I've been wagering on sports online for 13 years, and have been a loyal Bookmaker customer for about 6 years. Probably the best sportsbook I've ever been associated with. I've never had any problems with payouts with them, that's why this whole situation I'm currently in has really thrown me.

I requested a payout on 10/13 for check byFedEx for $3000, and received it on 10/20. I chose this method because of the amount I wanted to take out, and the last time I ever requested a payout by check, there was never an issue, so it didn't cross my mind. I would always use WU and MG, as well as bank wire. Anyways I chose this method, and wish to God I hadn't. I deposited the check on 10/21 into a new bank account. I was told there would be a hold until 11/1, perfectly fine. I was then told by my bank on 10/28, that the check was showing as being fraudulent. The check looked questionable, which made me nervous to begin with. The branch manager said he tried googling the bank, and a sex website popped up. And of course he asks if I can give him additional info about where the check came from, which I of course cannot.

I have tried contacting Bookmaker on a daily basis since 10/28, and I'm being told it's a processor issue. On 10/31, the processor emailed Bookmaker, saying to wait for an update. And today, the processor told Bookmaker that the check cleared on 10/24. The money shows in my bank account, but there's a hold on it from the bank. What a mess! And I really don't know how to proceed. Any insights anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

That sucks- sorry to hear!  The sign that the end was near was when greek pulled out.  I played with the greek for over 10 years and it was like having money in the bank....NEVER 1 issue!!  Bookmaker changed their website recently because the feds are hot on their tails.  I have no faith in overseas books that still accept credit cards from the US.  Greek never did but somehow Bookmaker does....a recipe for disaster.  The US wont allow it to continue.  At this point the only book I feel comfortable at is Heritage....and thats it!!!  Or find a good local which is also hard to do these days with all the scams out there and wanna-be bookies that are really just degenerate gamblers.

Yeah I just discovered Heritage, and they seem awesome. I'm just worried about this $3000 right now.

I'm sure they will clear it up somehow......I'm more concerned with Bookmaker longer term.  I tried sending a MG to Bookmaker about a month ago and thought I was going to be arrested or some shit at WalMart.......they called for a supervisor, then a saw a security guy came over....I was thinking "is this what placing a bet on a god damn game has come to"???  Almost not worth it to me.....Turned out that many of the "agents" that pick up for BM have been tagged somehow because the clerk kindly told me "we are sorry sir but funds can not be sent overseas for the purposes of gambling".....I almost shit my pants but was not about to argue.  BM is a huge target for the feds currently...because of their volume and because MANY MANY US bookies funnel money/bets through BM.

I can totally relate to your Walmart experience. I've been questioned before by cashiers, but thankfully nothing quite as bad as you. I just hate the questions, and feeling like a criminal. Once trying to send money by Western Union, I had the rep asking meall kinds of questions. Like a description of the person, how I know them, etc...And don't even try sending money online through MG or WU. EVEN WORSE. Of course I used to send money all of the time, and would have a huge list of different names on the computer I have sent to. Like I know that many people in the Philippines. That's why I hate sending money.

I think I'm done with BM, but just concerned about this money. I've been researching some stuff online, and I fear that shit might be about to hit the fan.

If the check actually did clear, the bank has no real reason to put a hold on it. They only put a hold on suspected fraudulent checks if they think there is a chance the funds won't clear. I'd close my account with this bank for being overly nosy.

You'll get that payout......I wouldn't worry.  Contact one of the mods for some help either here or at SBR......both have great relations with BM and will gladly help.  Act quickly to get your money.....even if it is caving in on them, they dont want the negative publicity until it goes under....take action.  Best of luck to you!  Not like the good old days.........maybe NJ gets this shit approved and I can take a quick drive down the Parkway....boy that would be nice.

Cobra Kai, I am copying and pasting below what I wrote in your other thread regarding this issue. Honestly, I think the problem is your bank.

In the past 30 days, I have received 2 checks (both for $3000) from bookmaker. I deposited both into my Bank of America account and both cleared no problem. I've heard about a lot of issues with 5dimes, but this is the first with bookmaker. Since your check cleared, it sounds like the issue might be more with your bank, rather than the processor. Just a thought because like I said, nobody else seems to be having these issues.

I just received this email from my bank: "The check is showing in your account because the hold expired.  However, if a check is going to get returned it can sometimes take some time.  Since check showed early signs of it being fraud there is lock on the account until we can prove that the check will no be returned.  I hope this helps your understanding of the situation. "

If that's the case, then you're good to go. Just give it some time. The checks they send are never fraudulent. They're just run through different processors to make it appear that they're not coming from an overseas sportsbook.

