If Christ died on the cross for all of humanity

what is the big deal?

I mean he is the son of God, why does it matter that he gave his human life on the cross. What is a human life worth in the Kingdom of God?

Is this really that big of a sacrifice? Think about it. If he dies at 27 or at 77 what is the difference? If he dies in his sleep or on the cross, what is the big deal? He is the son of God for crying out loud, what would the worldly issues matter for his life when he will spend the next 10,000 years at the right hand of God?

if you know that your son know people who are drug addicts (sinners)

and he dies for them for some sort of reason. maybe saving them from a fire or whatever

He didn't have to die brother.  He went through that horrible experience even though he could have called on God to destroy the whole world. 

Santa didn't leave me a present, the tooth fairy didn't leave me a quarter, the coyote will never catch the roadrunner.  But I was lucky to pick Arkansas to win this weekend.

This is kind of my point. I am not much of a guy. I drink a little too much and gamble too much but as I was thinking about the dying on the cross thing it came to me that I would take one for the team too. I mean, do not get me wrong,  I really appreciate what he did and all but would not anyone do that?
We have kids go "over the hill" in war into a hail of bullets and take one for the team. The Japanese have kamikazes.  These people are sacrificing themselves for others. Jesus made a good call and all by dying on the cross to take care of all the sins of man but I think most people when faced with this decision would have done the same?

How did the writer of Genesis some 2000 years ago know that the universe had a beginning? Something that scientists with all the technology they have are only now able to confirm.

No disrespect intended but he died on cross right?  Why would you pray to that cross?  If some new messenger of god start a new religion and somehow become huge , persecuted , ended up in electric chair and dies. His follower pray to electric chair?  It's just weird thing to pray for. 

I know what you are saying, it is not so much about the cross itself, it is more about respecting the symbolism..

Respecting the symbolism i can understand that. But to make a cross as the symbol....   tool of execution as a symbol.  Hard to understand for me as a non christian/catholic.  That's all.
