I agree. Yesterday morning I told myself if the line hits +17 I would jump on the Heels. Then as the day went on I kept thinking about the game. The heels offense is really a joke. They put up points against FSU, but that isn't saying much. Tech coming off of a tough loss, back at blacksburgh for a night game. The atmosphere is going to be insane, and they will showup to play. The game will be played closer than the score will indicate. I expect it to be typical beamer ball. Tech will keep hitting UNC with body shots, and just wear them down. Then a few big plays on defense and special team will just demoralize the heels, and get the stadium rocking.
I see Tech playing with alot of short fields this game. They are going to win the field position game, and then create a few turnovers and big special teams plays. I'm thinking it will be 35-10 Tech tonight.

Shit, if it drops anymore i'm dropping the hammer. Even if it steadies out at 14.5 I may just buy the hook, at worst I think that would push. But yeah, that's why they play the games. I can't find a legitimate reason to back UNC other than just the general perception people may have. VT isn't stout at QB, and UNC plays good defense. 17 Points may be too much wood to lay on a lower scoring game. On paper this game looks like UNC is probably the play, but I have watched more than enough of these two teams sofar this year. That line is begging for UNC action. I like my money on VT at home on a thursday night. If UNC is going to cover, they will need to establish their run game so the field position battle isnt completely lopsided.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to take UNC. You just sound like you're worried because the line keeps dropping.
The only time VT has played a legitimate defense, they've been shut down. Look at the Nebraska game. Yes, they scored 24 on Bama...but 7 came directly from special teams, and 10 came indirectly from special teams and D thanks to returns into Bama territory.
We all know Nebraska's offense sucks but they almost won that game against VT (if not for a miracle pass they would have won). There is a big advantage along the LOS for UNC, especially when the Hokies are on offense. Say what you want about last Thursday but FSU couldn't run at all on the Heels.
IMO the only way UNC doesn't cover is if they get turnover crazy...which could happen.
Whodey, just 3 days ago you said you were waiting for a half-point before you would take UNC. Now you see no reason to take them? BOL either way; it just doesn't make sense to reverse field on a game this much.

Sometimes I post before I even look into a game that explains the early liking of UNC. Number 2 I'm not worried at all about the line dropping I'm worried about everyone falling for the Tar Heels tonight. I'm worried that everyone is going to be on the wrong side thats all. This site is for helping one another, correct.
You just compared UNC to teams that they shouldn't be compared to. Alabama's defense is much better, Nebraska was playing well at that point, but since then the QB play has really killed them.
UNC could very well get turnover crazy...

To me it looks like the board is pretty close to 50/50 actually. A lot of the newer guys are on VT. Agreed that the board is for help and appreciate your insights.
So who does UNC's defense compare to? VT has put up points against Duke, Marshall and Boston College (who sucks ass on the road and has a glaring weakness against running QBs). VT did well against Miami but that was much more on the defense.
I think UNC is at least similar defensively to Bama and Nebraska. A lot of people took UNC last Thursday and now have a bad taste in their mouths about the heels. Fact of the matter is Christian Ponder is a top 5 QB in the NCAA this year. Tyrod Taylor is not. Nebraska still looks OK statistically on offense because they beat up on Sun Belt teams. They do not have a good offense, especially with Helu banged up.

I think the Newbs are on the right side. I think most of the other cappers on the Tar Heels are taking it because of the line personally...
UNC's defense plays fast I'll admit that, Miami got steam rolled by Va Tech. Va Tech is going to steam roll UNC simple as that. If UNC covers I'll be the first one to admit I'm wrong. I just don't see it.

Both of these teams love to catch points - and neither of them thrive in the giving points. I will take the team in the familiar role the double digit dog -

In my opinion you can't think like that.

I got VT -16.5 but my biggest concern is VT being up for the game. They lost to GT and along with it they lost the ACC championship. Hopefully 2 weeks is a enough time to refocus.

I said in my thread, if I could get 13, I'd switch sides. Right now, after learning of VaTech's dominance on Thursday nights at home, I really couldn't consider taking UNC with out getting at least 24.
Good call from the start! You VaTech guys made me research a little harder, and, therefore take my play off the board.

Glad I could help...Something is not right about this game. Like I said I looked at the weekday games right away on Sunday, I leaned the Heels immediately. I looked at the line, and then of course I dug some more. After capping the game and doing a few other things I realized that Virginia Tech was the play up to -20 thats just my opinion. But since UNC was my original lean and my gut feeling, I'm playing Virginia Tech very small.