Hope you're right Kaufee. Like I said, I haven't been through anything like this before.

I agree Kapono. Not a fan of this bank. But they kind of have me by the balls right now, because they haven't returned the check yet, if they do. I guess I can only sit and wait...

I'll be shocked if the check gets rejected. Just sit tight and be patient and you should be OK

i had a rocky experience with moneygram the last time i sent one, it was only for a measly 50 or 100 last year i believe and it was fucked up although it went through ok in the end.  I have not sent a moneygram since.  What also bothers me is the fact that i've had my eye on opening an account with bookmaker sometime in the future, but i don't want them to close shop to us customers to have to go through the bullshit that comes after the fact, on top of all the fact that their site was seized back then, that is fucked up.  Only solution is to move to las vegas and deal with the ridiculous juice there but at least you can get paid directly after the games.

As of 11/7, bank still has a lock on the funds. I contacted Bookmaker, and they said they're working on receiving proof from the processor that it cleared, and sending it to me. We shall see...

You need to check with someone who knows about banking issues because I am pretty sure a bank can only hold a check for so long.

Bookmaker's processor is saying it has cleared on their end, but I'm still waiting for them to send me proof. The only answer I've received from the bank is the earlier email I posted on here. I've sent them another email asking more questions, but no response yet. I posted this issue in the SBR forums as well, and someone posted that the same thing happened to him, and that he had a secondary bank account, and he just had to wait. He said I just have to wait, but I'm trying to get a time frame from my bank.

I filed a complaint with SBR, and I was told this is a banking issue, and they can't freeze the funds forever, and I need to be persistant and follow up. The money shows as being cleared in my banking account, but it's just frozen. The way I understand it is they're trying to make 100% sure it won't be returned. But I mean how long does that mean I wait?

Spoke with Bookmaker today. Here's how it went:

Payout Support: How may I be of assistance?

BKR11749: Hi I was wondering if you've heard from the processor regarding my $3000 bank draft issue, in which I'm unable to receive the funds with my bank. Have they shown proof of the check clearing on 10/24 like they earlier stated?

Payout Support: Allow me to check...

Payout Support: Thank you for being on hold...

Payout Support: Allow me to copy/paste the answer the processor has given us...

Payout Support: Mr. Harris needs to ask the bank if he is the one that has to provide proof that the check will not be returned or if they mean it as an internal process.

    BKR11749: I don't understand what that means?

    BKR11749: Internal process?

Payout Support: According to the processor everything is ok... The bank was able to pull the fund out...

BKR11749: But they still have the funds frozen in my account, and that's why I was seeking some sort of proof that the bank has indeep pulled the funds out, and the check has cleared.

    BKR11749: *indeed

Payout Support: In that case we have to wait a little bit more since they haven't sent a copy of the clear check yet..

BKR11749: They have the funds frozen in my account, and claim the check shows signs of being fraudulent. I just don't know what's going on

Payout Support: The check is ok... Otherwise they wouldn't be able to pull the funds out...

BKR11749: Can't they fax or email a copy of the cleared check? It would help out my situation tremendously.

Payout Support: Of course once we have a copy of the cleared check, we'll let you know..

BKR11749: What was the name of the bank again the check was from?

Payout Support: It is a bank from Singapore, however the processor has not provided it as it is not necessary since the bank could get the funds..

Payout Support: Don't worry, as soon as we have a copy of the check flagged as cleared, we'll let you know..

BKR11749: It's difficult having a conversation with the bank when I have to be vague, and don't have all of the details.

Payout Support: As soon as we have a copy of that check, we'll let you know...

BKR11749: Thanks for your time. Bye.

Payout Support: Have a good one!

Now it's back to the bank. Seriously want to shoot myself in the face.

I just sent this email to my bank:

"Hi ****** it's ******* ****** again, account number **********. I don't mean to annoy you with emails, but this whole situation is very vexing, and I'm just trying to understand fully what is happening. In regards to the $3000 check from the bank in Singapore, I was told it cleared on their end, and the funds were pulled. They're wondering if you need this proof, or is this an internal issue with the bank? And I understand you might not have all of the answers, but I'm trying to receive a time frame on all of this. How long will the funds be frozen in my account? Again ******, any answers you can provide. Thank you."

    Awaiting a response....

Cobra Kai, you need to leave that bank. They're being ridiculous holding the check this long. Since you started this thread, I've actually received another check from bookmaker. I deposited it on Saturday and it cleared this morning in my account. That's 3 checks for me in the last 30 days and all 3 cleared right away.

As soon as they release the funds (and they will b/c I guarantee it cleared) you should withdraw your money and tell them to go F@ck themselves
