Ok, I started to handicap this game by first looking at the injury and ineligible lists and saw that Penn State will have several players out due to an assult case at Penn State. So that first got me worried...then I saw that this game was being played at San Antonio, Texas, giving A&M an advantage. After looking at that, then I looked at the QBs playing this game. McGhee is an average qb at best who did though have his best game against Texas their last game (who we all know then destroyed Arz St in the Holiday bowl)....and Anthony Marelli's numbers although better than McGhee's must be put in the context that most of his numbers came agains teams like Buffalo, and Temple, and FL International....so I almost say that's a wash maybe even a slight edge to McGhee for his last game performance...
The running games for both teams are effective and primary options in both offenses. Penn St has a better running D, but I think A&M plays against better opponents (they faced Kansas, Mizzou, and Oklahoma) in a 3 game stetch so the numbers might be skewed.....
But lastly, as I copied above.....came the schedule and man, I could not ignore that....A&M has absolutely beaten no one besides that rivalry game against Texas and a 2 pt overtime victory against Fresno St at home! This is also a team that lost to Miami who absolutely stinks, and beat a terrible Ok St team by 1 at home.....
I just can no way in good conscience take take A&M in this game even if it is at a "home" site and the line at 4.5 is juicy enough to take a better Defense, a better physical team in Penn St in this game. TAKE PENN ST -4.5

OK, I'm not sure what the hell that post is s'posed to mean exactly, but it fits in with what I'm about to share. Not sure just yet how big a deal this may be, but there is potentially a big motivation gaffe at play that could light a fire under Penn State.
Thursday night's dual-school Alamo Bowl pep rally on the Riverwalk in San Antonio found a male Tex A&M cheerleader yelling this in front of fans of both schools:
"Joe Paterno's on his deathbed! And someone needs to find him a casket!"
Saying that in an anonymous chat room is one thing -- yelling it in public before thousands of fans is something else. It goes without saying that this was a big mistake -- big enough to lead the president of TA&M to call the president of PSU to make a formal apology.
In the end I expect this game to be decided on the field and not at a pep rally. But you never know how things like this can snowball and be used as motivation. Especially when the opposing team just lost their head coach. Taunt at Paterno riles Penn State faithful
Here is a link to the video of the event. It's about 2 minutes in -- and the opening bit is pretty boring, probably one reason the kid got frustrated and yelled the insult -- he was bombing.
KSAT.com video
What an idiot. That's why that guy is a f@cking cheerleader and not a Football player and even if he was I would be the first Mutha F@cker to TAP his A$$ out on the football field.
Joe Paterno is what 81 years old now and still coaching now that is one tough S.O.B. I have seen 30 year old guys that can barely get their A$$Es out of bed to go to work let alone accomplish what Joe Paterno has done.
That's it I'm flying over to San Antonio and putting a rear naked choke hold on that man cheerleader.

All is well Big D, they sent the cheerleader (male) home. That should make all the difference with one fourth of the A&M crowd not knowing when to yell.
PSU at the half. Aggies wil probably catch on to the cheers in the 2nd half and even up things.
Man, that was some intense capping.

BigD, if it gets you riled up like that, how do you think it makes the players feel?
Check out this link to an Alabama blog with Joe's supposed response to the TA&M yell leader. It's a riot. It's does have a few bad words for those of you who might be offended. (Yeah, right.)

I had BC big at -4.5 and - thankfully - also had them in a teaser and first half -2.5 so I basically broke-even...but Purdue has won s/up (and was close to covering) and MSU covered the spread...
Thanks for your input!
I think michigan state cheated

After further review.........Penn St. should be able to take these Aggies out!!! The Aggies defense is awful.......Morelli is a better throwning QB......run games are similar........coaching.....even dead.....Joe Pa is better than Mike Sherman.........I am changing my play to Penn St. Which is scary......the last 4 times I changed my play from earlier predictions........I got spanked........but you can't call out Joe and say we need to get a casket!!!!!

Penn St. -5 (2 units) vs. Texas A&M - well the Alamo Bowl has a great rematch on their hands today. These teams played each other a few years ago in this bowl, and it was one of the highest rated games in Alamo Bowl history. Today looks to be a record breaking crowd and believe me when I say that Penn St. will be well represented as well. The Nittany Lion defense and Paterno won out for me here, look for them to control the 2nd half of this game and shut down that Aggie offense.

Stats are very deceiving for Penn St. Look at those defensive numbers they sport? But against who? SOS for Penn St was 65 and A&M was 27. A&M had the good SOS but who have they beaten? Texas. Anyone else? Were they competitive? Not really. Penn St also lost in "bigger" games, i.e. OHST and ILL. I'm also disturbed this is in SA, TX tonight. BUT, in a battle of wills and team preparation, I do not think A&M could carry Joe P's jock strap. I'm going with the been there, done that before.
Penn St. -5

Tex

I like PSU here, also. I usually don't like laying over a field goal, but A&M is not going to run the ball, which makes McGee have to throw the ball, and nobody wants that. PSU defense is going to play spectatular and make the A&M spirit squad wish he never opened his mouth.

Great card on Sat my fellow MMA brothers or sisters out there. Enjoy the fights
Thanks for the reminder BD! I was really hoping to see Hughes put the beatdown on Serra tonight. Liddell vs. Silva should be awesome. Gotta try to find some place to watch it tonight or some site w/ an online feed.
oh yeah.. go Penn St!

Looking for input on this one. Cannot get a feel for this. Appreciate all the comments. Joepa usually pretty good when given this much time, but they have no scout team guys that can emulate this offense. Probably better to sit this dance out, but will continue reading the posts for some gem that pushes me one way, or the other.

Scorpio Morrelli is up and down... Penn state all season has been a team who has come out in the opening quarter flat. Morrelli has the arm stregnth with the best of them, however he makes bad decision constantly. I dont kno alot about the aggies, but i see Penn state comming out and spreading the field and trying to get the ball to their WR who are all very good... Look for the aggies to key on Williams #2 for PSU hes the X factor.

Both teams are 2-4 against the 'better' teams on their schedule.
This one looks to be close.
Those State Penn Nittany kittys to win, but not by 6
I'll take the Army Trainning Corp boys + 5 1/2...... Franchione not being there, can only help those Tejas Ammo & Munitions folks out, in the long run.

I have one unit on Penn St at the half -3. I also have a 2 unit teaser with PSU +1.5, Patriots -6.5 and NE/NYG over 39.5.
I may add more on Penn State here, esp. at the half with an easier number to cover.
Here's the deal on what to expect from PS: - probably will start out slow - will kick butt in the 2nd Qtr - if they need the offense to win a close game, they lose - if they need the defense to win a close game, they win
Morelli is really not that great, especially when it counts, like at the end of a game when you need a score. But he has a great group of WRs and a great TE to throw to, and all those guys make plays. They make him look better than he is. But he managed the bowl game well last year, and if he can do so again today his legacy will be pretty decent. I still don't expect to see him play on Sundays.
I expect PS to win the special teams battle. Two great return guys in Williams and Wallce.

This is from the Alamo Bowl media day....

MEDIA: My girlfriend said you can still do it.
COACH PATERNO: Said what?
MEDIA:
You're in great shape and you can still do it. I think you can still do
it. You have been doing it and you will continue to do it.
COACH PATERNO: What are you talking about doing? Holy smoke, I'm not Hugh Hefner, you know.
