 I would say that there has been social equality, and opportunity for the vast majority of Americans that WANT IT for the last 40 years. Since 1975.

Of course the key word here is you have to WANT to succeed and WORK hard for it. You should give it a shot Scal. America was the grand experiment.  

Now, if you want to split hairs on equality and a "level playing field" in the present day US economy, then I could illustrate how the ObamaCare plan has destroyed small business with unmanageable insurance burdens, and penalties for not toeing the government line, but that argument  will fall on deaf ears.

And, undoubtedly you will go to the google machine and start your patented avalanche of cherry picked statistics that will back up whatever view point you decide to go with that minute.......

At the end of the day, you just don't get it.

If you read the OP, this is more about the hierarchy of race than it is about a flippant and wildly disrespectful racist comment itself.

Not only did this woman try to shame one black person with her comment, she tried to do what the bigots on here and everywhere do; assign blame to ALL blacks for the sins/crimes of a few (and in this case, the CRIME was leaving a ceremony the bigot dismissed them from).

And it is remarkable in that it is done on a microphone at a graduation in front of all friends, family, relatives etc.

When she's called out on it? The devil made her do it!

She absolves herself by pointing her finger on a deity but her larger message is not lost:

Know your place when I speak to you!

And for that, the racial hierarchy exposed, the pomposity, the environment she did it in...that Vegas, is what makes it news. Everything not bolded has been disregarded since it is not inflammatory on my part, but your part.

Wow. What a year!

So let's start with that. So a significant numbers of minorities who today who are alive, and around ages 30 to 40, some of their prime working years, had parents who were not given equal opportunity or access to the now touted 'grand experiment' (as though this is supposed to invoke warm and fuzzy feelings of success in the gut).

So let's see, wouldn't that effect the environments - towns, cities, schools, communities - the parents raised their children in, who you just admitted did NOT have equal access by default, to said grand experiment, since well, they were raised in a world before 1975?

And what are you?  Are you a product of the world your parents came from?

What if your parents were raised in a world of unequal access and worst of all, not only societal, but government-sactioned racism??

How would your life be different? What would the outcomes be as a whole for those who are children of a mere generation removed from again, GOVERMENT sanctioned racism???

Or were you like Moses, a baby in a basket and sent floating down the Nile, making it all on your own. Maybe wolves would have raised you and one day you struck it rich by selling your internet start-up.

Everything that happened before that? Including the very parents who lived through all the unequal access and virulent racism prior to 1975??

The truth is, it wouldn't have mattered what year that I gave you....your argument is that given the "environment" in which someone starts their life, absolutely dictates where they end up.

So, inevitably, it is an impossibility to ever improve yours or your family's lives.  The past dictates future. 

Well, if it is impossible to ever improve one's circumstance due to uneven conditions present surrounding one's birth, then the whole argument is moot. 

I guess Scal has adopted his own "caste" system based on race and socio-economic factors for America in 2015.....sort of shoots a hole in the "Hope and Change" mantra.

It shouldn't take Scalabrine much more than 20 or 30 pages of analysis to come to that conclusion.

At the risk of sounding a bit on the arrogant side, I am reasonably certain that I understand your argument with a great deal of accuracy.

The argument that you make is that one's socio-economic surroundings and background as an adolescent have a great impact on one's entire life.

I get it. The biggest challenge that I am having with this conversation is comprehending just why YOU think that the ideas outlined in your argument are so grandiose, and impossible for a poster in the General Discussion forum to grasp......

In closing, I will leave you with the following scenario to illustrate my argument as the US being the "grand experiment". 

Imagine you were born as a lower class citizen in India. They are referred to as "untouchables" in their culture, and have been for a thousand years. There is absolutely no way to move up.....the only way to deal with the reality of never ending poverty, and despair is to put faith in devices such as reincarnation, or some sort of heaven upon departure from this plane.

The US was a place where no matter how bad the situation was when you were born, you still had a shot to change your life. It may not have been as good of a shot as the guy's across the street, or the youngest Kardashian sister's was, but it was still a shot. 80% of recorded human history would kill for the average American's shot.

That is what you don't get...and you never will get it. The sad part is that I typed the previous paragraph in the past tense.....I did that, because guys like Scal would rather tear down the achievers in an attempt to boost the disenfranchised. Our current government is from the Scalabrine school of thought, and that is a tough pill to swallow. 

If there is no incentive to achieve, then mediocrity reigns, and the few will rule the many.

So Scal, whats the solution for the black community to erase stereotypes and advance as a people? I'm sure you would agree looting and rioting are not helping their cause. I'm aware white have the advantage in life (school, money, jobs etc).....So, what can blacks do?

And people wonder why I consider you one of the biggest lowlifes on covers.

In 2010 there were about 15,000 murders in the US. I'd say the pattern was relatively stable in 2013 so we'll say it was 'around that' number in 2013.

And 409 black on white murders is less than 3% of all murders.

189 is about half that and less than 1.5% of all all murders.

Is this significant in relation to all murders? No.

But people like Slovak and Bettting, using it so they can continually defame the black race in every and any way, look at all those murders as HATE crimes, but only with regard to he black on white murders of course.

What's remarkable is that those numbers don't represent the true number of the types of murders in question, and the murders that are completely absolved as such: cops killing (and don't forget injuring) minorities and blacks.

Of course, these aren't murders at all...well because they are scrubbed from the roles. Police? Well in virtually EVERY case, unless the ENTIRE incident is caught on tape, they are not murders (and even if caught on tape it's likely not a murder!).

Anything else? No. I didn't think so. But you see, bigots love proportions and ratios! When the numbers don't work in their favor? Just say, 'LOOK what Blacks did is more than doubly bad' (and yes it comes out mangles like that from their mouths).
