If you bet on UNC then you really are only hoping that VT has a letdown because all in all there is just nothing anyone can like about the tarheels. If they had beaten FSU then you could say that they are turning it around but they stunk the secound half of that game.
The points must be delicious to some people.

Yeah I think the mixture of expectations the high point spread and the vaunted defense really have people believing. Just don't see it. Good Luck buddy. I kinda wish the Heels would have won last week, cost me a little bit of cheeda. Oh well. Make some back..

More was expected from Illinois and they haven't challenged anybody. That rationale isn't a good way to look at it. I agree that North Carolina's defense is pretty good and could keep them in the game. I just think that offense and defense go hand in hand. If North Carolina is punting the whole game the defense will tire out. So you can only rely on a defense for so long. They are good, but they aren't good enough to completely carry the team. Virginia Tech can dink and dunk, run the ball right down the field tonight in my opinion. If Yates can manage to have a good game, which I see no way in hell then I think they keep it close. Thats the only way. Unless Virginia Tech turns the ball over a bunch, which is definitely a possibility but UNC's defense wasn't very impressive to me in that facet of the game, causing turnovers that is. So I just don't see it.
Why do you have to knock My Illini man? I know they suck!

Both of these teams love to catch points - and neither of them thrive in the giving points. I will take the team in the familiar role the double digit dog -
North Carolina is 1-3 this season ATS but as underdog, they're 7-3 ATS under Butch Davis. UNC is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog of 10.5 or greater. UNC is also 13-4 ATS in road games after failing to cover the spread in 4 or 5 out of their last 6 games since 1992.
Virginia Tech is 3-8 ATS their last 11 games as fav.
BTW, Va Tech is giving up around an average of 19 points/317 yards a game this year.

the funny thing whodey is that you were raving about unc last week and their defense and even gave some props to their offense....
vtech has looked vulnerable at times this year and really doesn't deserve to be laying this kind of chalk imo...ponder a top 10 QB i think and unc saw that...taylor is not a passing stud by any means..they will run the rock and prolly resuly in quite a few FG's.
I mean this is great value... a conference game and this many points...butch davis is a great coach and his team is only getting better...unc o-line getting healthy and should be able to run the ball enough to maintain decent field position
it seems like you are making a revenge bet or something
just my take sir...gluck

No UConn, like I said previously. When I first saw the line I wanted to jump on the Heels. And this is a completely different situation than last week. Florida States defense isn't good at all, so I figured UNC could move the ball. Anyways like I said I disagree that there is great value catching 3 tds I'd say would be great value. UNC's defense is good, but like I said, their defense is only going to go as far as their offense will take them. What I mean by that is, eventually the defense is going to wear down. If the Heels have a bunch of 3 and outs and can't keep their offense on the field like I fully expect to happen tonight. Then I believe their defense will be in big trouble. Plus Yates looked horrendous against that team last week, terrible, now tonight he has even a tougher task. After watching that game I realized that UNC isn't very good. I do agree with Butch Davis is a good coach, he definitely has UNC going in the right direction. He just needs to recruit some play makers. They dude lose Hakeem Nicks, Richard Quinn, and Brandon Tate to the NFL though...so their offense will be better once they get some players back in but as for now they are one of the worst I've seen.

fair enough guy i agree, i think unc is a joke on offense, but vtech offense isn't anything to be excited about either...if vtech gets defensive TD's then they will prolly cover, but thats a tough thing to rely on. i prolly will not be playing this as i see it going both ways...but unc did slow down a great passing offense in fsu for most of the game..if not for the whacky 98yd TD that game could have been much different...i dont see vtech having those kind of explosive plays or ability to move the ball

I just think with how bad UNC's offense is that they will be the benefit of great field position all night. You can only stop a team so much if they keep getting the ball at their own 40. 60 yards is a lot different than 80. I think Virginia Tech scores one either on defense or special teams tonight.

Look at VaTech schedule thusfar....have played really only 2 quality teams and lost them both...Bama and GaTech....Their best win against a suspect Miami in driving rainstorm ....beat a mediocre Nebraska by a point and barely beat Duke by 8 miserably failing to cover the 17....
So let's be generous and say the Miami win was a quality win....that's it for the Hokies....
I'll absolutely jump on UNC +16 here.....No doubt about it....I'm not sure the Hokies ever even lead by16 in this game.....

But again Richard...this is probably the worst offense that Va Tech has faced. And those trends mean absolutely nothing to me at all....
I cap the game..not previous bs..
UNC's defense is allowing around 50 yards less than VT's Defense. VT's D is allowing approximately 4 yards per carry and 13 yards per catch. Yes they play well against Miami but that was in a bad weather. UNC's offense is bad but if they can manage to move the ball methodically within the average that VT's D is giving up so far this year, with possible couple of big plays down the field, I can't see why they can hang in there with VT, especially getting the 2 TDs+.

I don't know how NC establishes a running game to keep them in they game... one man show (Yates). Butch better hope his defense is a good as advertised or this games gets ugly early.
VT rolls on Thursday.

Stack 8 show blitz confuse Yates. 8 in the box, make Yates try to beat you. Florida State eventually did it.

richardtonsj - Losing Nicks and Tate kills them, they have no play makers on offense, well at least no one has stepped up yet. Which is the reason they are so bad offensively.

I don't necessarily worry about line movements. The only time I really got worried when I placed a bet was a few years back. The Bengals were playing at KC...Jared Allen was on the team the KC squad at the time. I remember it vividly I placed the bet the Bengals were like -3 and in a matter of an hour our two they were like 2 point dogs. I knew I was fucked. A point here or a point there doesn't bother me sometimes, I think they do it to play with your mind a little bit, so I don't factor it in too too much.
Who is on UNC ML?
I'm not a reading of the tea leaves guy either. I was hoping that I would get +17 or better but when the line went to 16 I took it. I waited becaue I thought more people would be on VT but I was wrong.
Matador has UNC +800

This isn't looking very good for me. Glad I just played it small. Virginia Tech didn't take advantage early.
