lmfaooooooo yeah then everybody will do that crap and the whole system falls apart.

$75 is so nominal to the issue at hand here. As people we are taught to help others in need. Hospitals are required to do it. Bottom line, you handle the issue and deal with the matter after the fact in court or bill him. Would assume that a smart individual would have written that into the service fee should you decide not to pay. Then it becomes a choice of $75 or thousands of dollars. Since it is not insurance, but rather a service fee, does it carry over from year to year if the service is not used. Let's face it, $75 was not going to pay for those firefighters to put out that fire so what is the point of the service fee.
I'm not condoning him not paying the fee, but the reality is that the fire dept was dispatched and just sat there putting out the fire on the trees, which also happened to be on his property, so why did they do that.
I guess the real question I have here as well is if the man was trapped inside the house would they have gone in and rescued him because he didn't pay a service fee or would they have let him burn to death. I mean where do you draw the line on this.
Little late to the talk.....did you even read the whole thread or did you just stop by to be a dick.....

This really is a dumb statement. So lets see everybody dont pay the fee, then the city will provide the services and then take the property owners to court to get 75 bucks from. Boy that will really be a huge savings on the city, paying lawyers and court fees to get 75 bucks.

My politics are all over the map on different issues; but I am reminded of these quotes
"...the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped. " ~ Last Speech of Hubert H. Humphrey
"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Ghandi If following an argument to the nth degree to keep it consistant, with absolutely no regard for compassion or common sense and decency, is of the utmost important to the right. Then piss on the right
so you are saying this homeowner was an infant? on his deathbed? sick, needy or handicapped? or weak?
im assuming he wasnt an infant or on his deathbed, so that means you think he is sick, needy or handicapped. if he is one of those, arent there already govt programs designed to help these ppl??? and this is the same govt, who cant even advice a sick or needy or handicapped person to pay for fire protection, that you want running out banks, out auto industry, our health care......???????
do i have a problem with helping out those that need to be helped, of course not.
do i have a problem with bailing out a grown man, who made a grown decision? yep, sorry.

I read this whole thread and alot of you people are trying to compare apples to oranges. Trying to compare a person getting medical attention at a hospital to a firefighter putting out a fire is 2 completely differnt things. So please stop comparing the two, because if your over 21 with a highschool education you should be able to understand they are 2 differnt things.
First off i want to say KOAJ was one of the first persons to nail it in this thread. There was a 75 fuckin dollar fee to get fire service, pay the damn fee if you want it, but dont cry if you dont pay, then need the service. If everybody pulled this crap the system would fall apart. Everytime i send in my check for auto insurance or home owners insurance i get sick to my stomach because am not using any of that shit, why do i got to pay for it? Cant i just pay later on after i use the service? Come on people wake up.
Next up lets address the firefighters, you guys are attacking the firefighters for not putting the fire out, when you should be attacking the politicians who created these policies for the firefighters to follow. Some of you fail to realize had these firefighters gone in after having direct orders not to, they all could have lost their jobs and on top of that if anybody got hurt or killed, they might not have been covered themselves. So lets see they should risk all that because some cheap ass fucker wanted to be a smart ass and not pay a lousy 75 bucks to get service. Screw the firefighters and their families, just take care of the freeloader. Once again wake up people. The firefighters were there not to watch the guys house burn down, but to make sure nothing else around it burned. Being a firefighter for 25 years, you can bet your ass the firefighters didnt take any joy in sitting there watching the house burn down. As somebody else mentioned in this thread, they were looking at the overall picture. Also am 100 percent sure that if any life would have been involved, they would have jumped into action and disregarded all orders to save a life, because any person that joins a fire dept, does it for more then a paycheck.
Firefighting is a service, its not a God given right, so to sit here and think people should just show up at your house and perform emergency services for free, is insane. Firefighting is an option every city and town decides if they want. Some use paid services which the tax payers pay and some use volunteers {which personally i think these guys are crazy to do this job for the small retirement benefits they get paid} Most towns use volunteers or contract out to bigger cities for their protection. Bottomline is towns and cities need some type of fire service or their home owners insurance would be thru the roof. Cities really need a paid service because of the amount of calls they go on, where as you cant expect volunteers to keep leaving their real jobs constantly to respond to calls. Businesses in cities couldnt afford their insurance costs if cities didnt provide fire services.
I got off track there for a minute, you cant expect other human beings to just do everything for free, just because they are capable of doing it. Hell the next time i go to my doctor, am gonna ask him why does he really have to charge, since he has the ability to treat me and should just do it for free.
Bottomline like KOAJ said, you cant let one guy get away with this crap, because then they all will do the same thing. Why people think they should just be handed the services of others for free is just plain crazy.
This guy rolled the fuckin dice for a lousy 75 bucks. He shouldnt blame anybody but his cheap ass self for what has happened to him. 75 bucks to get complete safety 24/7/365 days, where can you get a better deal then that. I worked for a paid dept in a city and the cost to the taxpayers was anywhere from 150-350 per household, depending on what your property value was. Homeowners and business got protection 24/7/365 days a year. Not very much to pay to know you will get a response to any emergency with crews showing up withing 2-4 minutes anywhere in the city. Anybody that knows anything about firefighting, medical calls or any type of emergency call, knows how crucial having that kind of response time can make in life or death. I know this all to well. Last month i lost my Mother to a heart attack and due to her living in a rural area, volunteers responded to her house and they did everything they could possibly do to save here, but the sad truth is she really didnt have a chance due to the response time involved with volunteers getting there. So the next time your paying your property taxes, know that some of your money is going to a service that could very well save your life someday.

