michigan bama kickoff game

Our contest will be that I will take Alabama -14 for as much money as your willing to wager.  Just name the amount.

We can also have a contest about whether Alabama scores more times against Michigan than they punt - again for as much as you feel comfortable wagering.

You can choose one or both of these contests.

Played better offensive teams- and got lit up by them.. who cares if they played them if they couldn't stop them..

Finally a Michigan fan says they think they will WIN..I still havent heard that until this thread!!

If Denard could throw then Michigan might have a chance, but he cant, so Alabama will load the box, and just hope you dont lose 3+ players to injury including Denard!!!

Also if you Bet Michigan the spread opened at -11 and -12.5, I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST BETTING AGAINST THE MOVE!!

It's really not a spat.  It's one guy who is afraid to back up the shit he's shoveling with a real money wager even though I'm offering better terms on the bet than he can get anywhere else.

In another thread one Michigan backer said he'd bet me if I gave him 16 points.  I said ok, and he still wouldn't pull the trigger.

I don't do it for the action because $500 is an insignificant amount of money compared to what I'll have riding on this game.  I do it to expose some of these attention person clowns that post on Covers.

On the other hand, I have the utmost respect for someone who really believes in his play (or team) and says "hell yeah I'll bet."  Regardless of how that bet turns out, and provided he makes good on the bet if he loses, that is someone whose posts I will read and respect in the future.  I will respect that poster for two reasons:  1) because I know he's a real gambler and not just a poser like many on here are, and 2) because I know he actually believes in what he posts.  He's not just a "hey everybody look at me" attention person.

As for the game, because running the ball against Alabama's front 7 is pretty much futile, I agree that for Michigan to have a legitimate shot in this game DR will have to be able to consistently make plays downfield.  I personally don't think he'll be successful in doing that which is why I don't think this game will be close.

 

Alabama will most likely score 40 points in this game. The question becomes, can Michigan score 28 or more? I just don't see that happening.

I agree with you.  My honest opinion of this game is that I think it'll be a victory for Michigan's defense if they hold Alabama under 40 points, and I think it'll be a victory for Michigan's offense if they find the end zone one time.  I will stick with my original score prediction of 38-6.

 

I think Michigan can score around 13, maybe a TD at the end for garbage points. Alabama 1st half should be under 7 which is quite nice.

I absolutely think Michigan can score 13, but I think that is probably the high water mark for them.  DR is a threat to take it to the house on every snap.  There is no denying that.  I just don't think the odds favor them getting to 13 in this game.

 

If you think bama puts up 40+ plus points then yeah i would bet it also! 40+ points is a very unreasonable total! Jimmy you call out people to take your wager! I dont care! I'm a box i guess! They think 40 bc they are unreasonable! Michigan will give up yards but touchdowns will be hard to come by! Lots of field goals

What makes you think last season's Penn State game has any relevance whatsoever to the upcoming Michigan game???  This type of flawed rationale is exactly why the books make so much money off of the betting public.

I believe Alabama's offense will score almost every time they have the ball.  Whether they score touchdowns or settle for field goal attempts will determine if they hit 40 or not.  Hitting 30 is pretty much a lock however.

 

I would consider a wager that Alabama will score 40 points if the terms of the bet are acceptable.

Been looking at this game since spring. I'm am pounding the fuck out of Alabama. Everybody who is on Alabama is absolutely right. Too much speed on defense and I don't see Denard Robinson having much success passing and running the ball

I bought it at Alabama -10.

The plan (which is obvious) is to come at DR from every angle. He will get hit hard. I would bank on a few QB roughing penalties early on. Saban will make him primarily have to throw the ball. Unless the football gods blessed DR and his passing abilities in the off-season then this could be a 3 and out game for the Michigan O. Saban's plan has always been smart but yet simple. Attack the strength of a team and make them rely on the weaker components of their game.

DR better lather his body in Crisco to increase his chances of "maybe" slipping through a small hole of defenders targeting him!

You have to understand the way saban coaches his players up. Practicing down south vs Hoke coaching his players up north also matters. Everybody knows it's hot as hell in Alabama and Saban is pushing them hard.

If DR struggled against big 10 schools last year, what you expect from him against Bama. I know for a fact DR is not going be able to throw. Only way he is going be able to move the ball is scrambling which far fetch. That's one thing Saban is coaching up , and that is having one of his linebackers spying on Denard all game.

jimmydafreak - I'll take Michigan +16 for $100 if your still offering it. I'm not a fan of either team. I just love to gamble. I'm not sold on Brady Hoke. He surprised me last year. He's got good coordinators though. He's recruited well. Plus 2nd year in the system and we have all seen how this goes the last 12 years. Plus the best athlete on the field will be handling the ball on every snap (shoelace). Yeah I'll take that bet all day long. You still offering it?
