This is a rather important point to consider in this game... if Chuckie is healthy, USU would be at least a TD favorite... now it's a TD the other way... if you are trying to say "that's too easy," when the books have shaded the line 14 points based on one player, I think you are probably missing the mark...


Anyway, this is the one game on your board that I think is definitely not a sucker bet... no interest in the other games...

you think Utah St was a 7 point fav over Boise with Chuckie?   i'm thinking boise still favored.

A&M and Michigan are the two biggest square bets I've ever seen this week. Kinda reminds me of GA laying only 10 to Tenny last week

Something to consider regarding both the A&M and Boise games is that both have had 2 weeks to prep for their opponent.  A&M has seen Ole Miss offensive scheme and while porous, their defense 
will have 2 weeks to prepare v. a team that has been through 2 tough games.  Boise also is familiar with Utah State, though certainly things changed regarding their game planning once Chuckie went down.  It's obvious this isn't a boise team up to Peterson's standards, especially on defense, but having 2 weeks to prep is an advantage.

To follow on, I think the the two weeks is especially important when you have a strong coaching staff, which both A&M and Boise have, imho.

I completely agree - Keeton was the MVP of that team. Without him, no one really knows what to expect. They still should play sound defense though.

I hate how a lot of people on here always talk about square bets. Or just go the other way for the sole purpose of betting public is higher than a certain percentage. Every week square bets win and lose and sharp bets win and lose. If a bet covers it was a good bet. End of discussion. Football is extremely unpredictable we have all laid very smart well handicapped bets and have lost due to random unforseen things happening (i.e. injuries, turnovers, qb having a bad game, etc.). I will most likely take Baylor, Oregon, and Mich. Guess that means i'm a stupid square bettor. We'll see come Saturday. I mostly do bet favorites but thats because i like to find the biggest lopsided matchups. Baylor this week IMO.

Last time Keeton was lost for the season (last offensive play of 1H of game at Hawaii), Adam Kennedy came in and rallied USU to a comeback win after trailing 28-7 at half.  The rest of the season he put up better numbers than Keeton, although the competition was not quite as good as what Keeton had faced. 

The next year, Kennedy got beat out for the backup job by Harrison, who took over on Friday night and outperformed Keeton.  Maybe the drop-off won't be that great.

Chuckie is worth about 14 points to the line.  +7 to --7

I agree, and would add that Keaton  probably took every snap in practise.  Now Harrison will get every snap in practise so he'll be much better than what he showed in the BYU game.

Ut St defense will rally.  I originally liked Boise and the Under, but now I am leaning to Ut St and the Under. Especially considering what happened to Boise in Washington.

Sorry -- Harrison took over the backup job last year because of a shoulder injury to Kennedy suffered against Southern Utah.

I remember getting burned two years ago when Keeton went out -- I loaded up on Hawaii for the 2H.  Bad idea. 

Good point about the reps for Harrison this week, Thorpe.

I'm starting to think about playing the Utags in this one.

Well, maybe not a full TD, but there's no way in hell Boise would be favored on the road against Utah St, if Chuckie was still in the lineup...

USU (-3.5) is the absolute lowest... and I know I for one would have bet on USU at that line...

Great point.  That right there is what bettors face all the time.  Something looks like a sucker bet and you know it's a sucker bet.  But???  Do you have the balls to bet that game as a non-sucker?  Sometimes sucker bets get lucky and still cash.  Could be 1- of 6 sucker bets actually the sucker wins by some weird random play or whatever.

But most sucker bets are just that sucker bets, and you'd have to be a sucker to take that bet, ha ha...

Didn't see this before I responded... USU (-4.5) or (-5) is where I would have expected that line to settle...

Ole piss looks like a play for me. A&M not tested on the road yet and defense struggles alot.

There's no such thing as a sucker bet, but there is such a thing as a bet made with a bad perception of a game. Usually, people only remember how a team looked the previous week and forget about the big picture.

Imo, the PSU- Michigan line is set correctly. I'd actually lean to taking PSU at home. I had the Wisconsin line at -6.5 , A&M at -5 and Boise at -4.5 ,so I think they are all a bit high. I think all four games could possibly go either way .Gun to head I'd take Ole Miss, PSU, Boise, and NW , but I won't be betting any of them .

only thing that is stopping me is that A&M has had the bye week and should be well prepared for Ol Miss.   A&M's schedule was gift wrapped this fall.