Little late to the talk.....did you even read the whole thread or did you just stop by to be a dick.....
Yeah dickhead, am late to the table because my Mother died and i havent been around the site. Anymore questions?
First off hospitals are required to treat people because thats the law, theres no laws saying a firefighter has to provide services for free. Doctors, nurses and everybody else in the hospital are still going to keep collecting their checks each week, no matter how many free people they treat. Instead of sitting here blaming firefighters for not doing anything, blame the politicians and residents of that town for creating those policies. Had those firefighters gone in and lest say one of them got killed, you can pretty much be sure that persons family wouldnt be collecting any life insurance due to disregarding a direct order. Insurance companies just love to look for small things like that in order to not pay, but hey dont worry about themselves and their own family, just worry about some cheap ass jerkoff who didnt want to spend 75 bucks on the service. Guy probably spends more on beer in a month then the lousy 75 buck fee.

no your right, thats gonna be a complete nightmare and could very well destroy the system, if they just let people jump in when they need it.

are you like 12? doesnt matter what its called. Its 75 fuckin dollars. Pay the 75 if you want fire protection or dont pay it, choice was up to this assclown. He chose to be cheap
Also am sure the insurance company is gonna give this clown a hard time collecting his cash, due to him not having the proper fire protection for his property. Insurance companies base your rates on the type of fire service you have where you live, if you have no fire protection, you can be sure his insurance would be alot higher. So it will be interesting to see if he told his insurance company he had no fire protection services for his house.

UPDATE:
SOUTH FULTON, Tenn. - A woman in the southern state of Tennessee said Wednesday she doesn't blame the firefighters who watched while her house burned to the ground after her family failed to pay a $75 annual protection fee.
Paulette Cranic said the firefighters who came to the scene were just following orders. Her family had paid the fee in the past but simply forgot it recently. Cranic, 67, said she's just thankful no one was hurt in the fire last week that destroyed the doublewide trailer in rural northwest Tennessee.
"You can't blame them if they have to do what the boss says to do," Cranic told The Associated Press. "I've had firemen call and apologize."
Firefighters did not try to save the burning structure because Cranic had not paid the subscription fee for fire protection. Firefighters went to the scene to keep flames from spreading to nearby property whose owners had paid. The county has no free fire service.
Her grandson, Lance Cranic, 21, who lived there with her and her husband, started the fire while burning trash in a barrel. He went inside to take a shower and upon returning saw a shed next to the house in flames. It spread despite his efforts to put it out with a garden hose.
Paulette Cranic said they had paid the fee in the past, although sometimes late, but it slipped their mind this year.
Lance Cranic said "this is something I've got to live with the rest of my life."
"To see the house and everything you grew up in burning down before your eyes is kind of harsh," he said.
He recalled that he called the fire department and asked them to come but they declined.
"I was in shock," he said.
Local officials did not immediately return phone calls Wednesday to The Associated Press for comment but have confirmed to local media that the family did not pay the fee.
They forgot. A charred home seems like a bit of a heavy price to pay

lmfaooooooooo yeah they should disregard direct orders and put their whole life and lifes of their family in jeopardy in order to save some guys house who was to cheap to pay a stinkin 75 bucks.
Direct your anger at the people responsible for this. The home owner and the politicans who created the policy.
The guy wanting to pay after he needed the fire service, clearly shows what a complete jerkoff he was and how his rolling the dice cost him his house. Dont think hes gonna have a real easy time collecting from the insurance company.

So if you have a wife and 3 kids and you are the only one with a job in the family you are supposed to basically tell your boss “fuck you” when he gives you a direct order and loss your job so you can save some dumbass’s house and dogs when he obviously doesn’t care very much about either?
