Sorry wmi. I "spin" things the way I do because the intelligence level and trolling here on this site is so hideously nonexistent and ferocious respectively that I will look you up and sit you down when you open your mouth. You want to spin a 35-20 capper in 2016 as a 50% capper, I'll be right here to make a fool of you. So step right up if you want to be next.

Rousey does tout the FearTheReturn BS via her Twitter. It's going to be quick but I lean Nunes to pull it off.

With the fight less than 48 hours from now, I thought I'd bump this baby up again and see if there is any additional information that would be worthwhile as fight week has been ongoing

I will say am impressed with Rousey's conditioning/physique beyond the instagram photos. She was on a UFC vlog released 2 days ago and looked fantastic. I prefer Nunes not get on the ground with her as she could be overpowered. Nothing new on Nunes. She is just doing the media circuit like any fighter.

Rousey's silent treatment of the media? We'll see how it works out.

I was hoping the mods actually did their job and moved it to the MMA section.

    It would be best.

HoustonSports seems like a good guy. But, he is so far up Scalabrine's rear, I think he knows what he had for breakfast this morning!

As always, thanks to Scal for sharing his thoughts. I dont think people really appreciate what this guy does for the forum community. He writes books about how he sees a match up, usually backed up with some kind of psychological perspective. And he does it for free. For everyone. On a weekly basis. Thats like one million times more than 98% of the posters on Covers do - COMBINED. And there are people coming in here hating, its a disgrace. What quality things do you get for free in this world? Nada. But I guess youre just not bright enough to see the value of arts, of things produced by a mind.

Well, I followed Papas and Scals discussion now for a while. And whatever side you are on, just appreciate both opinions for what they are. Opinions. Both guys give their opinions and try to convince the other of their point. Theres no need to see it as a personal fight that necessarily needs a winner. They both made great contributions to break down this fight even for idiots like me. And thats a highly valuable thing - in a free for all forum. Tolerating other opinions is something this world has to learn again.

Thanks guys. And a good 2017 to you.

All Im wondering with my inexistent knowledge of this sport: How in the world do we get Rousey at almost -130? Shes the American, she has the world wide name recognition, she has the storyline on her back, she is definitely the fighter the public will bet on heavily. And the line moves closer and closer to even money. I think all this should be more alarming for RR backers.

Just an update: This bet was put in early and UFC bets evolve during the week of the fight.

    My concerns:

    1. Not liking this Nunes is down to +110 on 5 Dimes. Seems fairly insane. That doesn't affect the fight but I don't additional public money on a bet driving this line down which I can only assume is due to the Rousey media blackout.

    2. Rousey looks tremendous. Not that Nunes doesn't because I haven't seen her physique of late but Rousey may be in the best shape of her life.

    3. Having watched several videos that have come out this week, Rousey has a world class ground game. I knew it was good but it is far better than I thought after seeing some expert analysis on how she gets holds and maintains them/gets strikes in. She has ended fights so quick I didn't think it was as solid as perceived but it is.

So I'll concede some points to Papa on Rousey (not on the public favorite issue but on the technical aspects of her skill set which he did argue sufficiently).

And I made these concessions because this is the first we have seen of Rousey in forever. Nunes has always been here.

Just wanted to put that out there because Nunes has a difficult road here. More difficult than I thought. I'd just reread the thread and assess which side you like best as always. There is enough info here on both sides (in far different writing styles) for you to make that determination.

I don't know what is going on with the line Dirk. Rousey media blackout is all I can surmise.

Scal you getting wobbly on me now..........I loaded up Nunez on your recommendation, but as always it was my decision no one held a gun to my head. I saw some recent videos of RR too, she's a beast with those man arms and back and shoulders. It's pretty simple, if she gets Nunez to the ground in Round 1, this is over in 20 seconds, if not, Nunez should beat the crap out of her the way Holm did. I think she gets a beating and retires, and we never see her again.....anywhere.

FWIW, I see this fight exactly the same way and agree with the analysis.

Bottom line is that Rousey doesn't want to fight anymore....she is simply fulfilling her obligation to Dana and UFC....and Nunes is one tough customer. One HUNGRY customer.

Nunes in a knockout. Rhonda is done with fighting....it is time to be a movie star or end up on Vivid video for 5 million.

    Best of luck.

I loaded up on Nunes as well Charlie. I come along with my readers with my bets.

I'm just assessing what I am seeing based on media week. We really didn't see Rousey for a year outside of an Ellen Degeneres and Conan 'O Brien appearance. The UFC dropped a vlog (I will try to find it), and Rousey just (regrettably) blew me away with her physique. I'm not liking all the musculature. But Nunes could have beefed up as well. Muscles don't rule the UFC. We know this. I just don't like Rousey of all people having the musculature in addition to her skill set.

This is the risk I took putting a bet in early. Would I still be taking Nunes? Yes, but for less (and the odds are worse as well).

Just tempering my original cap with more info which I now have. It would be irresponsible of me to exhibit all this bravado now that I have more info.

I am afraid Nunes will try to charge her at some point and if she does this too early she's toast. If she boxes and gets her shots in we are good. We have to hope she catches her with a solid right. Rousey has a lot of tricks up her sleeve though.

But remember, we are taking the dog here and what was once a significant dog (+300ish) so I know the risk in doing so, just like taking ML dog in the NBA or NFL. Risk brings reward.

Nunes won't be able to execute as well as Holm for two reasons.

She's not as technically skilled a striker as Holm and she doesn't know what to expect from Rousey. Holm trained to counteract Rousey's bullrush + takedown strategy. She also benefited from Rousey believing she could box with her.

Nunes won't have either of those edges. Rousey won't bullrush someone with knockout power again and she won't try to outbox Nunes.

I don't see Nunes beating up Rousey like she did Tate. Either Nunes lands a big shot or ends up on the ground tapping out.

Hoping for the same result obviously! Nunes is one of if not the best puncher in her division with Holm.

You're second paragraph is true. I knew that going in. Rewatched the Holm fight and she was ready for all Ronda's takedowns.

I do like the fact that Nunes has said she is training for Ronda since day 1 whereas Nunes is simply an opponent to a Rousey. That's a deep seated motivation that benefits her.

There is enough info here on both sides (in far different writing styles) for you to make that determination.

scal i love your football and basketball picks but if you didnt already knew that, you shouldnt be capping a fight where she is on... yeah i know you were on the rock bottom angle but cmon

Ronda just weighed in officially. Looks to be in awesome shape. Clips are floating around on social media. She got on the scale and then promptly left the room. Didn't utter a single word to anyone.

If you like Nunes to win the fight, I might wait at this point. Media will start building up Rousey being in great shape and the number will probably go up.
