Where do most of you think the strength in SEC teams lie . Most people seem to think it is defense. YOUR COMMENTS PLEASE.

My thoughts are not always specific to offense/defense.  The SEC has, in general much more speed as compared to other conferences.
This makes WR a coveted position, as well as cover CB and sometimes RB.

I don't think there's more kids running 4.3's and 4.4's in the sec than other conferences. I think the speed advantage lies along the defensive lines. Yes Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana have great or fast high school athletes, but so does Texas, Ohio, and California.

This is just my opinion, but for the most part I think the better athletes come from the South(SEC recruiting grounds). And I think out of those players the majority are on defense. ( If Joe McKnight would've played CB instead of RB his career would have been very different.)

If I had to pick one I’d say speed.

Pretty much every team has some speed at positions likes WR, but SEC teams have in all over the field in spades.

Take the Hawaii/Georgia Sugar Bowl a few years back when some people thought undefeated Hawaii should be playing in the BCS championship.

Georgia completely destroyed Hawaii winning 41-10 and they could have won 66-3 if they wanted to.

After the game Colt Brennan (Hawaii's QB) said Georgia was the fastest team he had ever seen in his career.

Watching Georgia’s D line get past Hawaii’s O line was like watching 300 pound catch potatoes trying to catch track stars.

Taking 1 specific example to make your point is ridiculous..

I bet if you asked Brian Johnson the same question, he's say Bama's defense was slow as molasses...

    Not hating the SEC

Just hating the 1 specific example he provided to make his point..

Every CFB fan knows that Hawaii team was the weakest of all the non-AQ schools to ever play in a BCS bowl..

That's almost as bad as SEC followers claiming Boise is going to get lit up by UGA because the last 2 times they have played, UGA blew em out..

    silly people

    Not hating the SEC

Just hating the 1 specific example he provided to make his point..

Every CFB fan knows that Hawaii team was the weakest of all the non-AQ schools to ever play in a BCS bowl..

That's almost as bad as SEC followers claiming Boise is going to get lit up by UGA because the last 2 times they have played, UGA blew em out..

    silly people

The guy asked for people’s opinions. I give my opinion. Then you get all pissy about it. Grow up.

Also Bama was one quarter away from playing in the national championship, they choked, and suddenly they are in a bowl game against a non-BCS school. Whereas that was the biggest game in the history of Utah football.

Sounds like an excuse if I've ever heard one..

What? It's not feasible for a non-aq school to make a SEC school its bitch in a 1 game situation??

Editing out part of my post? It must have hit the nail on the head.

Anyone that knows college football knows Alabama wanted nothing to do with that bowl game while it was the biggest game in the history of Utah.   Wise up.

I’m sure you think the result would have been exactly the same if they had met in the BCS championship game, right?

You SEC haters crack me up.

lol how did they choke? They lost to one of the best teams in college for a long time, without their best player. It is nothing to be ashamed of or call "choking"..

When you have the lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter of a championship game and proceed to give up 14 unanswered points, yeah, I’d call that choking.

Bad argument.  A loss is  a loss.  You give people a hard time for dogging the SEC but then set up excuses when SEC teams lose games to "weaker" opponents.

Very simple why the SEC dominates and wins the NC.

The defensive front seven are to big, fast and athletic for all the step sisters who come into the NC game for them to handle. The front seven dominates and thus they dominate the game.

You are correct a loss is a loss. Bama faced a good opponent in Utah, but didn't come to play after Florida knocked them off of the mile high cloud they were on. Being a half away from playing in the National Championship game, to playing against a weaker, although talented Utah team in the Sugar Bowl is a huge letdown. That isn't an excuse, it is what happened, and a poor job of the coaching staff to allowed that to happen.

How many times have you seen a pitcher who was rocking along, sitting down batter after batter, getting late into the game, throwing a no-hitter, to end up giving up a hit, and then getting rocked by the next several batters. Its the same thing. The thing that he was fighting so hard for was taken away, and the end result is he lost motivation, and intensity due to the huge letdown.

Thats a bad arguement. 10 minutes is alomost a full quarter.  The game is still very much anyones at that point.

But the implication is that they would of otherwise won the game in a different situation.  That the part of the argument that is unfair.  The bottom line is they did not win the game.

That would be like saying that if Lebron would of been able to get his head out of his ass in the NBA finals than they would of won the game.  Well guess what -- he was not able to and they did not win.

SEC is easily the best conference in spades.  But credit has to be given to the other teams when they beat SEC teams.

which is something you SEC homers do not do, thus a big reason why most non-SEC fans hate the SEC and its fans..
