT may have been in the wrong. I don't know the protocol, but I'm guessing it's ok to shoot someone, already a suspect, who is pointing a weapon at you.
5. Had the Marine complied, or not been doing something wrong in the 1st place, none of this would've ever occurred.
6. If the story is factual in it's content, it seems undebatable (to me) that anyone of us would've taken him out, Marine or not.
Some additional facts which seem pertinent:
7. The SWAT team had the paramedics cooling their heels for more than an hour after the shooting before telling them that Guerena was dead.
8. The sheriff's department has given no indication that any deputies made any attempts to apply first-aid or life-saving measures.
9. Mrs. Guerena was talking to the 911 dispatchers for almost 5 minutes after her husband was shot, pleading for somebody to send an ambulance.
10. After dragging Mrs. Guerena out of the house, deputies refused her pleas that they go in and bring her 4-year-old son out so he wouldn't see his father dieing. Instead, the 4-year-old came out of the closet he had been hiding in and was looking at his father when deputies grabbed him.
11. The search warrant was reportedly sealed after the raid.
12. Despite the claims made by the PCSD spokesman that the SWAT team announced its arrival with lights and sirens, the published news accounts have the neighbors only describing shooting and screaming, no police sirens.
13. That same PCSD spokesman also initially told the press that the SWAT teams bullet-resistant shields had been riddled by Guerena.
Others will have their own opinions, but all this makes me more inclined to think that, regardless of whether the killing was intentional or accidental, somebody (or several somebodies) in the PCSD definitely seem to have screwed up after the shooting had stopped.
