We have kids go "over the hill" in war into a hail of bullets and take one for the team. The Japanese have kamikazes.  These people are sacrificing themselves for others. Jesus made a good call and all by dying on the cross to take care of all the sins of man but I think most people when faced with this decision would have done the same?
Not all that big of a deal?

You must be kidding right? No way do you honestly think that most people would do the same for all of mankind like Jesus did. Especially is this day and age of greed and selfishness. Either your kidding or you don't exactlly understand what it could be like to be tortured the way it's described Jesus was. In his time there was a lot of ways to be killed for whatever reason, and if you had ever seen or heard of any of those other ways, you would see that they were all pretty horrific. At the time they considered crucifixtion to be the worst way to be killed. So considering that, and even still you might be a strong person, would you still think that MOST people would do that for anyone else? I would consider myself a strong man, but if I knew what I had to go through, I don't think I could easily say I would, however go through it, because I beleive in mankind. It just wouldn't be an easy thing to do.

We will have to agree to disagree. For  all of humanity I would take one for the team. I would do it for my kids alone. I think most parents would.

Hey guys, I am still waiting can I see the quotes from Jesus on homosexuality?

Or are we still going to quote OT and my wife has to sleep in another room when she is on the rag (which I believe the Orthodox person still practice by the way)

I have to admit, I do come here for answers and I am still looking for my own belief system. In that light and on this subject I read a really good idea about Jesus.

It stated that Jesus was not the one who made the sacrifice but that GOD DID!

When you think about it, this actually made sense to me because to have my only begotten son crucified would be a huge sacrifice.  To me, this does make sense.  I read it in the book "Heaven is for Real" good read.

What about gambling, internet porn, being rich etc?

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

"He will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

    What is gambling about? no?

"Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth."

Making money on gambling is easy, no hard work really.
Bible doesn't mention "roulette" but wanting to make money doing that is lazy work.

Gambling is "the love of money"

    What is gambling about? no?

"Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth."

Making money on gambling is easy, no hard work really.
Bible doesn't mention "roulette" but wanting to make money doing that is lazy work.

Gambling is "the love of money"

    Are you asking a question?
Are you implying that because someone gambles, they're not a Christian?

It's very easy to judge others, that's true.  But a person's personal relationship with the Lord is a rather private issue.

Should we be gambling?  Isn't buying stock a gamble, these days more than ever!!!

I think that's not really the issue of this thread - to judge people's vices.
I do believe, however that God forgives us of our sins, if we humble ourselves before him, ask for forgiveness, and this is the hard one....turn from our evil ways.

Some people are very good thieves, lyars and cheats...Some are really good at it, would you agree with that?

You see what is written in the OT and automatically nothing else can shift your judgement on that subject.

I will agree that what is said about homosexuality in the OT is strong, but what I know for sure when you learn to open your mind is that, being gay is absolutely 100% not a choice, it IS the way they were born.  You must get that through your mind.

Who knows, we deal with reality not fantasy, but I know a few things...

A god wouldn't make a book that says that slavery, rape, genocide, and murder are ok...

A god wouldn't create homosexuals and then say that homosexuality is wrong...

A god wouldn't create a person give them "free will" and then condemn them to hell for not doing what it wanted...

A god would not create a person give them a mind and ability to reason and then condemn them to hell for using it...

A god would not condemn people to hell for not believing in it with no good reason to believe in it...

I could go on, but you get the point...

All of the laws that God handed down to Moses which includes the Ten Commandments and laws like forbidden sexual practices that homosexuality comes under still stands. Add 1  he/she/it  after creating the earth and the heavens( we can all agree thats no small task) would then just let a small group in a small geographic area in on the secret. Like some kinda puzzle to amuse his/her/ it'self.

Every SINGLE argument the atheist has against God is FLAWED. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

The atheist has NO standard to compare God against.

    Look at it like this...

    System is NOT a mechanic.

    How do i know this?

I asked System to fix the gearbox in my car, he tried but didnt know how to.

I asked System to change the spark plugs in my car, he tried but didnt know how to.

I asked System to do a grease and oil change in my car, he tried but didnt know how to.

If System was a mechanic, he would know how to perform those above tasks.

A mechanic would know how to perform those because a mechanic performed those tasks.

System is not a mechanic because i compared him against a standard - the standard being a qualified mechanic. The mechanic is tried, proved and tested, therefore the mechanic is the benchmark.

Now, let me ask you this....

    God doesnt exist because.........................????????

What are you comparing this against? What standard or benchmark do you have to compare it against?

Is there a God textbook that states there would be no evil in this world? No murders? No diseases? No anger?

Says who? Have you compared our world to another world where there was definitly a God?

Have you lived in another world where there was a God, and because there was a God in that world, you know how they behave?

Or is there a God textbook that is tried, proven and tested which shows there is no God in this world?

YOU HAVE NO STANDARD OR BENCHMARK TO COMPARE GOD TO. Therefore, every argument is flawed.

Every atheistic argument is based on an emotional wishlist

I think that's not really the issue of this thread - to judge people's vices.

You're not following the teachings of Jesus if you gamble.
HE says it several of times - loving money and trying to get them the easy way is WRONG.

Gambling is love of money and an easy way to make them.
It's not hard to put a chip on number 10 hoping for a quick buck.

So yeah, you can't be a true Christian if you continue to spit in Jesus' face.

So stop gambling, stop having sex before marriage, stop looking at porn, stop drinking alcohol, stop smoking etc.
In short; stop living - you really don't need to live as the afterlife is SO much better.

I have seen a priest about this.

    Look at it this way.

If i was earning $1000 a week. Is there a difference, if i

    a) Spend $950 a week gambling, resulting in me and my family starving, unable to provide shelter, schooling, education etc

    b) Spend $50 a week gambling, after i have confortably provided for my family?

The bible says, "love of money" is a root "of all kinds of evil".......

Therefore, in which scenario above, a or b do you think it is applicable.

It is only a sin in scenario a....

Is (b) providing me or my family with any evil?

    But (a) definitly is........

    Hahahaha. Are you serious?

You're gambling because of the love of money. Period.
Jesus' teachings are VERY clear about this.

But you don't accept Jesus' words BUT you accept some unimportant man writing about the bad things of being gay,

    Come on, hypocrite.,.

Gambling and the love of money is a sin according to Jesus - no matter how you try to justify your wrong doing.
Come Judgement Day and you will realize this!

See.. I don't deny why I am gambling - to make easy money. Easy money is bad according to Jesus.

You have to work hard for your money.

If you deny this you're lying to yourself...well guess you already were..
